#23 Joseph Webb – the living zombie
When bitten by the overpowering horde of the undead Accountant Joseph Webb thought he was done for. Â Several hours later he awoke in Baron Karsa’s secret laboratory where the mad scientist was perfecting a cure to zombification. As with most of Karsa’s experiments the method got a little garbled and he was able to restore Webb’s mind and more importantly his self control over the desire to needlessly tear into the flesh of the living (zombies have no digestive system). Â After the zombie outbreak was wiped out Joseph returned to his previous career as a top accountant.
#25 Dracon
Draco is like a dog, loyal, obedient and loves games. His favorite game is fetch and all the variations with the game such as fetch the hero’s skull or fetch the entrails of the next passerby. Sometimes the unfortunate souls don’t even know they’ve wandered into Dracon’s play time area before it is too late. Once they’ve set foot in his vicinity they’re automatically agreed to play, the other unfortunate part is that the games never end until the traveler has expired…
His sharp claws allow him to open most armor and if it doesn’t rip open, they’re thin and long enough to dig into most openings in the armor. His dome cowl provides him with protection from mental and magical disruptions from playing the game he’s currently enjoying with his current playmate. The perfect playmate for anyone.
#24 – Olaf
After a long day of pillaging and plundering the royal kingdoms… what’s a good swamp goblin to do? Kick back some ale, that’s what…
#25 – Vlad
A child of privilege from the city’s outer suburbs, “Vlad†is a kid deep, deep into his vampire phase. Because vampires are powerful and sexy, and above petty mortal concerns like senior thesis and prom. When he’s a vampire, nobody gets to call him Albert, which is an old, stupid name. As a vampire, he’s not stuck in a dead town or ostracized by the few people his own age.
#24 – Mr. Fletching
A professional janitor and amateur physics enthusiast, Mr. Fletching spends all of his spare time fiddling with radios and electrical equipment. He’s a massive scatterbrain, with a head full of random bits of math and physics that he only half understands. Most of the equipment that fills his small apartment in the city is junk recovered from dumpster dives, or purchased from thrift stores, but he believes firmly that he’s discovered scientific proof for everything from telekinesis to Atlantean power stone technology. Of course, thanks to his free form take on the scientific method, none of this is really repeatable, let alone verifiable. He’s become rather more eccentric since the flood, since the increased incidence of paranormal phenomena gives Mr. Fletching what he really wants; a reason not to be a janitor anymore.
#23 – Sid Browne
When mass reports of ghosts started coming in after the flood, the city was subject to a deluge of self-proclaimed psychics. Some were simply convinced they had a gift, while others had more sinister intentions.
There’s a certain kind of person that sees a tragedy and thinks, “What can I get out of this?†Sid Browne is exactly that kind of person. He feels the world owes him something, and whatever material gain he can get out of the people around him is entirely justified, because he’s smarter than they are. So he has no compunction about telling people about all of the (fictional) cases he’s helped the police on, or the (non-existent) messages the families of the dead are sending them from their eternal resting place.

The Keeper gives Cain the Seal to help in his battles against Lilith’s children. The Seal is the “Seal of Solomon”, a powerful ring that gives it’s bearer the ability to control Demons and speak with animals. Cain arrives at every assignation to late, finding only death and destruction at the hands of Lilith’s execution squad. Not willing to give up he finds the home of Abel’s last decedents, and crashes into the middle of the assassination attempt. He sees a young girl about to have her throat sliced and kills her attacker. He than uses the Ring to command any and all demons in the area to grab the other assassins. He takes the young girl,  Chasya Ableson to safety and tells her he’s her long lost uncle Nic.
Cain has been protecting and training Chasya to fight against Lilith’s children for ten years under identity of her Uncle Nic. She doesn’t know that he is really Cain the first murder or about his ring to control demons. Neither he or Chasya  know why Lilith has targeted Abel’s decedents but they are tired of hiding. They’ve decided to take the fight to Lilith herself. In a war to save his brothers family, Cain hopes to find redemption for the murder of his brother Abel.

Guilty, Remorseful, Creative, Strategist, Agriculture, Architect
Powers / Abilities / Skills:
Advanced hand to hand combat, Swordsmanship, Marksmanship, Â Occult, Partially Immortal, Invulnerability to human weapons
Seal of Solomon (Ring): Demon control, Ability to talk to animals.
Notes:
I thought it would be fun to put Cain in the anti-hero position. Â He’s the first murder, but he’s trying to redeem himself. I also like making him a Devil killer, with a mystic ring that allow him to control lower level demons. In my first year during the 30 Character Challenge I created Andrew the Keep of the Seal. He was always intended to be used in a horror type comic series. In this new story he passes the ring over to Cain.

2013 Challenge: Day 23:- Greyjaw
Greyjaw is your typical spawn of the Pit, and a great salesman to boot! Small home appliances, mostly.
#21 – Steven Piet
The owner of the cab company where Edwin Michigan works, Steven Piet is a young man saddled with heavy responsibilities. A worrier by experience, Mr. Piet is a friendly guy, but not particularly pleasant to be around, given that he sees the worst side of everything. He’s also part of the vast majority of his city’s citizens who don’t care one way or the other if ghosts exist or not. To him, Edwin and Mala are welcome to continue doing whatever they want as long as it doesn’t put the company at any risk.
#22 – Wrong
There’s a light in the doorway, music playing and the sounds of inviting conversation, but there’s a faint smell, like the scent of burning hair. And the music is wrong. The notes don’t fit together properly, the voices aren’t saying words. It’s the soft shushing of something rustling, like dry paper or wet leaves.
#20 – Consume
This ghost is all that remains of a man who was convinced that the world had it in for him. By blaming everyone else for his failures, he drove those around him away. A possessive spirit, he wanders the city trying to connect with people in the only way he knows how; by attempting to control them.
#20 Kathy Jones – Astronaut Space Zombie Killer
When Commander Kathy Jones and her crew first landed on Yelara VII they discovered a planet ravaged by a zombie plague, its entire inhabitants turned into mindless flesh craving zombies. Jones’ crew were overrun and she was left to defend the spaceship and make her escape. Â Eventually others landed on the planet and space zombies would find their way off the planet. Â Kathy now travels the universe destroying them.
#19 – Silver
Perhaps the biggest symbol of the gleaming new city that has risen out of the ashes of the old is the brand new elevated train system that carts people to and fro in the downtown area. Before the disaster, the city had a ground-level trolley system, vastly less efficient than the shiny new trains.
Of course, all this was quite expensive. In order to cut costs, the city bought older train cars and used the parts from the old trolleys to repair them. This has proven to be a mistake, as the spirits of those who died on their morning commute began appearing in the seats of the new trains.
Day 14 Ms. Dark Song
Ms Dark Song has aspirations to be a headline singer in a big-time Vegas-style act. The devil, they say, is in the details, and Dark Song struck a deal with a dark and strange “other worldly” talent scout. In exchange for her soul, Dark now has what she needs to climb her ladder to success. Meanwhile, her enchanting songs put people into a dark trance, leaving the weakest of souls to never awaken from it.
017 – Demon Brothers Henry and Roland
Technically, they’re half-human, half-demon.  They’re one year apart, Henry being the oldest.  Wanted to show both their full demon form and partial one.  Both of them also have a pair of wings and Henry’s the only one with the bottom pair of fangs.  They’re proper young men, or at least their parents hopes so, though Roland tends to slack on schoolwork.  They have been advocated by the angel Serenitatem.
#19 the public transport soul sucker
The public transport soul sucker is an alien parasite that attaches itself to various modes of public transport and then feeds on the hopes and dreams of the passengers. Â The creature itself is invisible to the human eye and it can be physically felt when it draws its victims souls out as it secretes a numbing agent that renders them almost catatonic.
There is no real way to eradicate the soul sucker, best buy a car*.
*Or is that what the big car companies WANT you to do?!?!? Â Maybe it was THEM who introduced this vile space infestation???!
#17 – Gran Harrelson
One of the oldest living people in the city, living in the oldest apartment building that survived the flood, Gran Harrelson is an old age pensioner whose biggest struggle these days is just making ends meet. To that end, Gran sells old-timey folk charms to ward off the dead that plague her building. She’s been so effective at working up a reputation that everyone from floor five and up are convinced she’s Alestair Crowley’s ex-mistress.
Of course, that does nothing for their actual effectiveness. Her charms are written in Sharpie on cheap printer paper. Her cash register is brand new, though.
#14 – ST-4PH
In the Phaelanyx galaxy… it was discovered that the brain is the most important part of the body… and that bodies are in fact a distraction. At birth, a small scientifically selected group is set aside to produce future generations of the species. After they’ve served for reproduction reasons (or are deemed not to be breeders) the head is removed from the body and plugged into the codex… where the brain is programmed, and cultivated. But every now and then, an anomaly arises… This anomaly is named ST-4PH.
#16 – Runner
After the flood, most of the city’s poor congregated in the few buildings that managed to survive. As the government rebuilt the financial and industrial centers of the city, the less fortunate spent what resources they could to make their new homes livable. The only real similarity between the bright, shiny new buildings of downtown and the ramshackle tenement buildings of the old city are that neither could expunge their spirits through simple reconstruction. Just as the city center has its wandering dead commuters, the damaged apartment buildings play host to the lingering souls of former inhabitants.
The Runner is a particularly intense spirit that inhabits a stairwell in one of the tallest buildings in the old city. Every night, it can be heard rushing headlong down the stairs, only to disappear at the bottom and reappear at the top. No one has been able to find anything out about it, other than that it does not like being seen.
