#9 Djinn of the Po
Usually you get a Genie to appear by rubbing a lamp – who’s going to rub a toilet bowl? No wonder he’s upset….!
#5 Jane and Bá Huraqan, “Papi said knock you out.”
JANE AND BÃ HURAQAN THE PUNCH-GENIE, “PAPI SAID KNOCK YOU OUT”
“Nice teeth.. maybe ya should pick them up.. keep them.. remember who knocked that crooked smile off of your face.”
Jane Fortin’s father didn’t leave behind much for her after he kicked the proverbial bucket, some outstanding debts and boxes of trinkets; but his old boxing gloves did still have magic in them. So the people used to say, and, turns out they were right, even if they didn’t know just how right. These babies house a one of a kind Mayan Punch-Genie, which only the wearer of the gloves can see and hear.. what’s a girl to do? Yeah, it might not grant her wishes, but you are definitely going to wish you hadn’t crossed her. Now Jane is going to the top of the fighting world.. one punch at a time.. and it’s next stop: the good life, time to leave the hustle behind… or is it? .. See, once you’re on the top of the food chain, the whole world wants a piece of you. So watch your back Ms. Fortin, hopefully you’ll be alright. Just remember what your papi said…
#10 Arshaka Shamash
Too hot, you say? Bah! Babylonians worshipped me as their sun god. My soul burns of the hottest fires. I say let’s kick up the heat.
One of the Old Ones, Arshaka the orange Djinn now leads a bike gang in Northeast Baltimore.
#9 – Sybelle, Daughter of Ebrim
Sybelle, Ebrim Djinn’s daughter, is nothing like her brother, Vander.
#8 Vander, Son of Ebrim
Son of one of the most powerful Djinn to have walked the earth, Vander Gabon’s life is about to change…
From Wikipedia: Jinn (Arabic: جن jinn, singular جني jinnÄ«; variant spelling djinn) or genies are supernatural creatures in Arab folklore and Islamic teachings which occupy a parallel world to that of mankind. Together, jinn, humans and angels make up the three sentient creations of Allah. According to the Qur’Än, there are two creations that have free will: humans and jinn. Religious sources say little about them; however, the Qur’an mentions that jinn are made of smokeless flame or “the fire of a scorching wind”. They have the ability to change their shape. Like human beings, the jinn can also be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent.
(I can’t say much about this next set of characters, but with luck you’ll be seeing more of them in the months to come.) ~D
#5 – Hashim the Ifrit
This is Hashim, an ifrit that has appeared once in Metamorphosis. He’ll be appearing several times in the future, too.
I had a design of him already but I wanted to try my hand at a new design from ground up. There are parts of each design that I like. The older design had a lot more jewels and gold, and I think that’s something this design is missing. In any case, he’s a nasty who’ll be a thorn in the side of one of my characters. He’s conniving, evil, and he prefers to manipulate than resort to brute force. He’s the sort that thinks life is better when you have slaves to do your bidding for you.
This picture is mostly markers. Also I know this is only #5, but 6 and 7 are coming soon and 8 should be done soon. I will get caught up one day. Just gotta get there!
#4 – Marid
I’m a day behind but I wanted to take a little extra care on this picture because I got really into it. This is a marid — that is, a water genie — noble that dwells in the plane of water. He’ll be an important character in a later story arc of Metamorphosis, so I took the opportunity of 30 Characters to design him.
I know I’m behind a day but I plan to catch up over the weekend 😉
