#6 Nightbreaker

| November 6, 2011 | 2 Comments

Who-or what-is Nightbreaker?

The true identity of this mysterious member of Mitchell Baranovich’s enforcer team is unknown. Some say Nightbreaker might be female…but no one has bothered to remove the coal-black skintight outfit that Nightbreaker wears. Or rather, no one who tried lived to tell about it. No one can guess what is going on behind to luminous yellow circles that are Nightbreaker’s eyes. Nightbreaker barely speaks above a whisper, but always follows the orders of Baranovich without question.

It could be that Nightbreaker isn’t even human.

Some say that Baranovich knows the real story about Nightbreaker…but he’s not telling anyone, choosing to keep it all to himself.

Nightbreaker’s main weapon is a scythe that can slice through flesh and bone like a hot knife through butter. Surprisingly, the weapon is used more to wound, not kill. It turns out Nightbreaker prefers to go in and use his or her hands to snap the neck of the target.

For the heroes Windwalker, Astral, and the Red Raptor-Nightbreaker remains one of their most dangerous-and mysterious-foes.

Day 06 -Sjana of Upper City from my novel “Mentor”

| November 6, 2011 | 2 Comments

Sjana of Upper City takes a last look back …
before leaping into the unknown.

Sjanatha A’tan Re’ khalanth, only daughter of widower Kinsaar A’tan Re’kalanth, Governor of the Lakes Region of Vindertrest on the Rim planet T’rest.
Always a handful to manage, one always had the feeling the child had been born in the wrong time. Willful and petulant when balked. Inclined to go her own way regardless of the effect on others. Though to her credit, she never meant to cause grief to others. It was her passion for knowledge that caused her to seek ways around the safety protocols, precautions, and barriers. Se sought knowledge born of experience, rather than that readily available on the Grid, or from MAICS’s archives. She did gain knowledge from both those sources, but somehow it was not enough. Somehow she had to get herself physically inside a subject and turn it inside out until she really felt she knew it.

But that was a hard thing to do on T’rest. Especially since the war, after the ships stopped landing here. After the Bubble went up. Sjana’s Aunt, Renala del Re’sjahlak, Sister to Sjana’s mother Deira, had done the best she could to give Sjana the kind of loving guidance that her own sister Deira would have given her. And the two adored each other. But Renala was a fairly conventional woman. Though she had admired her sister’s bravery and forth right nature, she had often harboured thoughts that perhaps her sister’s untimely death had something to do with that nature. Her inability to let a thing go, let it ride…

Sjana took after Deira. Openly standing up for the weak. Loyal, bold and honest and forth right most of the time, but not afraid to go behind one’s back in order to fulfil a perceived obligation. At this age, the tender age of seventeen, what Sjana thought was right and proper, she also thought everyone else should think was right and proper. It just never occurred to her that other people had their own agendas, and was surprised when people were offended or angry with her. She was often full of remorse to find that her actions had negative effects on others, and did what she could to make amends. But she wasn’t sorry that she’d done it. Because, well… she needed to. She was just very sorry that her needs had hurt others. All this coupled with her inexhaustible energy, sooner or later Sjana was bound to make trouble in a big way.

And so it was no surprise when Sjana’s synthdroid mentor, a’tannattal, reported her missing, last “seen” by MAICS over thirty hours ago heading toward the promontory. No Grid activity since then. Somehow, to Renala’s horror, Sjana had finally found a way to have escaped the Grid as she had often threaten to do. That or she was dead. How could a child survive with no Grid to guide her? The Grid was the one topic that Renala and Sjana could never see eye to eye. To Renala the Grid represented safety and freedom. You could never be alone. And that was just the opposite of what it represented to Sjana. To her it was stifling and intrusive. And you could never be alone. You could never experience anything or yourself, first hand. It chafed and she plotted ways and means to escape such benevolent tyranny.

Excerpt from “Mentor”:

She woke a long time later, stiff and sore with her head on her pack and her knees pulled up to her chest. She’d been dreaming about her mother again. Her mother who was smart and brave and beautiful and who loved her, just like Auntie had told her so often. She herself hardly remembered her, but dreaming about her was like a benediction.

She sat up working her neck muscles, moving her head from side to side when a gleam of pale light began dawning, not from above as she had expected, but from somewhere over there to her left; from the wall of the gap she had fallen into. She scrambled to her feet and slung on the pack. She stumbled over the stones and broken bits of marble to the light and found that there was yet another hole, this one big enough to swallow three of her.

She poked her head through the hole and looked around. There were other holes, like large broken windows, across from where she stood. The light was coming from there. They really looked like they might have once been windows. She’d learned about windows years ago when she’d asked why she couldn’t go to the places she saw on the windows, and was told they were only projections on screens that MAICS put there for us. Real windows were holes in the walls with an almost invisible substance fitted into it. to keep the outside outside so to speak. Those holes over there looked like that and that the light which was coming through them at angle was really somewhere outside. Light was coming in from outside. Was there no end to the wonders?

There was a whirring sound above her head. She ducked instinctively as something soft scraped across her hair. there was a blur in front of her then a second later was somewhere else. So fast that she couldn’t focus on it, but it seemed to be a small bird, flying.

“How did you get out of your cage?” She murmured at it. Startled, it flew up out of her sight and she craned her neck to see where it had gone. There were hundreds of them up there, wings vibrating faster than light it seemed. And then she looked down. And gasped. It was a long way down. In fact it was so far down that she couldn’t see the bottom. The area that she could see, the part that held up the marble floor above her, was about forty feet by sixty feet, she estimated. There was a wide ledge, maybe six feet wide just below her hole, and the window holes on the other side, not all of which let in light, went down and down and down until you could no longer see any. What was this place? Did MAICS know about it? Why were there cageless birds here? Could they be wild birds? like they’d sometimes seen on the promontory?

Wonders! And nothing could have stopped her at that moment from climbing out through the hole and dropping the few feet to the ledge.

To whomever it may concern.

I, Charlie B. Goode, in full use of all my physical and mental abilities hereby declare this my Last Will and Testament.

I, unfortunately, have nothing in my possession worth inheriting to anyone.

And even if I did, I have no family to whom to inherit it anyways.

All I had in the world was my uncle Linus. He cared for me and raised me until his sudden and unexpected death at the age of 97.

It is in his memory that I became a nurse and care for those afflicted by all sorts of mental illness.

Also, I had no money for medical school.

It may not have been the most glamorous of works, but I quite liked it and made me feel like I was doing something important with my life.

That all changed the day I met Edmund Montagu. He had been a guest of the Happy Cheeks Home for the Clinically Insane ever since I got there. He’d never given us any trouble, hadn’t even spoken in all those years. He just used to seat on his wheel chair and read comics all day long.

And one day, out of nowhere, he just got off his chair, started screaming he was a cat, took me hostage and jumped from our third floor window.

I was very lucky that Mr. Montagu had bullet-proof skin and unbreakable bones, or else we would have both died that day.

I was not so lucky in that, when I regained consciousness I was in some abandoned sewer, dressed in a mouse costume and tied to a chair. Mr. Montagu had decided that I would become his sidekick in his new endeavor as a crime fighter.

And that’s been my life ever since.

I’m just a 24 year old nurse. Never even kissed a girl. Now I find myself everyday thrown into the most absurdly dangerous situations because of Mr. Montagu’s insane crusade. I mean, his hearth is in the right place and he kinda, sorta does have what it takes to make it in this business. But he’s a seriously sick person and he needs help, before he hurts someone.

Especially before he hurts me.

I’ll do as I swore to do the day I graduated from nursing school: I will care for my patients. I won’t abandon Mr. Montagu. Not until I finally convince him to go back to the clinic and get help.

But in the mean time, just in case…

#5 - Cat

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

This World is a filthy, dangerous place.

Evil clutters the drains of our society, making it drown in misery and corruption.

The throat of truth and righteousness is further and further choked by the hairy hands of crime and villainy.

But evil-doers, wrong-doers and other kinds of doers associated with the previous two… BEWARE!!

For I will be society’s avenging plumber, mooning you with my half-shown cheeks of justice!

I will be peppermint flavored cough drop of hope that will sooth your aching throat after I kick those hairy villain’s hand right in his foul butt!

I AM THE CAT! AND I BORROW THE NIGHT!

I borrow it because saying I own it is the kind of thing that egomaniacal super-villain types say. I must remain forever humble and servile to avoid that my super-powers corrupt me and turn me to the side of the devils.

Also, the night truly belongs to the law-abiding citizens of my beautiful hometown, which I’ve made a sacred, double secret pinky swear to protect.

So, once again for the cheap seats: EVIL BEWARE! Because there’s a new cat in town and not only is he hip to your tricks, but he’s also not had his claws clipped in a very, very long time. Kitty can scratch, baby.

Meowch!

And using said claws, plus my other awesome powers, my super scary Charles Bronson from “Death Wish” impersonation, a belt full of pouches, which are then filled with tiny, itsy-bitsy crime-fighting gadgets and my own fearless protégé, the valiant Mouse, I will bring an end to all sorts of crime and villainy.

I will punish the wicked, right wrongs, save damsels in distress, help old ladies cross the street, shake hands, kiss babies and all other duties that this life of super heroism and self sacrifice I’ve pledged myself to demand.

And, in conclusion my superstitious and cowardly lot, you should very much fear me the next time you see me.

FOR I AM THE CAT!!! AND I BORROW THE NIGHT!!

#6 Anna Conda

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Here is today’s character from my current project of a tongue-in-cheek comic. This character is Anna Conda:

Anna Dixit specialized in zoology at a university in her home country of India. Studying rare species of venomous snakes and working in league with members of the medical field, her desire was to help the doctors discover new cures for the deadliest snake venoms that plagued the people of her land. When Anna was bitten by a snake, however, some of the untested anti-venom was all that was available to cure her in time. Given a form similar to a spinal tap, the medicine was injected in the discs between her spinal lumbar. Healing her instantly, the anti-venom also delivered a side effect none of them could have expected. Anna’s spine at first seemed to be completely flexible. Twisting herself into a pretzel, she felt no pain. While under medical watch, Anna used her idle time to see what else could be accomplished. Twisting became old hat as she exercised herself and learned to control her muscles which now allowed her separate her lumbar and thus to expand her spine by several times its normal length. Further perfecting her new skills, Anna gained the strength to even curl and coil herself around objects that she could then squeeze with her elongated abdomen with incredible force. Her limbs hold no such bendability or stretch ability but she has honed them into finely tuned arms and legs that fully support her ever changing core. Being an upstanding citizen, Anna knew she would have to benefit the world around her by donning a hero’s identity and helping others. Bearing the name Anna Conda, she now uses these powers for good. Able to reach 20 feet into the air and to produce a squeezing pressure of up to 900 metric pounds, she has a terrible weakness that she hopes no one will ever discover: despite her great strength and incredible gift, she is very ticklish. Should a villain ever be wrapped up in her coil with an arm that is free enough to move and tickle her, the sudden shock of silliness would immediately loosen her super strong grip. So far, however, no one has had the chance to learn of this before being squeezed unconscious.

Spent all of yesterday playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines for the first time. It rolled me with a Nosferatu, but I was pretty disappointed with how limited the interactions were and also the fact that I’m stuck wearing this terrible looking and brain-dead stupid getup of lowcut pants and a bra through the city when I’m so disfigured that I send people running when they see me.

This is how I properly envision Esther - a streetwise cutpurse and con-woman who wakes up one day after a poor choice in bed partner to find that the world she’s known is now forever lost to her. The world above is nothing but kine who see only her disfigured face, or kindred who seek to use her as a pawn in their elaborate ridiculous games. Sometimes she just wants to stay in the sewers with the rats. They’re the only ones who seem to like her for who she is…

I decided to experiment with Texture overlays for this pic. It turned out alright, especially considering that it was pretty rushed.

#2: Vishy Nobelle

Vishy isn’t exactly a space pirate; she’s more of a space vandalist. Much of her kicks are gotten by raiding ships and essentially crippling them, and then getting out before she’s either shot full of holes or the ship itself erupts.

While solo most of her young adult life, she eventually recruits herself into a bandit mercenary squadron called the Blind Daggers, named after the circus act of tossing knives while blindfolded at a person chained to a spinning wheel. As expected, she is typically the first one in on a job and the last one out.

#6 Femme

Femme a cyborg from the future

In the future(2012 ^^; ), society is dominated by a corrupt and paranoid layer of super rich financiers. To meet the increasingly perverse desires of this class the Xynon corporation has endeavored to create a line of pleasure cyborgs-to satisfy the more earthly needs of these oligarchs. In addition to being built to the prospective buyer’s desires-the pleasure droids are also armed with an array of weaponry(from blades to electronic whips and coils)…they are also coated with a suit of flesh colored armor that is highly resistant to even tank fire. The ‘femmes’ as they came to be called are also incredibly strong and fast.

The designers programmed them with human(desirable female traits) personalities and intelligence, altho the femmes are actually much smarter than a human-basically the equivalent of a super computer is built into their cranium. Femme is the first of many planned droids…hers is the story of a droid that gained ‘consciousness’-she was horrified and repelled by both her programming and those she was programmed to please and protect. After being awakened she killed her owner in a fit of rage…she then went back to the lab and destroyed it…killing the scientists involved. Now Femme is on the run in a decidely unfriendly world…

#3 - Wu Xing

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Shen Yat-Sun, a humble fisherman from the Hainan Province of China, was half asleep in his small boat, the rod loosely held in his hand, when the blinding flash of light hit him.

Waking with a start Shen fell into the cold water and, when he surfaced, his rod had changed into a wooden staff, with five coloured rings through the top of the shaft. Gripping the staff tightly he found himself floating up from the water, rising above it and drifting to the shoreline where he suddenly realised that he knew what he held – and who he now was:

Wu Xing – the master of the five elements.

Each ring on the staff represented one of the fabled elements – the black ring was metal, giving him strength and protection; the blue ring was air, giving him flight; the red ring was for fire, giving him blasts of powerful heat and flames; the brown ring was for earth, granting him the power of the earthquake; and the green ring was for water, granting him invisibility.

Graphitint fuelled quick drafts for next few days… Wasn’t able to get this sorted yesterday as I was in London all day… I was lucky enough to be spending my birthday attending Distant Worlds at the Royal Albert Hall, the first time ever for the UK. I’ve wanted to go since 2002 when I became aware of a concert that was held in America, and I grinned when they apologised for taking so long to get over here, all is forgiven. Wonderful evening and the promise of a return visit in 2012.

so while i was on my trip, we went to this nunnery and wow you wouldn’t believe how fucking beautiful the place was, ahh the walls were all pink and with these squiggly indentations and woah it was actually pretty cool.

then i started thinking about the stereotypical nun pornos that i’ve seen and this naughty nurse was born.
