#12 – King Lonesome
Aside from playin blues that would break the heart of the devil himself, and preaching a mighty fine, if not quite theologically proper, sermon from time to time, he’s a rambling hoodoo man of sorts, with a habit of hunting down “the things that cause them cries of woe, them unseen things that just shouldn’t be so”.
But he rebuffs anyone’s attempt to deter him from this path, or who would make him a professional and tie him to the treasures of this world. “Don’t you worry ’bout ol’ King Lonesome. I’m bound to wander these four corners of the earth ’til I meet that Man of Sorrows, and either I strikes him or he strikes me.”
Til then, he’s got his guitar, The Psalmist, and his song, “Justine”, in which is encoded the essence of his wife and true love, a former voodoo queen of New Orleans. The Psalmist was taken apart and rebuilt during a ritual that involved lining it with the pages of the bible, specifically Ephesians 6:10-18 dealing with the armor of God, and of course, a full complement of Psalms. There’s only one known recording of King Lonesome singing “Justine” — sold only at B.T. Dubs’ Incidentals and Curiousities– but once you hear Lonesome sing her to life, she’ll be in your heart forever.
Character No. 6- Henry London
Name: Henry London
Age: 24
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Occupation: English Teacher, Guitarist
Short Background:
Despite his size and messy looks, Henry is somewhat a gentle giant. When he isn’t working on his paintings, he spends a lot of time playing his guitar. He tries to be encouraging and is often seen trying to help others. Very much a big brother figure and always looking to work with others.
Henry never really thought about traveling, but when he was offered a chance to teach abroad, he jumped at the opportunity of a lifetime. It was also a chance to see the place where his grandfather once lived during his time in the military. He never knew what he was getting into, but hopefully he can achieve these goals without alienating the people he left behind (including his girlfriend). Only time will tell if he can survive in unfamiliar territory.
Design:
Really, he doesn’t have any truly defining features. He wears a lot of t-shirts and dresses very casually (perhaps more so than his bosses would like). Jeans and perhaps some khakis on occasion. He is not cut out to be a businessman or hold a white collar job, but he puts a lot of effort into everything he does.
#15 Jake Boneswarm
Jake Boneswarm is a new character in the world and story of Art Geek Zoo: The Way of Sound.
Jake Boneswarm is known to Musica’s gholhems and mystical instruments as a roaming undead musician. Initially seen as a threat, now Jake is well respected among the instruments as they appreciate his considerable talent. He’s also seen as a cursed artist to have respect and pity over as he’s bound to his skeletal form, cursed to perform once per day for as large of a crowd as he can find or gather at a moments notice when the curse takes effect.
What the unsuspecting instruments and gholhems don’t know is that Jake became cursed when he stole the spirits of a few famous musicians some years ago. The musician’s spirits all cursed Jake so if he didn’t perform for as big of an audience as he can find every single day – Jake would turn to dust.
After the curse Jake Boneswarm swore he’d never steal a spirit again. However, such a promise could prove hard to keep if he crossed paths with a bunch of talented musicians all at once – such as the bunch of talented musicians in that have joined Professor Razorclaw’s class at Polytechnica.
