#3. Space Pirate Alustar!

| November 7, 2010 | 0 Comments
Space Pirate Alustar!

He's totally a hero...at least in his own mind.

Self-proclaimed “space pirate” Alustar Aralune  is the commander of the Havoc Queen, a freight-class vessel named after Alustar’s long-lost love. Drifting through space looking for exotic space!treasure, Alustar has made a name for himself as a reckless and brave captain. He has made as many enemies as friends in his long career. He also has an extremely high opinion of himself.

That’s where the “self-proclaimed” part comes in: Alustar is not really a pirate, and his past heroism is largely imagined. He is in fact a traveling junk dealer and scavenger. The Havoc Queen is not a grand pirate ship. It is in fact a run-down cargo cruiser that is both cheap and hard to maintain. The Queen is crewed by the Howitzer Twins: zealously loyal navigator Tanis and occasionally loyal engineer Sylas. Now Alustar is in search of the greatest treasure he can think of: the original Havoc Queen herself, Alustar’s fugitive ex.

Day# 07 Growl, Rain’s Dog

#07 Growl, (#6) Rain's Dog, by Jande Rowe

#07 Growl, (#6) Rain's Dog, by Jande Rowe

And Growl makes three. Rain’s little pet, Growl.   Part this and part that –maybe even Wolf, ya think? Rain found Growl when he was a puppy, wandering at the side of a busy highway, and rescued him from certain death. The two have been together ever since. Rain’s family were alarmed by how huge Growl ended up growing, but were happy to have him in the family. They’ve grown used to him now, but there has always been something strange about Growl, something… almost unearthly.

Luckily the family never resorts to corporal punishment, or their lives may not be worth the cost. Growl is supremely protective of Rain. Nobody, but nobody messes with Rain.

Drawn in Manga Studio Ex4, then Photoshopped a bit. I added Rain so that you could see how big Growl is. Rain’s attitude has changed slightly from his debut picture. If I had Growl as a friend, mine would too.  ;`)

Someday the three of them, Sarah Sorry (#5), Rain Reeves (#6), and Growl, will have some interesting urban adventures together.

Enjoy!

#3 Experiment 1037

Finally got around to completing more characters!! Oh man, I feel so behind now @_@

Anyway, continuing with more Point Blank (PB) concept sketches~
This has been one I’ve been wanting to draw out for a while but was too afraid because it’s not something I usually draw… I’m pretty darn happy with the end result, though! Never underestimate yourself—that’s the lesson to be taught here 😉

The bar code is something every experiment has on their right wrist. Couldn’t see it on this one because he’s not facing us >_< It's a way to identify and catalog them.

I'm going to be pretty vague with this one: In PB, there is a civil war that's beginning to break loose. Experiments like these are the cause. The organization is making these in hopes of achieving beings that are equal to the Immortals and use them against their enemies… however, they also want to increase many attributes to make super beings capable of wiping out many.

Mostly they can achieve the increased attributes, but not the immortal/invisibility part… In fact, they are far from it. Most of the experiments are failures and die off early or become to weak to function properly. This is one of the few experiments that was considered a "successes…"

The Amazing Charles Heather and his Dumbodella

70’s rock fan Charles Heather has always wanted to see the world. The only problem is, while he’s amazing clever he’s also amazingly poor. Never one to let that stop him, Charles decided he would invent his own way of touring the globe.

Enter: the Dumbodella. It’s part elephant, part umbrella and all-weather touring vehicle!

TWEEK

A story about a little boy’s toy created by his great, great, great grandmother in Eastern Europe in a time when the supernatural was believed more than in today’s times.

Tweek is made of cloth, mechanical trinkets and a little bit of magic. The magical doll speaks, walks, fly’s and interacts only with Sam.
Tweek can alter time and realities for only a short period of time in order to go on adventures.

The toy was created centuries ago and only turns to life for the boy. Sam’s father and his father’s father and before also went on adventures with Tweek. The magic is that the toy only comes to life for the boy at the time with blood relation to the great, great, great grandmother. Once they hit a certain age, the boy will forget that Tweek can come to life.

Sam discovered his toy’s abilities after a visit with his parents to the old country of Ukraine where they went to spend time with distant relatives.

#2 Bruno

Meet Bruno, the stock-holder to a tavern, the first interior scene, from my someday-to-be comic! Since he’s more or less of a minor character, I never got around to fleshing out his design.

Bruno is a stocky guy who likes to use logic and reason. He’s honest, doesn’t kid around much, and yet he’s not the kind of guy who loses his temper very easily. He runs the tavern with his family (Bruno, wife, and son). Usually business runs pretty dry unless it rains (no pun intended). Here’s a picture of his wife being clumsy.

Bruno knows a lot about Randi, one of the protagonists of the story. He knows enough about Randi to know what he gave up to the Keeper of the Keys, as well. Having this knowledge is useful, and it actually creates a bond of trust between them.

Bruno is also the guy who finds Adela, the main character, unconscious in the Azubah Valley. In bringing her back to the tavern she and Randi finally meet.

#1 Keeper of the Keys

The Keeper of the Keys–I decided to take this challenge as a way to start drawing out all of my character ideas for my someday-to-be comic, Point Blank. The story revolves around Adela, a girl in search of her missing father in the unforgiving wastelands of the Azubah Valley, and her encounter with the mysterious Mithrandir (or Randi for short), an Immortal.

In the Azubah Valley, there are legends circulating about Immortals, people who have made deals with the mysterious man known as the Keeper of the Keys (KOTK) in order to obtain eternal life. To do so, it is said they must trade a part of which binds them to their mortal state thus making them immortal, but what they have given up is never quite what they expect it to be. Immortality comes at a high price… Of course they want KOTK to reverse the effects, but he vanishes as soon as the damage has been done, and he leaves with whatever is taken. His motives and current whereabouts are unknown.
