Day 30 – Ms. Mask
Ms. Mask is a mysterious person of unknown origin. She has cuts all over her body and always wears a mask (probably to cover scars on her face). The mask is also broken, suggesting she has been in many fights after she put on the mask. No one has actually seen her fight, but everyone is afraid of her. What is her secret? We may never know.
#29 – Black Friday
What started off as a simple day to get a bunch of Christmas shopping done and save some money in the process, soon began to grow and grow… Little did financial-minded retailers knew they were giving birth to an entity that would soon consume the nation and even the world. Black Friday has grown out of control… it now overshadows the holiday of Thanksgiving and turns even the sanest of people into monsters who will do anything (even kill innocent people) in their quest to snag a bargain. Can anything stop Black Friday… or is it too late for that?
#30 – The Unscribe
An ancient creature whose pen can manipulate the memories of everyone in existence… Â Full text to be included later.
#18 – The Crown of Ctharin
No one is really sure where the Crown of Ctharin came from, and given the highly public nature of it, it has been deemed impossible to get rid of without causing War with its home country of Mulgarona. Â Why it does it’s sadistic machinations, no one is sure, all they know is that it warps the minds of all those who wear it into fulfilling stories. Â A Prince or Princess will rise to the throne, and then they become part of the story – they will meet who the crown chooses, fall in love with who the crown chooses and frequently, murder who the crown chooses. Â Frequently as they get older it will switch the roles, a handsome young prince will suddenly become an Evil King, only to be slain by a young hero who takes the crown for themselves and the process begins again… Â No Arcane reports of Mulgarona have come up with any viable way of breaking the process, and on occasions when people have come close, the crown itself has been known to strike people dead with fire from the eye-like jewel that forms the centrepiece…
#16 – The High Matriach
The High Matriach is in the unique position to be simultaneously the most feared, but most necessary mortal in this Galaxy.  Mortal may be stretching it a bit admittedly, she has a prospective lifespan consisting of most of the rest of the duration of the Universe, and due to the prophecy-curses of her species  is unavailable but by another member of her kind, of which there are very few.  She is cruel, callous and controls the largest army in the Galaxy.  However, this army is also the only thing stopping the things outside our Galaxy getting in…
While most earth literature focuses on the idea of Earth begin invaded or destroyed, the challenge for the Matriach is that might happen to our Galaxy. Â When a Universe dies, not all that was born of it necessarily dies too, and therefore are ancient even as our own Universe forms around us, and long to colonize the new Solar Systems as their own and recreate their worlds. Â Most of the time they succeed. Â Currently the Matriach fights a war on 3 fronts – against the titanic armoured Ur-Gods of Xzar, the endlessly replicating Vordanian Null-men and the hordes infected by the evil Sentient PX3k12 Virus. Â The Matriach may burn worlds, knowingly send a trillion to their death in an unwinnable battle and break apart the very fabric of the universe itself for a victory… Â but the alternatives are worse….
#30 – Death
This is the grave of Mrs. Pardee’s mother. She never came back, she has no message to pass on to her daughter. While stories of the risen dead give us hope for another chance at life, the simple fact remains that whether you believe it to be the final end or just another change of scenery, death awaits us all.
#29 – Mrs. Pardee
A middle-aged woman who lives in a well-maintained old house in the suburbs outside of the city, Mrs. Pardee never had a real interest in the spirit world until the flood came. She spends many nights trying everything she can think of to contact her departed mother, who died many years before the flood. Dowsing rods, Ouija boards, crystals, voice recorders left on in empty rooms, Mrs. Pardee has tried it all, and the lack of anything more concrete than a few hand spasms and unintelligible static on a tape has done nothing to diminish her infinite well of hope.
#28 – Conceal
A spirit far older than the flood that so recently devastated the city, this ghost is an amalgam of souls that died as a result of the train that once traveled across the now-defunct trestle. Long since past its prime and in disrepair, the old stories about a man eating monster that would lure unsuspecting children to the train trestle to die have largely faded into irrelevancy. Now without a purpose or even a memory, the spirit fades as children stomp on the remains of its grave.
Day 29: Demon King
Jumping back to Demonstar for today. This is the “end boss” of the module. 3d model (and print) by myself, MS Paint render by my talented brother, Cameron Croft.
Day 28: Trollwife
In the peat bogs deep within the Ironwood, the trollwives birth monstrous wolves. One day, the greatest of these wolves, Fenrir, will take to the sky and swallow the moon. This is one of the playing pieces for my 3D print-and-play game, Pocket-Tactics, which may be downloaded for free here.
Day 27 – Katha
Katha is a sweet little kitten who wouldn’t hurt a flea. Humans on the other hard are quite delicious.
#27 Timothy and the Wejub
Timothy was your average child before he discovered that he could manifest the Wejub. Â The Wejub is considered to be a loathsome creature in appearance that has a gentle soul but is influenced by its bonded human. Â Timothy uses the Wejub to wreak havoc and revenge on any classmate that may have wronged or slighted him in the most minor way.
Despite the Wejub’s horrible appearance it is Timothy who is the real monster, abusing his connection to the Wejub and forcing it to commit horrible atrocities.
#27 – Trestle
In any boring town where there’s nothing to do after the lights go out, teenagers will find some old, dilapidated structure to gather around. In the remains of the old city, kids climb up onto the train trestle that collapsed during the flood. Built in the 18th century, the city didn’t bother rebuilding it, and now it stands as a kind of monument to the forgotten half of the population.
Day 19 – Blue Tiger
Been getting into sketching and inking on toned paper. Very fun. Here is Day number 19 and its a character from my Z-Girl and the 4 Tigers conic series. Blue Tiger. Blue is one of 4 Tigers who are human hots for ancient chinese warrior spirits. You can learn more about Z-Girl and the 4 Tigers at zgirl.org
Day 27: Forest Troll
Another character from the Brood of the Ironwood set for my game, Pocket-Tactics. The full set, along with its matched faction (Men of Midgard) is shown below.
#26 Chlaulthu
Deep beneath the mountain labyrinth is a crypt. There is something which never should be awaken…
#26 – Revenant
The term “revenant†is actually a fairly generic term for any shambling corpse that reanimates itself after death. Stories of the walking dead — and there are many — are the genesis of creature people in later years have come to know as vampires. Though the modern age may have granted it an air of power, at heart the vampire is just another rotting corpse that wants to eat people.
