#13 – Idol (Alyson Kerr)
19-year-old Alyson is a acolyte of the age of reality television. Self-absorbed, epitomizing empty narcissism and monstrously self-absorbed, Alyson is determined to do whatever it takes to make herself the single most famous superhero on the planet. She vamps, she whines, she positions herself as a role model for children to look up to, decrying any criticism of her style and life as “haters†intent on “bullying†her and her fans. It’s hard to tell how much of Alyson’s persona is a knowing creation, and how much is genuine self-delusion.
Alyson carries herself like a nymphet, and dresses to match. Much of her persona can be described as “provocativeâ€. She sees everything in life as drama, or an event with the potential for it. She is always “onâ€, alternating between needlessly insulting others to taking on the role of a faux-humanitarian interested in bettering the lives of all.
Whereas established heroes already have the fame, Alyson still isn’t any better than a C (or really, D-list) hero and celebrity, but her drive and desire to reach that rarefied air is undeniable. Every time she does her supposed “job†is a chance to be seen doing it, to tweet it, to Instagram it. Fame is life for her, and the pursuit of it is never-ending.
Alyson’s own abilities are pretty unremarkable on the grand scale of heroes. She is capable of drawing energy from a variety of sources, and channeling into another tool or into energy blasts, but her potential upside has never seemed quite high. As such, Alyson has generally shied away from the day-to-day grind of being a hero, having become a fixture in the reality-TV side of the business.
#12 Shirley Infinity
Shirley Infinity is a girl that looks so much younger than she really is. Reason? Maybe because of her soul, young and cute.
#12 Poison monkey
Still kept feeling like the face or ears need something (fluff in ears?) but anyway This little creature is actually a marsupial and not a monkey but the name stuck for me. It developed a barb on it’s tail that it uses to stun (not kill) other creatures that live high up in the treetops alongside it. It is a night creature and the sting is painless. It wraps its tail around them to keep them from dropping out of the trees. It is of course carnivorous.
#11 Allen Gratiss the Graffiti Artist
A graffiti artist that creates disturbing art! Murderer?? Nawwww… but why is his shade of red so… bloody red?? o_o
#12 – King Lonesome
Aside from playin blues that would break the heart of the devil himself, and preaching a mighty fine, if not quite theologically proper, sermon from time to time, he’s a rambling hoodoo man of sorts, with a habit of hunting down “the things that cause them cries of woe, them unseen things that just shouldn’t be so”.
But he rebuffs anyone’s attempt to deter him from this path, or who would make him a professional and tie him to the treasures of this world. “Don’t you worry ’bout ol’ King Lonesome. I’m bound to wander these four corners of the earth ’til I meet that Man of Sorrows, and either I strikes him or he strikes me.”
Til then, he’s got his guitar, The Psalmist, and his song, “Justine”, in which is encoded the essence of his wife and true love, a former voodoo queen of New Orleans. The Psalmist was taken apart and rebuilt during a ritual that involved lining it with the pages of the bible, specifically Ephesians 6:10-18 dealing with the armor of God, and of course, a full complement of Psalms. There’s only one known recording of King Lonesome singing “Justine” — sold only at B.T. Dubs’ Incidentals and Curiousities– but once you hear Lonesome sing her to life, she’ll be in your heart forever.
Day 11: Loach
Michael Loach’s family is pretty well off. Not rich, but doing better than most of the families in our hood. He’s pals with Moochie (day 9) and P.W. (whom we haven’t met yet). The three boys are friends out of necessity as much as anything else. The jocks won’t talk to them and the thugs want to beat them up, so their strength is in numbers. In this case the number is three. Here’s a shot of Loach enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, getting greasy food from the chicken joint on the corner.
Day 13 – Mithril Golem
It was just a set of mithril armor before a powerful sorcerer performed the ritual and gave it sentience. Now it’s a golem – a creature that serves it’s master till the utter destruction.
Day 13 | Foursquare
2012 – DAY 13
All characters are created by my 5 year-old son, The Junior Partner.  He has either drawn these characters on his own and I have recreated them here, or he has sat at my elbow dictating design and conceptual ideas like a creative, but frenetic, taskmaster.
FOURSQUARE
After hearing about the playground game “four square” the Junior Partner got the idea that it should be played by guys with four arms and then as his imagination will often to, he started talking about the game of four square but with swords and four armed guys.  Soon the concept of the game disappeared and the idea of a four armed superhero with guns and knives stuck.  He dictated certain aspects (like the vest) but vetoed other idea…such as the use of squares anywhere in the motif.
So there’s not much really beyond the fact that this guy has four arms and bunch of weapons.
