#4 Arthor Penn.
Arthor was a scrawny boy of ten, with dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes, he looked no different from any other ten year old, but Arthor was mature for a boy of ten. He had had to grow up fast after his father had passed away. He had loved his father more than he would ever be able to show.
Arthor remembered the nights when his dad would come and tell him all the wonderful stories he had been writing for his latest book. The tales of beasts and brave men, of the battles they fought over magical objects and beautiful princesses, these stories had always filled his mind and heart with such wonder.
Now that his dad was gone nothing seemed quite as bright or brilliant as it once had.
Arthor loved to spend time just sitting in his dads study now, sitting crossed legged in the huge leather chair his dad had spent so many hours in. Arthor would let the chair surround him and protect him, as he looked at the rows of old books that lined the walls. It was the one place Arthor felt close to his father. All the stories flooded back to him here.
It was on one of these days on a cold and rainy November when young Arthor Penn found his fathers favorite writing pen. It was a beautiful fountain pen, it looked black from far away but up close had the look of dark purple marble to it. The nib of the pen was a beautiful burnt copper tone that had warmth to it like an open fire on a dark night. From the nib a faint gold pattern spiraled around the pen to its top like a serpent coiling around a branch. As Arthor studied the pen it seemed to glow and draw him in, he placed the lid back over the nib, as it clicked shut the room filled with light.
His eyes opened slowly and he was no longer in his fathers study, nor was he alone. Arthor was now in a cave face to face with a purple dragon.
#03 & #04 – Morry and STX-04
Counter-worker and sales associate for the underground hack shop “Stygiaâ€. Basically, if you see a trainer using illegal modifications (ie, basically everyone), they probably got it here. While in school, Morry was heavily into slime hunting, but never really amounted to much. That isn’t a knock on his skill as a trainer; hunting is intensely competitive. But after he left school, Morry found that hunting was the only real interest he had, and he wasn’t qualified to make a living at it. He became a counter tender at Stygia mainly as a way to stay in the game while still making enough money to live. It’s given Morry a kind of hard-knock attitude towards life, but he’s a kind person at heart, and has found a genuine passion for helping kids make their partners the best they can be.
The monster a person builds says a lot about how they fight, and Morry’s partner, STX-04, is a master of misdirection. Looking at its huge, bulky body, you might be forgiven for not noticing that STX-04’s core and sense organs are actually in its hands. STX-04 started off as a standard assistance core that lended a hand at Stygia, but Morry’s constant tending and tweaking eventually frustrated Stygia’s owner to the point where he gave the robot to Morry just to get it out of the shop.
The keywords I used for designing these two were Modern Art, Bulky, Hovering, Ghostly, Multiple Heads, and, perhaps best of all, Unexpected Hands. I hope to see that last one again. 😀

Day 4: Hel, Avatar of Death
Story: A walking plague on humanity, Hel, The Avatar of Death.
The third of the four Sects from the Cult of Ragnarok, The Hel Sect believe that the world will end by a powerful plague that wipes out all life, giving those that survive a new world to rebuild. With that ideaology, The Hel Sect dedicate themselves to unleashing various diseases amongst populated areas or creating their own biological weapon cocktails. Their Avatar, Hel, is capable of making an individual sick or die with just a touch, called “Hel’s Blessing.” She oversees any biological outbreak operation and was responsible for the viral scare after making a raid at the CDC (The Center for Disease Control) on a day called “Black Tuesday” due to the deaths of over 500 people and 10,00 infected with diseases thought to be long extinct. Her withering touch is due to possessing fragments of the Philosopher’s Stone; which makes her and the Hel Sect a target of the Alchemist and the Dee Agents.
Abilities: Hel’s gloves contain shards of the Philosopher’s Stone. With the stones, Hel can manipulate the biological and genetic compounds within the air to generate and cultivate diseases. Making such a virulant compound allows her to infect and poison people with a touch ,hence the term “Hel’s Blessing.” Her touch is also capable of manipulating the biological composition within an individual’s body to grow tumors, sores, and various other diseases. She is also capable of affecting inorganic materials as she merely withers any object she desires.
The Hel Avatar is wearing an airtight suit that acts as both armor and containment to prevent her from getting infected with her own compounds and many believe that the stones may enable to have her immune to her diseases by synthesizing the antibodies for the various diseases. The lengthy ponytail is actually an accessory and not necessarily her natural hair as it has shown on a few incidents of coming off during pursuit.
As for fighting style, she is fairly limited as her touch alone kills any who comes near her, as well as dispersing any airborne pathogens. When in battle, she usually flees after unleashing a biological attack and most heroes and Agents rely on ranged attacks to defeat her.
Inception: One of my more recent ideas. I went with the half/half design based on Hel being a normal woman on one side, and a withered corpse on the other. With the helmet design, pauldrons and codpiece from Jaguara of Wolf’s Rain. Her ponytail is a last minute addition as I felt it needed something flowing off of her that wasn’t a gown or cape.
#4 My Crowd
Yeah, there are ties between characters, and they’re all being created in bunches. Just letting it happen.
Day 4: Dead Ringer
This tall gentleman moves with hushed steps over grave grass and cold moss. He grins gently as he comes to everyone like an old friend. Even if his plans to visit are years away, everyone hears his distant bells ringing like rain in the distance.
I’m usually not so dark. I guess I’ll say this is my tribute to Neil Gaiman, my favorite author.
#03 Sand Prince
Heir to the late Scorpion King, the late Sand Prince is a rising prodigy and force to be reckoned with in battle. Graceful with the twin blades, the prince can also harness the magic of his blood to embrace the form of a white scorpion for unrivaled prowess in combat.
#02 Feline fatale
Witty, unpredictable, and enigmatic, the Feline Fatale moves unseen shrouded by shadows. Unbound by any allegiance, she is a thief, assassin, and seductress that wreaks havoc on those whom cross her path of beliefs.
#03 – Sir Egglant
For the past couple of years, I’ve thought of the 30 Characters Challenge as a challenge to come up with 30 NEW characters and share them. But the more I’ve thought about it this year, I really want to get back to cartooning again, so I figured I’d introduce some of the long-time repertory characters that I’ll be using in my comic (should I get it going again). First up, is this guy.
Sir Eggplant
Sir Eggplant began life as a doodle in my 12th grade English notebook in 1988. A few years later, I was going through old notebooks and sketchbooks when I ran across him again. He sort of spoke to me, and shortly thereafter, I would discover a cartoon storyboard contest. So I created a story around Sir Eggplant, and drew up a storyboard for the contest. Nothing ever came of it, but from that moment on, Sir Eggplant became the signature character among the hodgepodge of characters floating around uselessly in my head.
The initial story was an attempt to explain how an eggplant became a sentient being, with elements of time travel and astral mysticism, but eventually, I decided to just leave his origin a mystery. But one other good thing came from the original storyboard, and that was Sir Eggplant’s companion/sidekick, who will be introduced as the #4 character in this year’s challenge.
#04 Jellyfish
Its Sunday! Woke up super grumpy and ended up with this.
Present for you. Jellyfish baby.
#03-Mini me
To be honest, I was really strained for ideas when I got to day 3 post…This is Mini-me-when I was a kid, I use to believe my toys were alive-I had 1 favorite clown bear, Bobo, and I would take him everywhere with me. I eventually felt guilty for the lack of attention on the other toys so I would make sure to take them around with me also. One particular clown was especially scary to me, but I made sure to give him extra attention because I imagined him to be the most neglected of them all.
Elemon
Day 4. Had a busy day today so only one of the evolutions. will upload more tomorrow. O ya sumi
Ms. Mahvelous
Alias: Ms. Mahvelous
Name: Tyrone Ferguson
Powers: Super Strength, Flight, Invulnerable, Magical Transformation
Tyrone Ferguson grew up in the Bronx and was regularly bullied in school for being effeminate, but he quickly found a circle of queer friends. They would hang out in the West Village on the Christopher street pier and have a lot of fun. However one day on his walk home from an evening out Tyrone was followed by a group of bullies from school who attempted to beat him up. However, just as he was about to get beaten, Tyrone remembered something his grandmother told him… that should he ever be in danger to say the word “Shazam!”. And so Tyrone uttered the magic words and with a flash of lightning was transformed into the fabulous and fierce drag queen super hero Ms. Mahvelous.
Day Two: Trifole
Tree-born and ground-bred, he uproots and wanders out, now he walks on concrete streets and avoids dog shite turned white — a far cry from his prior life as a nesting place for birds and pissing place for dogs.

#04 – M-Anon
An anonymous male for a surreal one-shot that I wrote a bit in inspired by a song. The song is by David Hodges but I won’t reveal the name just yet coz it might contain a spoiler, haha! The characters won’t be named so I went with M-Anon and the next character (Day5) will be F-Anon for the anonymous female.
#4 – Stefon Hunt
Stefon is loud, tattooed, brash, and will make very clear that he’s not here to be whatever you think a superhero is supposed to be. The notion is largely braggadocio, but he can back it up with his abilities. Stefon is damn good at this, he knows it, and he knows you know it, whether or not you want to admit it.
Born and raised in the South Bronx, Stefon has kept himself at arms length from many heroes by being equally concerned with being respected and known on the streets of his home as he is in the rarefied air of superheroes. He carries himself with a defiance of traditional authority. He has repeatedly stated that he is uninterested in being anyone’s hero. To him, being a superhero is a business, and he’s interested in being the best in his industry. He doesn’t want to be the “marketable†person like other heroes. He doesn’t care if people like him, but he will make them respect him. He’s going to do it his way, his style, when he wants to, looking the way he wants to look, acting the way he wants to act, and if you don’t like it, you can get lost.
For all his macho posturing and “keep it to the streets†attitude Stefon is not a bad person. He sees a great deal more grey-scale in life than many do. He utterly distrusts law enforcement and their motives, along with much of the superhero community. He has done many charitable works for at-risk children in communities across the city, from using his personal fortune to fund literacy classes to ensuring many schools can fund extra-curricular activities for students from sports to music and the arts. Due to his intelligent manipulation of his image, Stefon has a dedicated fanbase, including a coterie of friends he can call on to visit violence on people at appropriate times and places.
Stefon is often controversial, from his repeated criticism U.S. drug policy and refusal to prosecute what he calls “a war of racial aggression†to pointed critiques of various heroes on his well-trafficked blog. He has opinions, many of them political, not all of them wholly well-informed, but he’s still going to let you know about them.
Stefon’s abilties manifested in High School, and he immediately dropped out to pursue his new “careerâ€. He is gifted with a deep kinship with birds. He is capable of sprouting wings, although he is a much more adept glider than a flyer (he can only sustain a short burst of flying energy). He can also turn his hands into talons and has a “familiar” of sorts, a Raven he calls “Boogie” who is his eyes and ears around the city.
Stefon is as often at odds with the superhero community as he is part of it, and he prefers it that way. He feels like getting to chummy with other heroes would rob him of his edge, take away from that which makes him to marketable to some. Stefon has been accused of “selling out†by some, he has several sponsorships to his name, including his own line of energy drink and is working on creating a line of fashion in his image.
An absolute asshole to those just meeting him, but Stefon values loyalty above all else in those he knows, and those that are loyal to him, he will go to the ends of the earth for. Anyone who crosses him, he will commit to deeply, painfully hurting, legally or illegally.
Stefon seems a slight figure, standing just under six feet tall, but his lithe frame is quick and agile. He is instantly recognizable from the shock of shoulder length dreadlocks he sports, which he adorns with charms and trinkets. He delights in letting opponents believe they have the upper hand in fights before turning the tables on them in a moment.
#01 – Stop Thief
Going to be using this month to practice using illustrator more (colour in photoshop). Don’t know what this little guys is holding, but he stole it!
#03 Old Man Clock Killer
A murderous animatronic theme park robot meant to mimic Old Town’s beloved founder. Somehow the old man’s vengeful soul has been animating it, instead, intending to solve the mystery of who had him murdered in his sleep 150 years ago.
Rather than continue to perform the founder’s famous speeches as programmed, the robot instead repeats the old man’s dying words over and over again: “Time is after us all. It always catches us. It’s so… scary. Time, time is the predator.”
#02 – Grglftz
I haven’t yet decided if grglftz is an astronaut/explorer of his species, or just an idiot who likes pretending. Perhaps it’s both.
#3 Kaetung Sun
Kaetung Sun has lived with his younger sister ever since their parents passed away. He is known to be one of many poor orphaned children in central Xiu Janyang and is mostly overlooked. As Sun only has fruits to sell during the harvest, he only makes crop money once a year. Year round, he does carpentry work, which helps somewhat.
3 – In’Irdac the Weak
Never before has a Draegoloth abomination been ‘cured’ of it’s nature. A terrifying half- fiend brought about by the darkest and most favoured of Lloth’s matron mothers, in congress with an embodiment of deception and terror, a demon Glabrezu summoned in a blood sacrifice. When born, the abominations serve their mothers, or their own whims, and are seen as gifts- cold, calculating and murderous gifts- to the Houses of the mothers.
Rysaloth In’Irdac was a Draegoloth given to becoming a posessor of mortals- a being that could move from body to body, hiding it’s hideous form in the aether of the ghostly wrealm as he pulled the strings of the unwary. But in the act of becoming such a fiend, something went horribly wrong. The demonic half of Rysaloth went on to become a full demon, unfettered by Drow pettiness and small- mindedness… or a soul.
In’Irdac was left on the mortal plane, a Drow-Â weakened, terrified, with none of his previous might. His desperation to rejoin with his other half is consuming him…
