# 16: Boogaloo

| November 28, 2012 | 2 Comments

Boogaloo is one of those guys that’s right on the cusp of being a criminal but never gets caught. He does what he has to do to survive. Aside from being a snappy dresser, he also has a jones for 60’s soul music and rib tips. He’s seen frequently in and around Luther’s rib shack where he’ll pick up a large order while he unloads a couple of Rolex knockoffs. When Otis Wonder needs some info about what’s on the streets, Boogaloo is his man.

#13: Steel Boy

| November 19, 2012 | 0 Comments

Steel Boy was the first successful experiment by Professor Gepettus who would later create the Flamester. In reality he was just a stepping stone in the process of creating a synthetic human. After his creation in 1942 he was recruited by the armed forces to fight the Nazis. After several years leading the war effort along side Golden Boy and the Flamester he was decommissioned in 1950 and put into storage.

Day 5: Black Belt Johnson

| November 6, 2012 | 0 Comments

In the 1970’s Black Belt Johnson was a master of Karate as well as the starting point guard for the Chicago High Tops, an expansion team in the ABA. This is all part of a cover for his job as a secret operative for the U.S. government.

#20 Samsonite Stevens, Marine

| November 28, 2010 | 0 Comments

Sam Stevens is one of the few aboard the Vega 7 who joined the colonial marines of his own accord. Desperate to get out of becoming a water farmer in the outer colonies like most of his family, Sam wanted a little adventure in his life. What Sam didn’t realize is that the new colonial marine corps goes everywhere and does everything – while flying. Sam is not fond of flying and failed jetpack training a record thirty-six times before finally being passed out of frustration by a sergeant who retired the following day.

Sam is tough as nails and quick on his feet, and it’s a good thing: Due to his being flying-challenged, Sam tends to meet most of the larger forms of wildlife and dangers up-close and personal.

Sam’s favorite phrase: “Hell yeah! Breathable atmosphere!”

#18 Rex, Assassin

| November 26, 2010 | 4 Comments

An interstellar bounty-hunter, and assassin of the stars, Rex quickly made a name for herself by assassinating the ruler of Gamma 5; a celebrated leader who was one of the first alien dignitaries to be in favor of human settlement on foreign planets.

Willing to put an end to anything, anywhere, Rex is an elite killer specializing in Muy Thai, Jui Jiusu, edged weapons, and nearly every firearm imaginable. She began her career shortly after the destruction of the moon, (some attribute the moon disaster to her, for her paid killing spree was initiated soon thereafter.)

Her short-jump, fast-attack craft, Zombie, has been to worlds uncharted by humans, and the only other crew than herself: her genetically enhanced, giant, albino Great Dane, Marley. While Rex enjoys men on a flavor-of-the-month basis, Marley does not care for them.

Before her life of crime and his initiation into the Colonial Marines, Rex and Gavin Laurent were something of an item…

#17 Amber X, Marine Scout

| November 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

Even Amber isn’t sure what her last name is. When she was given the choice of incarceration or service in the colonial marines, she chose the later, having spent her formative years in and out of mental institutions (only slightly better than prison).

Amber is the loner of the Vega 7 platoon, headed by Gavin Laurent, something ideal for her role as scout. Often spending long stretches of time in a solo craft or space-walking, Amber has the tendency to unnerve those around her, for she rarely speaks.

“No question about it, the girl’s batshit crazy. No better scout around, though, and in a fight, my money’s on her nine out of ten times. ” –Gavin Laurent

#16 Amanda Davenshaw, scientist

| November 24, 2010 | 4 Comments

Being assigned to the exploratory vessel Vega 7 was both a dream and a curse for Amanda. Her life as a Sol scientist had been rather uneventful, after all, what was there left to explore in our solar system? So she leapt at the chance to be lead scientist on a marine charting vessel.

When her first outer system jump landed her and the marines assigned to her vessel in a Lovecraftian nightmare, she quickly understood why the marine brass insisted on all personnel carrying lasers, and emergency flight suit training…

Some might call this one cheating as it was a con commission sketch, but the gent had me do a “retro space girl”. I had a backstory already planned for something of the sort and with a few modificatons she fit the bill perfectly.

#4 Mega D (Mega Droid)

| November 17, 2010 | 2 Comments

Sega Megadrive robot. Created by sentient robots in the distant future.

Im soooo far behind in the 30d30c challenge, I’ve had no internet for the past few days, and I’m sticking with this excuse :) It’s no excuse really I’m just slow at making these robots, I have several Ideas for these characters but they are proving to be very hard to finish off, I’ll try to make as many as I can in the 30 days. Here is the latest Mega D (MegaDroid).

#1 Victor X (Victor Vector)

| November 3, 2010 | 2 Comments

Created by the cutting edge machines of the future, as a nostalgic nod to the Computers of the past, this psychotic robot has the split personality within his retro exterior. His plastic overlay shows a happy creature. This overlay hides Victor’s darker side, Victor’s “Vector X…..!!!1!!!!!”

This was created using Inkscape the fantastic and still FREE Adobe Illustrator alternative. This is still a work in progress, the final version will be a lot crisper, he just took far too long to create.
