#22 – Black Betty (Beth Black)

| November 22, 2012 | 0 Comments

Most good criminals work to avoid violence. They understand that, once enough bodies pile up, no matter whose they are, law enforcement is essentially forced to investigate the matter and look into who or what is creating such a glut of cadavers.

Beth Black is not one of those people.

Too chaotic, unorganized and untrustworthy to be an assassin of the highest order, Beth Black is the kind of woman who believes that, if you’re going to kill someone, you should send a message in the process. None of Beth’s kills can be described as much less than “spectacular” or alternatively, “grisly”. Beth is the kind of woman who will leave her target hanging from a hook, wearing a Colombian Necktie when a simple bullet would do.

A firm proponent of psychological warfare as much as her own deadly prowess, Bethis not simply a ruffian from the wrong side of the tracks. She was the valedictorian of her class in New Orleans, before leaving on a scholarship for Louisiana State University. Always combative, manipulative and disruptive, Beth dropped out of college in her sophomore year when she decided she found the curriculum disinteresting and worthless. Beth floated around the Gulf Coast for two years, working as a bartender, an exotic dancer and dealing drugs in her free time before falling afoul of a local street gang. When the leader beat and attempted to rape her, she disemboweled and beheaded him,

Beth found the experience so liberating, so fulfilling, she decided to make a career of it. She is, arguably, a sadist, and slowly discovered that that fact was no accident, that she was not “normal”, and that she gained power, and ability through inflicting pain and suffering on others. Beth has been met by other heroes before, never to good ends, and most agree, her power resides in her ability to cause people physical pain, and to feed on that. She has a pathological desire to see anyone she has focused her gaze upon bleed.

Beth a highly intelligent woman who loves inverting expectations of her. She prefers any number of bladed weapons, and believes herself to be the walking incarnation of what a woman should be, playing by her own rules and forcing men to play by hers. She considers her “work” something of a ongoing class in modern anthropology, on how society deals with violence, and how a woman committing that violence destroys expectations.

An immensely versatile criminal, Beth’s biggest failing is her predilection for violence. It is exceedingly difficult for her to simply commit a crime without harming anyone. However, she has proved an adept thief and a fine liar. Promiscuous, careless about others, she was wormed her way into the lives of others, causing pain and havoc just to see how they would react.

#21 – Madelyn “Maddie” Lopez

| November 22, 2012 | 0 Comments

Maddie Lopez is a quiet, introverted 15-year-old girl, born the third child of four in a cluttered, noisy household. Maddie’s mother, an exceptionally strict Catholic, dominated over her children throughout their lives, a trait that only became greater when Maddie’s father died of a heart attack when she was just seven. Maddie’s sister, Isabella, took up the mantle of her mother’s right hand, baby-sitting her younger siblings and helping do the chores around the house while the eldest son, Miguel, was given free roam to go about the neighborhood and find his way. Maddie’s mother held her two daughters close, dishing out incredibly strict, and a times abusive discipline she called “love’.

Maddie and her siblings were latchkey kids, their mother worked two jobs to support the family after her father died, and Miguel and Isabella took control of the household. Miguel was rarely home, often in the streets, while Isabella quickly grew into a beautiful young woman, catching the eye of boys around the neighborhood. Maddie, however, pulled in where her other siblings reached out. She lost herself in books and comics, and wished the dramatic, luxurious life lived by people in musicals could be one she’d have. Maddie created worlds for herself where she was taller, prettier, and popular.

Most of all, and to her mother’s extreme distaste, Maddie idealized superheroes. Maddie’s mother, among other opinions, felt strongly that superheroes and their like were against nature, abominations running around the earth, absolute proof that the time of judgment was at hand, as the Anti-Christ and his acolytes were spreading their filth around the globe. More than once, Maddie endured a disciplinary beating from her mother upon being found with some magazine or poster praising heroes. The conflict between the opinion of heroes her mother had driven into her, how they were all tainted by evil, and the idealized reality created around them in gossip magazines and television left her always feeling exceptionally guilty about her interest, as if she wasn’t strong enough to resist the charms of evil.

A week before her 16th birthday, Maddie stayed home from school, sick. One day quickly turned into two, and two into three as Maddie ran a fever, racked with nausea and chills. The symptoms lasted for four days before breaking. Maddie had a day of peace, returning to school and inviting friends to her 16th birthday party when she noticed an odd discoloration of the skin on her right hand. The discoloration continued throughout the day, creeping up her arm, her skin turning a sickly grayish blue, her fever returning. Maddie made it all the way home, where she reported her affliction to her mother, who immediately banished her to her room, believing she had become possessed.

Early that evening, Maddie manifested her powers, her body changing from a gawky teen to a seven-and-a-half foot tall demonic creature with greyish-blue skin and two horns atop her head. Still distinctly human-looking (her face, while different, is still identifiably hers), Maddie’s mother nevertheless had all but a complete meltdown upon seeing her new daughter, declaring that her child had been taken by Satan, and attempted to murder Maddie, sending her confused daughter out into the streets alone.

Now, Maddie is still a 16-year-old girl in a new body, being forced to live a new life she is wholly unprepared for. She is still learning the extent of her abilities, including the capability to turn herself into smoke, an immensely accelerated healing factor, and the capability to breathe fire. Despite her powers, Maddie is still at her core a clumsy, shy 16-year-old girl, thrust out of her home, a freak, even among superheroes.

Day 22 – Demolitioner

| November 22, 2012 | 0 Comments

Real Name – Jimmy Neward

Aliases – the Pirate, the Woe

Powers – Jimmy can destroy almost everything hard with his touch. Everything he touches instantly covers in cracks, then crumbles to splinters and dust. His power doesn’t work on soft and liquid materials, like human skin, water or air, although it works on bones.

Day 20 and 21 – Dave and Ariella the Elven Warrior Queen

| November 21, 2012 | 0 Comments

Dave is a socially awkward but brilliant hacker. He did however cross the wrong crowd and is now on the run from several mob hitmen. One day, somehow, Ariella, a fantasy character he had created in a video game became flesh and blood. Ariella is pretty annoyed with Dave, her creator who she considers a very creepy loser. However, since she suspects that they are linked and that his death would probably mean the end of her existence too, she is forced to protect him from the various hitmen gunning for him.

Day 19 – Raptor Wrestler

Pretty self-eplanatory

Day 21-Moonlight

| November 21, 2012 | 0 Comments

Moonlight has the ability during the night while the Moon is high in the sky to generate a glow around himself. He can control the intensity of this glow to go from a mild, flashlight like beam all the way up to being able to stun and paralyze his opponents. On the night of the full moon the glow gains enough power that Moonlight can actually generate enough force to shatter solid objects or completely fry the brain of another person.

Day 21

The Next Kind’s

ORGIX

Character Biography:

The Planet Jorol, 3 million years from now.  Humankind has evolved and spread all over the known Universe, taking new and almost unrecognizable forms in the process.  On Jorol, 7 offshoots of mankind have risen to form their own civilizations and cultures.  One of those is the amphibious beings known as The Picaris.  They live along the southern swamp coasts of Nelocianis, and have a society based along hunting and ocean harvesting.  Their technology matches that of any of their neighbors.  The Picaris are asexual, and reproduce once every 7 years.  Picaris have a rigid caste system based upon birth.  Any hope of a Picaris making their way to anything other than what they or their ancestors was born into was thought of as impossible by their cultural standards.

It was into this world was born one Orgix.  Orgix was from the agrarian class.  His lineage was that of simple farmers, and could only hope for a life as such.  Yet Orgix dreamed of being an explorer, and adventurer.  Orgix would get his chance however when through cercumstance brought Prince Doule from the Northern land dwelling kingdom of Kortha.  Doule brought word of the invasion by the beings made of living metal known as the Frahl Wraiths, their utter devistation of Kortha and other lands along the planet.  This did not move the Picaris however, as they had had little diplomatic contact with the other six nations of Jorol in decades.  Orgix had been the first Picaris that Doule encountered, he brought Doule before the council and had heard his words.  They moved him and he offered himself up for service as Doule’s attempt to do battle with the Frahl Wraiths.  Doule at first seemed aprehensive about having a simple farmer in his ranks, but saw the eagerness and bravery in Orgix’s heart, and took it upon himself to train Orgix as a soldier and warrior.  The two became close friends and traveled the rest of Jorol to gather the peoples of this world in mutual defense.

Day 21 | Mechaninferno

| November 21, 2012 | 1 Comment

2012 – DAY 21

All characters are created by my 5 year-old son, The Junior Partner.  He has either drawn these characters on his own and I have recreated them here, or he has sat at my elbow dictating design and conceptual ideas like a creative, but frenetic, taskmaster.

MECHANINFERNO

The Junior Partner prefers Batman to Superman in almost all ways, but he loves the villain, Metallo.  He loves armor and robots of all kinds, but Metallo is very fascinating to him mainly, I think, due to the whole concept that the villain is powered by the hero’s ultimate weakness.  Plus, the whole skin coming off and revealing a robot underneath .. he’s going to freak out when he gets to see Terminator 2.

So Mechaninferno is a guy who controls fire via mechanical/cyborg/robot arms.  That’s pretty much all of the backstory that I could wrangle out of him.  The new Ninja Turtles cartoon was on.

#21 Switch

| November 21, 2012 | 0 Comments

Ronald Meyers was an average man, physically unimpressive, though intelligent and thoroughly educated. He worked as a lab assistant in a government observatory, which unbeknownst to him was conducting experiments with the newest electron telescope to analyze the nuclear reactions of the sun and tap into tidal forces from it at a quantum level. One miscalculation and massive explosion later, Ronald awoke to find that he had not only survived, he had gained the ability to convert his body mass to radiant energy and vice versa. Using this new ability to augment himself to superhuman levels of strength and endurance, he set out to fight crime and seek out the manufacturers of shoddy scientific equipment.

#19 – Yuan

| November 21, 2012 | 0 Comments

Bodyguards, as a general rule, are not supposed to be short-tempered alcoholics, but Yuan makes it work somehow. An immense, imposing figure, Yuan would be dangerous enough under normal circumstances, but Yuan is not normal. Yuan boasts four completely articulate, strong arms, and is capable of wielding weapons in each hand with ease and deadly capability.

A member of “The Guard”, a multi-national bodyguard agency, Yuan, for all of his faults his inability to blend or be anything close to refined, is a immensely loyal and capable protector. Impulsive, but never reckless, especially with the lives of his clients, Yuan is the kind of bodyguard that, by his very presence, can deter would be thieves, kidnappers and murderers.

Born in Hong Kong in 1975, Yuan’s natural predilections for carousing are beginning to wear a little on him (his gut’s larger than it was when he was 20, for instance), but he still retains as keen a mind for finely applied violence as any soldier or assassin. He brings with him a spotless record, having never lost a client even to some of the most determined assassins, and has even managed some spectacular feats of guarding while well over the legal limit.

Yuan is loud, occasionally boorish, but a genuine man of convictions. He has pledged his life to guarding and protecting others, and takes his job very seriously. Surprisingly, for all his carousing, he does not have a weakness for women. Yuan’s fortitude and seeming six sense for danger are nearly legendary. Yuan is an avid fan of full-contact and combat sports.

#11 Bertram the Sentient Beef & Bean Burrito

| November 21, 2012 | 3 Comments

#11 Bertram the Sentient Beef & Bean Burrito

Bertram believes his own sentience began on the production floor of the Basura Burrito (a division of the Scrimm Group) Processing Plant one year ago. He believes he has partial memories of his time being wrapped, packaged, & flash frozen. But it wasn’t until he was distributed to Southern Indiana & placed in a Hyung (also a division of the Scrimm Group) Mk III Standard Residential Microwave unit & placed on high for 4 minutes & 30 seconds instead of the recommended 1 minute & 30 seconds, that he gained his powers.

Bertram is now the most powerful burrito on Earth. He can power & control most standard household appliances at a range of 20 yards, while also having the ability to speak telepathically with other frozen faux Mexican cuisine. He also possesses limited telekinesis, giving him the ability of flight & to shape a humanoid body out of the intense electromagnetic current he constantly bathes in. He communicates via the digital timer slot of his “microwave battle armor”, but only in four letter bursts, as that is the max number of characters the timer is built for.

—-

This comes from me thinking about old timey superhero origin stories. They’re all either doses of radioactivity and/or exposure to chemicals. And if that were true, between the radiation of a microwave & the amount of preservatives pumped into its production, your standard hot pocket should by all accounts give you godlike powers, not diarrhea.

The jump to actually make the foodstuff sentient? I don’t know, really. I think I just wanted to draw something with a microwave for a head. It’s dumb, but I’m pretty happy with it for absolutely no good reason.

#20 Pony Girl

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Pony Girl is a character from Ian T. Healy’s Just Cause Universe super-hero novel “Day of the Destroyer”. I’m working on a cover for him that will feature her and another main character in a perilous situation and this is the study I did to get the outfit and general appearance right. She’s a super-speedster from the 1970s.

A little bit of samurai, mixed with a whole lot of Appleseed exmachina, with a dash of the new Halo 4 weapon design. My guess is he is just about to light up an alien vehicle and get a killtacular. LOL

( Edit: 11/21 Went in and redrew this guys legs. Updated the image. I hated the original legs. They looked all dwarf like and out of proportion. Feeling much better about them now. Hope you guys agree. 😀 )

This bad boy hangs out in the ancient Mayan temples of Kukulkan. He sits motionless in a hidden chamber guarding the sacred crystal skull of Andromeda. He is made of stone and can not be budged, unless the crystal skull is threatened or approached. He then becomes animated, his animal skull head ignites with flame and he becomes your worst nightmare.

#9 Naoko Atsugi: Magic Girl PM

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

#9 Naoko Atsugi: Magic Girl PM

Seventeen years ago, klutzy, unassuming schoolgirl Naoko Atsugi found a magical wand on her way to school one morning. Next to it was a talking Yorkie named Orion, who told her it was the descendent of benevolent Alien Royalty & that it was her destiny to protect the Earth. Upon a wave of the wand & a few mystical words, she became Cadet Virgo, leader of the Magical Zodiac Cadets. Over the course of their high school career, her & her friends, the other Zodiac Cadets, vanquished the evil Queen Thanatas, Empress of the Underworld, & in the process saved the world.

Saving the world from the clutches of an Evil Sorceress can bring a pretty high profile with it. First, as a newsworthy pop idol, were the endorsement deals. Then as an established celebrity came the modeling jobs. Next thing she new, Naoko was jetsetting around the world with the International Fashion Elite. Part time model. Part time Patron. She became close friends with designer Maxwell Coburn, who went on to create some Haute Couture just for her. The ironic thing was that Coburn’s chief source of inspiration was none other than Cadet Virgo’s arch-nemesis, Queen Thanatas, causing some fans to question what was happening to their beloved heroine. Privately, there wasn’t an agenda. She liked the clothes & spending so much time in the public eye, she liked the idea of playing with how it was that she was perceived.

Much more recently, Naoko has become much more serious, & gotten herself interested in politics. She decided to run for Prime Minister. When her detractors argued she had absolutely no experience in leading a nation, in an impassioned speech, she contended that “[she] successfully spent [her] teenage years leading fellow high school girls in a fight against an omnipotent mystical threat just fine, how hard could a Nation be?”

It secured her the nomination.

—-

This took forever because apparently the one thing I have more trouble drawing than anything is Haute Couture. It doesn’t make sense to me. And yes, the shameless Daphne Guinness vibe is intentional, & probably way too obvious. Anyway, the one line idea for this one goes back to the first year I did the 30 Characters. On my list, this was right next to “Luchadore President” (which I think was just Luchadore in a suit or something, but I ended up making him president anyhow): Magical Shoujo Girl PM. But since I already had a president character, I never got around to working on it past always thinking it’d be weird if she was this fashionista that dressed vaguely like the villain she used to battle.

Recently, on Entervoid, an artist named Jetster posted an awesome Grown Up Shoujo Girl character of their own, & it made me think back to my old character prompt again. But while I only finished Naoko for the sake of this challenge, you should go check out Jetster’s Lady Vanity comics because they’re pretty cool!

Day 20: The Flying Fox

| November 20, 2012 | 1 Comment

The first in my creation of antagonists:

Red Jackson just wants to be a super hero. He’s trained for the combat, researched the patterns of the city crime, and has the flying apparatus he needs to swoop down in the night. Why do they make it so hard? First, it wasn’t his fault that the thief he’d been chasing had tripped off the ledge and fallen to his death. Then when the police tried to arrest him for vigilantism… he didn’t mean to break the cops arm, but what was he supposed to do? His identity was at stake. He needed money to fix his damaged gliding wings… if he hadn’t been there to stop the bank robbery, the money would have been stolen anyway. Didn’t the bank owe him, technically? Now they’re all after him, the police and the other so called “super heroes”. He’ll show them what it means to be truly dedicated to justice. He’ll show them all.

(I’m sure “Flying Fox” is not the most original superhero name in the world. I wasn’t feeling particularly creative today.)

Day 20: 21st Century Sandshark Studios Presents: DOULE

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

21st CENTURY SANDSHARK STUDIOS PRESENTS

A DAN NOKES HAPPENING…

THE 30 CHARACTERS IN 30 DAYS CHALLENGE

DAY 20: DOULE

CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY: 3 million years in the future the human race has expanded into the far reaches of Universe.  Much of these civilizations of yet to come, are unaware of their earthly origins.  Many of these civilizations are made up of the descendants of mankind could hardly be recognizable from us today. One of the worlds our descendents will colonize is millions of light years away and known to its inhabitants as Jorol.  It was colonized 2 million years ago by several parties.  These groups eventually grew into seven distinct offshoots of the human race, having adapted to their particular climates and habitats.

One of these offshoots are called The Norlympians.  They resemble us physically for the most part.  Their culture is that collection of city states that bands together for economic and defensive purposes.  One of the most powerful of these city states is that of Kortha, a people who pride themselves on its cosmopolitan, city and market driven society.  Its military, economy, and, and society were the envy of its neighbors.  Its leader was chosen from the patrician classes and is known as the First Prime.  The  current First Prime at the beginning of our tale was Martelle of the House of Valden.  His son was a up and coming Military Commander by the name of Doule.  Doule was a brilliant warrior, soldier, statesman, and tactician.  He was also smug and arrogant sort that bought into the propaganda of Kortha supremacy in the grand scheme of things.

This world view was shattered when a long thought lost race that once occupied the surface world of Jorol, before being driven underground.  It took them eons to rebuild, but finally they found the resource and opportunity to re-take their homeworld.  These organic metal beings are known as the Frahl Wraiths.  They rose to the surface one evening, without warning, and with their terrible arsenal and military might, laid waste to Kortha in one evening, slaughtering over 80% of the population, and taking those few that did not escape into slavery.  Doule managed to escape, but not without witnessing the deaths of his men, his parents and the abduction of his younger sister, Clarene. Doule, managed to make it to his Grandfather’s villa, 20 miles north.  There he recovers and begins his quest to free his people from captivity, turn back the Frahl Wraiths, and return peace and security to the seven nations of Jorol.  To do this though, he will need to enlist the aid of the rulers of those nations.  A task not so simple, when one considers Norlympia has had strained relations with these nations for centuries…

Day 20-Yell

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Yell discovered as a teenager that he could change the pitch of his voice to hit a note that would allow him to incapacitate others or if taken high enough could actually kill. The note when used by Yell can also be pitched to shatter walls or stop cars. The only problem Yell has is that first time he discovered the note he also shattered his eardrums. As such he has too be extra careful about using it and has on occasion had the note get out of his control. Even with this risk he is still determined to rock and to bring the battle to crime.

#20 – SafeGuard – The superhero Team comprised of The Guardian, Man-ifold, Sanctuary, Dawn Titan and Backlash.

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

The City of Golden Bridge was a thriving and beautiful metropolis, playing home to a diverse mix of people, some of whom are the greatest superheroes known to man.

Heroes like The Guardian, one of the oldest and most beloved heroes of all time, his superhuman strength and resistance stemming from an experimental muscular stimulant created by the government. The guardian was the only volunteer on the program to gain any such attributes. He uses his newfound strength to stand up as a beacon of hope in the face of all danger. Protecting the streets from all manner of evil.

On the other hand you have the hero known as Man-ifold. He is young and out spoken, seen as a joker but always charming.  His abilities allow him to create duplicates of himself, up to hundreds of them. This allows him to fight against greater odds and win; it also allows him to do more tasks at once. The public loves him but his comedic attitude has him seen as somewhat of a fool in the hero community.

Apollo the ancient sun god left a human trinket on earth that contained a great deal of his power. This power was to be used in the face of pure evil as a way to light the path in the darkest of times. The Dawn Titan is the current wielder of that power. Manifesting itself in different ways in each host, Dawn Titan was granted control over the Suns rays. He can store all its energy in his skin to be unleashed when needed, used as a powerful force blast to either take flight or dispatch foes. The energy also forms a bronze like armor around Dawn Titan making him incredible tough.

Sanctuary is the most powerful female hero currently on Earth. Being able to weave and manipulate all kinetic energy around her make the possibilities of her powers almost limitless, forming protective shields around herself and others, or forcing her body through the air in graceful flight, the energy can be twisted and used at great force. With more belief in herself Sanctuary could be the worlds greatest hero.

Mysterious and unnerving are the terms most often seen in the reports of Backlash. He is said to have never spoken to anyone, not even those he helps. He turns up when people are in dire need or help and uses his power to absorb and reuse any and all force to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

All five of these heroes swore their lives to protect Golden Bridge, but it wasn’t until the vile villain known as Corruption nearly wiped out the city that they join as one, to become SafeGuard.

Corruption had used his fear enduing mind powers to turn all the citizens of Golden Bridge in to weak, helpless creatures to scared to even go outside.  Corruption grew more and more powerful the worse the situation got until The heroes alone could no longer confront him. The Guardian rallied them together and they set out to best Corruption. Man-ifold creating an army of himself to face the foe head on with the help of the sun powered Dawn Titan whilst Sanctuary and The Guardian prepared for the second phase. The army of Man-ifold overwhelmed Corruption whilst Dawn Titan protected the original version. Corruption forced to go super nova ready to unleash a city ruining amount of fear energy, in an instant the Man-ifold army all gathered back into the original as The Guardian, protected by Sanctuary grabbed Corruption and aimed all his energy at Backlash. Backlash absorbed it all and with one final breath before collapsing sent it all back at Corruption with an uppercut.

The day was won, the city saved, Corruption stopped and a team was born.

#20 Night Hawk

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

INTERVIEWER:  Thanks for joining us tonight for this interview Mr., um..Hawk. I know that your time is valuable.

NH: The streets are a rising tide of crime that never stops. I need to surf that tide, for the protection of ordinary people.

INTERVIEWER:  I see. Well, I’m sure that we all appreciate your crimefighting work. And I’m just as sure that we would all love to know more about you. Can you tell us about yourself?

NH:  I am the night.

INTERVIEWER:  Okaaaaay, about that; where did you come by your “work name”? Are you swooping down on street crime like a hawk?

NH: I use the fear of my enemies against them. I use control of my own fear to show them the darkness of their ways.

INTERVIEWER:  You’re…afraid of birds?

NH: No, there is this painting-people in a lonely diner at night. It always filled me with dread. A dread my enemies now share.

INTERVIEWER: Excuse me, did you just say you make your enemies afraid of a painting? Why are you dressed like a bird?

NH:  Criminals are a superstitious and ignorant lot. I don’t think they would get the reference.

INTERVIEWER:  So, you dress up as a bird and fight crime…because you were scared of a painting?

NH:  I am the night.

INTERVIEWER: Okay…I’m getting word that we’re out of time. Thank you very much for the interview Mister Hawk. Careful of the doorframe, I noticed your helmet seems a little hard on your peripheral vision.

NH: I stay focused on the crime in front of me.

INTERVIEWER:  Good idea.

#20 – Jen Prime

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

The pod containing abstract creation material (we would probably refer to it as “genetic”) shot off into space, its planet of launch destroyed as per the Protocols of Ta’aru. Rather than a kingdom of black magicians, however, the pod landed just outside of the fabled Cloning Centers of Wollstonecraft, in the kingdom of Hypatia. The material assembled itself into an infant and was found by a couple of  scientists, who saw this event as a beautifully improbable statistical anomaly and adopted the infant as their own.

Jen Prime is Champion of the kingdom of Hypatia, an all-female science-centric country where women reproduce via artificial parthenogenesis using clones and in vitro fertilization. She’s from the parish of Wollstonecraft, known for its work advancing genetic engineering. She’s the kingdom’s five-time Science Throwdown Champ, and is perhaps a little too proud of her hometown and her achievements. She’s also proud of her Maori heritage (via one of her mothers) and wears the moko, or facial tattoo as part of that lineage.

She possesses the usual powers of a Champion of Ta’aru: flight, superhuman strength and durability, heightened senses, an inquisitive, activist nature, and the ability to focus her chi into energy that can be projected. Her ‘Special’ is the ability to perceive and analyze any substance, breaking it down into its component parts and perceiving any weaknesses.
