#1 – Adrian

| November 2, 2012 | 1 Comment

Adrian has been around for a long time now, way back when I was planning my senior thesis in art skool (wow that was more than a year ago omg). A bit about Adrian: She used to sing in the youth choir at church but got really lazy and ambivalent once high school rolled around. She and a neighbour have been trying to think of a name for their guitar-and-handclap band for years.

Elf Challenge #1 – Frosby by Jon Morris

| November 2, 2012 | 3 Comments

This year, I’m doing characters from ELF CHALLENGE, a fictional comic I made up as a gag about a year ago. This is Frosby, squire to the champion of the Big Green Forest. He has to wear that glove to handle his master’s heavy, enchanted weapons …

#2 Clint “Iron Knuckles” Lynch

| November 2, 2012 | 5 Comments

It’s just another day in the post-apocalyptic wasteland for Clint Lynch. After dispatching a herd of radioactive zombies with a chemical fire, he fended off a small group of cannibals with his trusty Smith & Wesson M29. Now, down to his last bullet, Clint is playing cat-and-mouse with a lobster-clawed mutant.

Seen by some as an embarrassment to his party but the back bencher’s love it as it really livens up the day.

#02 Monkey Bin

I have no idea what is it trying to do… A monkey trying to navigate an Ipod touch on top of an rubbish bin?

Day 2 – Mano Dura

| November 2, 2012 | 2 Comments

Mano Dura is the closest thing to a zombie cowboy you’ve heard of!
He just doesn’t die! Mano Dura got his nickname for never getting a shot wrong, with such a steady hand.
Born from criminal parents, he became one himself, and fighting officers gave him his so feared aim.
One day however, upon falling on a trap, he’s surorunded by the local police, except instead of executing him on sight, his punishment was to get rid of a mohawk tribe that was giving the village headaches. Mano Dura overdid it – singlehandedly killed every single person from the tribe, women and children alike, but that wouldn’t go unpaid for – once again instead of being wished dead, on their least breath the tribe’s leader cursed him to live eternally with his sins – his soul to carry his bones eternally.

Some say he can be spotted even nowadays, riding his long time friend’s carcass, the Red Hot Star.

#01 and #02 – Ceta and Chally

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Not a particularly competitive trainer, Ceta’s success at slime hunting comes mostly from the fact that she specializes in an area nobody else reallly wants to try – underwater. She and her partner have found large colonies in the bay where she hunts. Born and raised near the sea, she’s far more interested in swimming than fighting, and hopes to use the scholarship money she’ll get to become a marine biologist.

Ceta built Chally to support her underwater, using its exposed computer core to provide light and improve enemy absorption underwater. Chally’s abilities are highly tailored to fighting in water, which makes it rather vulnerable out of its native element, and contributes to Ceta’s unwillingness to confront other trainers.

The keywords for Chally’s design were Animal, Tall, Plesiosaur Fins, Collar, Plant parts, and Lantern. I decided to throw out the “plant parts” keyword, because I couldn’t find a way to incorporate it without having the design go totally into left field. I’m pretty happy with Ceta and Chally’s names, though. Both of these characters were named for ocean deities; Ceta was named after Ceto, Greek goddess of sea monsters; Chally, though, was named for Chalchiuhtlicue, the Aztec goddess of waterfalls. Pruning it back to a name typical to sea monsters like Nessie or Champ was pretty simple. ^^

#2 Fawn Berry

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Brave, swift, kind and whole heartily endearing. Fawn is one of the youngest Elves ever to make it into Tracker training. Her passion to learn and do her very best made sure she made the grade at age thirteen, three years younger than most recruits. Now under the watchful eye of her Sage, Track master Arc she learns the ways of the forest and all the things that dwell within.

Taking on the green cloak of the tracker recruit Fawn spends her days learning to hunt with both bow and spear. She is trained to read tracks and recognize the markings of all manner of different beast and creatures.

If her training continues to go so well she will soon get to leave on her pilgrimage to the forest heart, which if she returns from will be the final sign she is ready to join the Tracker Masters, and become a guardian of the forest.

#2 Ron

Though most humans are born without a cranium in this post apocalyptic world, Ron’s mutation goes a step further. His eyes are located on the palms of his hands. This requires his life support suit to have special encapsulating domes to maintain and protect his vision.

Jorgumandr,Avatar of the World Serpent

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Story: The Avatar of the World Serpent belongs to an apocalyptic cult called Ragnarok, who believe that to save the world, you must destroy the old world in order to bring about a new world. Jorgumandr belongs to the Sect that believes of destruction by nature through poison or hurricanes. This sect of Ragnarok is responsible for numerous gas attacks around the world, but few have ever survived an encounter with their Champion, The Jorgumandr Avatar. This Avatar has either attempted or succeeded in poisoning water supplies, destruction of dams or levees, and releasing airborne pathogens in the name of Ragnarok. The Alchemist and other Dee Agents have done battle with the “World Serpent” Avatar and other champions from the Ragnarok cult, as their champions each possess a Philosopher Stone fragment that the Agents seek to reclaim for the Order.

Abilities: Using the Philosopher Stone: The Avatar is capable of Blood Alchemy, using one’s own blood to transmute or manipulate the properties within the blood. This can range into blood whips, projectiles, acids, shrapnel shards, and bloody blades. The stone helps accelerate blood regeneration to counter the effects of anemia and increase the stamina of its wielder. The Avatar demonstrates a knowledge of mechanics, particularly in bombs, poisons, and in electrical structures, to better suit their ends and beliefs. The Serpent Avatar is capable of close quarters combat, but is truly proficient at mid-to-long ranged combat , probably to better ensure his/her escape.

Inception: I actually based this character from an old monster drawing I did in high school and it started off as a fairly generic aquatic monster, until I refined it more in College, particularly the head. I developed the idea of blood transfusions and transmutations thanks to Fullmetal Alchemist, after hearing the numerous components found in blood and to explain away the character’s inability to experience fatigue from blood loss. I may also modify its abilities further after witnessing the horrifying ability known as Blood Bending from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, as such a trait may work with one who can manipulate his/her own blood.

#2 Vitiligo

It’s not really a big deal; it doesn’t affect his day to day life. Sometimes, rarely though, he’ll get a funny look or two. It was worse in grade school. Kids are young and inexperienced, they don’t see these things often, they’re scared of what they don’t understand, and so they ridicule for reassurance in themselves. But that was a long time ago.

#1 Memory Loss

| November 2, 2012 | 1 Comment

Although the short-term memory loss isn’t severe, it’s become enough that he has trouble living alone. He can remember what he ate for dinner and that class starts at three, but there are things that are troubling. Most frequently he awakes, sits up in bed, and wanders down the hall in confusion before he remembers, ‘this is my apartment; this is where I live’.
