Returning Challenger 2012: Rachel Ross
I played along last year, and managed to get 30 characters done – but a lot of them were “pretty terrible”.
So this year, I want to churn out 30 characters that are “less terrible”.
I’ve been practicing, but not as much as I should!
Here’s my website, where I will cross-post these characters: Glimmerville
2012 Returning Challenger-Melanie Dawn McGreevey
I am back! and so ready.  I hit all 30 last year, after only getting to 16 the year before.  Sadly only a few of my entries will be in color (after testing out my markers) Many are dried up, and i can’t afford a new set.  Anyway, goodluck to everyone! 😀
This is Crackshot

The 30 Characters Challenge is an annual challenge brought to you by:
Crystal Rollins – 30 Characters in 30 Days
Well, I did it. About all I did this month was cook, draw characters, and watch Deep Space 9. I’m hoping that I’ll have a chance in the next few months to dive back into research on the Hanseatic League and the 1500’s in the low-countries of Europe. But for now, here’s the breakdown!
  Â
And you can find the rest of the written entries here: http://www.30characters.com/author/plotholetsi/
The only part I feel bad about is that I wasn’t able to finish all the entries as drawings. But in the end, I’m not certain how much time that saved me, because I ended up spending 30-40 minutes a piece even writing up new characters! I know one thing, though: I’m really excited about this book. I feel like I’ve brought together fictional people that are full of flaws but could come together for the right reasons, and fight it out hilariously. I already see possbilities for comedy, drama, fights and romance. And with each character I could imagine new chunks of territory in the world I’m trying to build. This month was a great experience, and ten-fold more sucessful than last year! (where I only finished 3 characters…)
Huzzah!

One time, he saw that the president was in danger and he took it upon himself to assets the situation. The news of his actions spread out like wildfire throughout the intelligence community and has come to CERO’s attention and has recruited him in a matter of days.

2011 Challenger: Kate Santee
Greetings, all! I’m Kate Santee, and I’ve been drawing ever since I could get my grubby little fingers on pencil. It’s been over a year since I graduated from Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design, and since then my work has alternated between caricature art and freelance graphic design.
Character design has always been of great interest to me. At an early age I would draw ridiculous characters inspired by whatever cartoons or video games I was into at the time; as my tastes branched out I became aware of other genres, different art styles, and a greater variety of approaches to conveying characters.
I jumped at the chance to participate in this year’s challenge because I find it to be the perfect opportunity to push myself as an artist. With this challenge, I hope to push as many ideas as I possibly can within the constraints of a single month and put just as many of those ideas on paper. Furthermore, I want to push myself to share my art with other people—partly for the exposure, partly for the criticism. I’m looking forward to exploring different concepts and figuring out how to convey them effectively.
I have a portfolio of my graphic design and caricature work here, and you can find some of my personal art and sketches on my blog.
Good luck to everyone involved! I’m excited to work on this challenge and see all the characters that come out of it.
A Challenger Approaches!
Just a guy from Australia.
Got shown this site and decided it’d be fun 😀
I’m not trying to draw the Mona Lisa, though my proudest piece is this Ramona Flowers (do not expect any of my work to be any where near as good as I think this is)
<3
Anyway that's about it. Yay!
2011 Challenger: Rigeaud Elizee
Hi I’m currently a student at the Art Institute of Tampa. I was encouraged to try the thirty day challenge, so hear I am.
2011 Challenger: Rory Dan
Hey there! My name is Rory and I am a 19 year old inspiring animator/cartoonist.
I heard about this challenge through tumblr so I decided “Hey, why not, you sure probably aren’t going to NaNoWriMo again seeing as how terrible you were at it last year!”
My goal is to come up with some characters for a comic I’ve been working on and also just practice working on character designs and concepts in general!
Hopefully I’ll have plenty of fun doing this!

2011 Challenger: Sydney Wills
Sprinting onto the starting line, here I am! I’m a freshman in college with a major in Illustration. I unfortunately haven’t had much time to draw since starting my classes, which is why I find this challenge to be a great opportunity! Character creation is my favorite part of any art that I do, which is why I’m fascinated with character design and animation. I’m confident in a bright future for my art, I just kind of need to…. jump-start it again.
For me, my adoration for art started with Saturday morning cartoons- namely The Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Roger Rabbit, Pokemon, and the Power Puff Girls! I then moved on to anime and the like and now I’m slowly moving on from that. I don’t expect to draw anything really spectacular here, I just want to revive my skills and admire other’s work. Looking forward to a great turnout!
2011 Challenger: Austen Zaleski
Howdy from Texas,
My name is Austen Zaleski. I’ll be taking part in this years 30 character challenge with all 788 of you(wow..!). I participated last year but unfortunately only made it to the 11 mark. You can view what I managed to do here –> http://www.30characters.com/author/austenfm/ . This was a great challenge and while I didnt finish it last year, it really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I expect to gain much more by actually completing it this time around.
There’s a lot of talent in this year, so I’m eager to see what everyone creates. Best of luck everyone, let’s make it one to remember!
2011 Challenger: Katrina Robertson
Oh, I’m getting all lost and confused already.
My name is Katrina but I prefer to be called Lime on the internet please/thank you. It is weird for me otherwise.  I am a freshman in a community college. I hope to transfer to an art college in a few years so I can take up animation.
I look forward to trying this out even though it is super intimidating. Most of my recent art is kept on my computer but I post some things on my tumblr every once in a while. I’ve been avoiding Deviant art all together lately but I will link it anyway. I wish everyone luck with this.

2011 Challenger: David B Cooper!
I’m David B Cooper, an illustrator and cartoonist working in Glasgow. I have an art-blog, where I’ll also be posting characters, and my twice weekly updating webcomic, Perpendicular Universe.
Really looking forward to diving into this, might try a variety of styles and approaches. Wish me luck, and follow along on Twitter! Looking forward to what everyone else comes up with.
2011 Challenger: Timmy Wood
I am a comedian and I am going to give this thirty characters thing a shot. Since my drawing skills are limited I will be writing the characters. Also since I spend a lot of time watching old sitcoms there is a chance that six of these characters might just be rip offs of the family from Mr. Belvedere, just the family though!
You can follow me on twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/TimmyWood
2011 Challenger: Suenghee Brown
Hello! My name is Suenghee Brown, but Sue is fine. I’m doing this as an art practice project. Usually, I can’t keep up with challenges as I lose interest, but this will keep me in check! Though I’ve been drawing since I was very small, just within the past year or so I’ve decided to take art seriously and continue on in the subject—hopefully to one day work as a professional artist. I use both traditional and digital media, and I hope this helps sharpen my skills. I am very much looking forward to working on this with all of you!
2011 Challenger: Robert Karson
Hi there everyone! I found a link to the 30 Character Challenge on a website I frequent and thought I’d check it out. I’m something of a part time writer and I think this is just the thing to force me into getting new ideas flowing and help me start with my writing again. I don’t have an overarching theme I’m just going to toss out some characters I’ve been working on for awhile as well as hopefully making some new ones. I expect I’ll have all kinds of characters from everyday fiction, to superheroes, to Sci-Fi  stuff. We’ll see how it turns out and I hope it is a lot of fun.
