Hello all! I'm David B Cooper, an illustrator and cartoonist living in Glasgow. I have a busy November ahead, so the best thing to do is to add this challenge to it!
Check out my work at http://davidbcooper.com and http://pucomic.com
Happy charactering!
23 – Krakkor the Demon
He returns from the Hell dimension, yearning for a feast of fresh souls…
Today’s character was done entirely on a touchpad in MSPaint, turned out better than I thought it would!
14 – Trixie
Silly rabbit, Trixie isn’t for kids! This one was inked entirely witha chopstick, which is always fun.
13 – Kaleb, Mighty Wolven Warrior
Kaleb, Mighty Wolven Warrior
Playing with some colouring techniques. Still a ways to go, but it’s going well!
12 – Mister Mystero
Galloping through space and time, it’s the chronic, cosmic adventurer, the amazing Mister Mystero!
11 – Sonny ‘Payday’ Malone
Watch out, here comes the Payday!
Been using the same pen for most of these, might try some alternate inking techniques for the next few if possible…
09 – ZX-17A
“ZX-17Aâ€
A simple exercise in minimalist approach to creation. Does this get across some simple facts about the character without going into detail?
Also: my second robot in ten days. I should have predicted this.
07 – Pepper Hawkes
“Pepper Hawkesâ€
“Come on Benson, we’ve got tantrums to throw.â€
The 30 Characters Challenge rages on. Quite please with how it’s going so far!
06 – Slagagathor
“Slagagathorâ€
Attack: 150
Defense: 200
Special Abilities: Nagging, Advanced Nagging
05 – El Ducko!
El Ducko, Heavyweight Champion!
“My mighty top rope splash will destroy those looking for a challenge!â€
04 – Vapor
The incredible Misty Malone AKA Vapor! Not too pleased with this image, but I like the idea, it’s something I may go back to.
03 – Baron von Snaapz
I actually drew this yesterday, but didn’t get chance to post it until now – say hello to the Baron!
01 – Rex Morrison
“Rex Morrisonâ€
Rex’s hand shook as entered the warehouse. How many goons would be in there this time? A dozen? Even though he’d been through this countless times before, the cigarette never calmed his nerves, and the hazy smoke only gave away his position. He’d considered calling for backup, but if the commissioner found out he was here, he’d lose his badge. Again.
“Goddamnit,†thought Rex. “When did my life turn into such a cliché?â€
I thought it might be a good idea to go with something familiar to ease myself into this, so a here’s a little light noir* for now. A little pressed for time today, but looking forward to the other 29…!
* – yes, I realise ‘light noir’ is probably an oxymoron.
2011 Challenger: David B Cooper!
I’m David B Cooper, an illustrator and cartoonist working in Glasgow. I have an art-blog, where I’ll also be posting characters, and my twice weekly updating webcomic, Perpendicular Universe.
Really looking forward to diving into this, might try a variety of styles and approaches. Wish me luck, and follow along on Twitter! Looking forward to what everyone else comes up with.
