Day 3: The Pawn
The Pawn is kinda sad. He thinks he’s a real baddy, but he’s just a pawn, like his name suggests.
#3 Blind Justice
Blind Justice was a spy retired after being blinded in a raid on a chemical weapons lab. After finding she could hit any target without her eyes, she went out to punish those who create deadly chemicals!
Challenge Day #2 – Ichiro Higama
A dark swordsman from our present day. He seeks to rid the world of evildoers that threaten to conquer Earth. With the power of a sword, so sharp, he can cut through just about anything in his path.
Day 2: Oil Change
Earl Viskus was working in the R&D division of an automotive supply chain, when he accidentally stumbled on the secret of alchemy, or a portion of it. With the ability to transmute dirty oil in to water, he could have gone down the path of a successful entrepreneur with the cleanest automobile maintenance service imaginable. Driven mad by the specific limitation of his discovery, he instead became a villain, obsessed with learning more transmutations, stealing to fund his research, and never succeeding beyond his first fluke….
Day 2: Ball of Energy
Hyper active Johnny was always referred to as a ball of energy. Little did people know that he truly was.
Wu 02: Jacob Rickets
Jacob Rickets was born into a prosperous family and studied in equally as prosperous university and graduated as an electrical engineer. His intelligence is off the charts and is a member of Mensa. He helps people by tweaking things to be more efficent. He almost never builds things from ground up, rather he will take an existing solution and tweak it. His tweaking usually gets out of hand and the results become something entirely different.
Not a superhero on his own, but uses his tweaks to aid other superheros by utilizing his skillset. He works in his own shop called “Rickety Jake’s That Joke Is Old”. He doesn’t affiliate himself with any of his clients, but rather enjoys tweaking the crap the hero’s own ‘engineers’ have put together.
Despite his initial appearance, he is very welcoming and considers himself to be an ambivert.
#2 – Leg-Day
Another villain – sentenced to 10 years in jail after being out-muscled by a cop during an armed robbery, he decided to spend the time getting bigger!
He spent the first five years working on his top half, but then was released on good behavior (he spent all his time in the gym!) – which caused him to miss out on five years work on his legs! – Hence, some excellent upper body strength, but skinny, weak legs!
#1 Blue Sound
It was around age of 3 that Vika Daly’s Synaesthesia started to become prevalent. At first, her bemused parents welcomed & encouraged the cognitive patterns started to display. While other kids her age were still trying to get a handle on their colors, letters, numbers, & shapes, Vika was creating her own connections through her own unique neural pathways between each. But as time went on, things started getting a little out of hand. By the time she was ready to start school, she was prone to bouts of sensory overload. Unable to cope, the team of experts she was brought to prescribed an intensive regime of drugs, some still in trial phases. While they worked to dull her senses & keep her condition in check, the cocktail also rendered her nearly catatonic. Vika remembers going through life in slow motion. Seeing everything happen quicker than she could register. While she wasn’t on the medication long, it seemed to have a strange effect.
One day after stopping the treatment, just as it seemed Vika was regaining her sense of normalcy, she was doing her geometry homework when suddenly, she got enthralled by the cover of her textbook. It was blue. A deep blue. Vika felt herself getting lost in it, almost feeling weightless. To her surprise, the reason she was experiencing that sensation was because she was floating about four feet off the ground. It seemed as though her treatment had only acted to intensify her condition. Over time, she found that other sensations had other effects on her too. Thinking of the number 9 kept her from getting hurt. Focusing on the sound of plucking strings made her move with super speed. Squeezing squishy plastic, like a stress doll, gives her a burst of strength. Having long since associated the number 4 with her childhood home, focusing on that number will instantly put her there, as if she teleported there. She began explored more & more of her new strange abilities until she came to the attention of some of the top minds in the country. They seemed to want Vika to be some kind of superhero. While she initially had no real aspirations, she had no real objections either.
After years of training, she’s finally been given the greenlight to serve & protect. To facilitate the sensations she needs when she needs them, she was given a special collar, able to project certain sounds through the directional speakers, & spritz special aromas right underneath her nose. She also keeps certain snacks, knick-knacks, & paint swatches in her utility belt that illicit certain beneficial responses. Her big puffy gloves are specially designed with haptic feedback capable of simulating 42 separate tactile sensations through use of a magnetorheological gel. With these, she’s pretty much able to call on any sensations she should need.
At the same time, some sensations can be liabilities. For instance, the smell of mint renders her powerless for up to a half hour. The number 15, she claims “puts her in a bad place,” making her very angry. As a result, she’s flown into a berserk rage after focusing on it for too long. There’s also a very specific blue pantone that will cause Vika to lose control of her flight powers & drift ever upwards. And she’s still not immune to occasional bouts of sensory overload. Another issue due to the nature of her condition, there’s always the possibility of something she hasn’t experienced yet effecting her in some other new, strange way. It makes her a bit of a wildcard at times & to her peers in the superhero world, it seems to make her come off as a little flaky at times.
Still, Vika sees her unique condition as an opportunity. While her powers might not always make her the most reliable superhuman out there, she’s still convinced that she could still possibly make a difference.

I started off with another character but it was a little too ambitious & I wanted to keep things on track as possible. Happy with how the color on this one turned out. I don’t know if I explained the powers well enough but I wanted to go for something that wasn’t a traditional superpower. There probably is someone with this kind of ability out there, but I couldn’t think of them. So yeah. I’m not even that big on superheroes anymore. Anyway, just trying to get the ball rolling here. 30 Characters: 1 of 30, Character a Week: 14 of 52.
#1 Val.
This is Val. She is a Valravn of Nordic legend. A young girl caught up in a senseless war was killed and a raven ate her heart. The raven is transformed as the girl’s soul takes over, they become one and she becomes a knight dedicated to helping those caught up in war and violence all over the world. In raven form she travels. In human form she wears a hooded cape with army boots.
#1 Eclipse
Eclipse is a luxamancer and has the ability to absorb light. Â Depending on the extent to which he does this he can either simply shroud himself in shadows, becoming almost invisible, or can blanket a wide area in darkness, smothering all lights within it; the extent of this range has not been established but he has been known to cover an entire football pitch (about 8000 square meters).
He has three other abilities, both linked to his luxamancy, which are: the ability to see in complete darkness, as if it were daylight; to cope with extreme changes in light (from blinding to dark) with no issues; and to project the built up, absorbed ambiance …this can be as subtle as the level of a candle, blinding strobes, or as a burst of of all contained light at an intensity of in excess of 42.3 billion candela …bright enough to be seen from space and raising the immediate temperature to 300 °F/149 °C.  Doing so, however, weakens him.
Eclipse is also an excellent hand to hand combatant.
#1 – Fzzzzt!
A super villain with electrical powers. Pretty much standard fare – named after the noises he makes, he lacks originality!
Day 1 – Plasmama
Plasmama had both a normal childhood and a normal teenage life, until the day she lost both of her arms in an accident she doesn’t talk about. Not wanting to spend the rest of her life without arms, she had a pair of plasma ones built for her instead. She can change the shape of them at will, and can even make them relatively normal if she wants. Of course, when she’s out fighting crime she prefers something a little more intimidating..
(Had fun with her proportions, wanted to make her super curvy and a little psychotic looking. I started colouring her, but wasn’t happy with it so I fixed up the lineart instead)
2013 Challenger: Vernon Robinson
Hi all!!!
As a child, since age 3, I have been surrounded by the arts. But as I got older, I have dedicated my skills to drawing and illustrating. Basically starting honing my skills with Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, Cowboy Bebop, Disney, Power Rangers, and Video Game characters, even with Mangas and Comics.
Throughout the years, I have been proving to myself that I am indeed a talented artist, whether it was Anime, Cartoons or Video Games.
Right now, I am currently working on a project I call, Dark Alliance. I have written and transformed it into a fanfic, consisting of myself and some friends, with Japanese Visual Kei bands and musicians. I’ve gotten pretty creative with it. The site that I featured them on, multiply.com, was closed as of May 31, 2013 and transferred over to the Philippines and specifically for Indonesia. Luckily, I still have every single piece of work, including the original, in my possession. I am, in the process of finally, drawing out the characters and will most likely feature Squad Zero of the Dark Alliance in the 2013 Annual 30 Character Challenge, alongside other illustrations.
My style consists more of going off of the features of a human and turning them into that of an anime or a cartoon character. I am one for paying ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!! Lol…
I’m rambling now, so I guess I’ll bring this introduction to a close and say goodluck to everyone.
This is Vernon Robinson, signing out!!
Day 30
Less than 40 minuites to go (my time)
Red tigress is an interesting hero since most would assume she has some sort of super strength or invulnerbility. In fact she has neither. Although she does have training in different forms of martial arts, as well as an impressive bench of 258, she is not above regular human capabilities in these areas. But she can fly which she shows off at any opportunity. The woman does love her job.
