#17 Utakei – Weapon

| November 18, 2011 | 0 Comments

Every day the stirring in my guts becomes a little big stronger, just a little big angrier. I don’t think that it will be much longer before it’s ready.

No one knows who created the idea. It was so many generations ago, before the First Rebellion. When the rebellion was crushed, the Masters destroyed all records and technology they could find, hoping to prevent another uprising. It also destroyed so much of our history, our culture. All we know about the beginning, the world before the Masters, is the stories and legends that parents have passed down to their children, telling of the peaceful plains and wide open skies, of freedom and choice.

After the Second Rebellion, The Masters watched us carefully. They placed cameras and spies everywhere, searching for any signs of unrest. Where unrest was found, it was put down with finality. Their soldiers and bombs destroyed entire villages for a few unwise words.

They took away our technology, only letting us use it while we labored in their factories and fields. We were left to scrabble what we could out of the harsh dry land with the rusty metal tools that they felt safe to leave with us.

None of their attempts to weaken us matter. The seeds of our salvation had already been planted years ago, before even the First Rebellion. The Masters have long questioned our wisdom. How we attack stronger forces every time, all but guaranteeing our defeat. They say it shows that we are not intelligent, that we still require their stewardship and that it is only right we serve them in repayment.

The Rebellions were not uprisings, but distractions, to cement the Masters confidence and give us time, time to grow. The genes were laid in the children of a long forgotten generation, a small change to an organ evolution had long made obsolete.

Now we are all carriers, every one of us feels the throbbing gland in our guts. The generations of mutations have changed the bacteria, making it strong, vicious and hungry. Hungry for the Masters.

The Masters watch us as we serve them, from their lowest factories to their highest towers, from the most distant colony to the Imperial Homeplanet. And they do not see the danger of us.

Some of us are afraid of what will happen, but the decision was made long before. The days pass, and the stirring grows.

18 – Koku of the Ninja Bros. by Beausephus+Son

| November 18, 2011 | 0 Comments

CHARACTER NAME:  Koku, of the Ninja Brothers

DATE OF CREATION: Summer 2011

CONCEPT:  ”Koku si the big brother ninja and he looks after his family and protects them from the evil ninjas.  he’s really good with his swords and can do really scary ninja tricks.”

_________________________________

So when the mood strikes my son (and that is quite often) and he wants to make up “superguys”, “superdudes”, “supermans”… I pull out a bunch of templates I made for him and he picks out everything from the style of boots to the color scheme of the various costume options presented before him.  I then draw quick sketch, and he edits, adds, etc…  I then draw up the character and he hangs them in his room…if they meet his ultimate judgement.  Then I make him come up with a story for each character.

THE NINJA BROTHERS is a story that my son started to tell me one night before bedtime.  Perhaps in an attempt to put off the impending lights-out, the story of three long-lost brothers became almost epic in its proportions spreading out over a few evenings and interweaving all of his interests  – superheroes, spies, ninjas, and magic.

KOKU is the eldest of the three NINJA BROTHERS.  He takes his role as the self-perceived head of the family very seriously.  “He’s like Cyclops [of the X-Men] who is always mad at people because he is the boss.”  Koku is very focused- to the point of disconnect with reality and at times, the family and townspeople he has sworn to protect.  When he and his younger brother BIRQ began to train in the mystic arts of the ninja, he never doubted for a second that they would be able to rescue STINGUT, their baby brother, from the clutches of the evil ninja master who controlled almost every aspect of the lives of the people in the town they lived in.  Koku is loyal and determined.  There is no doubt that he is a master swordsman and an imposing physical and mystic threat for one so young, but his driving ambition often blinds him to the simple pleasures of a life he is so determined to protect that he almost doesn’t realize what he is fighting for.

Koku, like Birq and Stingut, is highly skilled at hand to hand combat and mystic ninja magic.  He is renowned as a swordsman and his homemade weapons are rumored to be enchanted.  Like all of his brothers, he carries a magic short sword in addition to the rest of his well-honed bladed arsenal.

Thanks for checking out our stuff, my son is very excited to share his ideas with everyone here.

#17 – Ravenfang the Desolate

| November 18, 2011 | 0 Comments

This gryphon-like demon lord has seen millions of years fly before him, and he will likely see millions more. Rather than remain in the public eye, the reclusive Ravenfang prefers to keep to his shadowy temple, a dark structure that hides amongst a dark, rainless storm, floating around the demon realm.

Ravenfang radiates despair from his body, so that those with weak wills who get too close to him find themselves stricken with negative emotions. It’s said that those who touch him lose all their willpower, and that he can crush their souls in half with his talons. Though many rumors surround him, not many who venture to his keep really die or even disappear… rather, they seem to vanish for a while, only to reemerge later, confused and depressed.

Ravenfang, in all honesty, probably has the power to do all the things that the rumors say he does. But Ravenfang is so old and weathered in spirit that he just prefers to be left alone to watch the world in silence.

#17 Gunsmoke Jones

Gunsmoke Jones

Gunsmoke Jones

“Any simpleton can make a gun out of metal, but a true and living gunslinger can carve a firearm from anything that is at hand. Furthermore, one’s wits and one’s will are the only true substances one can always guarantee will be at hand. And what wonderful weapons we shall make from them, such songs of fire as to make the gods think second thoughts.”

– Canto XVII, Liber Magnum

Gunsmoke Jones was named such since he was born during a bandit attack. “He come into this world with gunsmoke,” said his father. “Mos’ likely gon’ leave it that way too.” A quiet and curious country boy, while wandering around the Amygdalene Plains he discovers an old, heavy book – The Liber Magnum. He had never heard of the Liber Magnum –literally the “great book” but known to those who keep track of such things as “The Book of The Greater Weapon” — yet he finds that he has an aptitude for its instructions. By mastering its disciplines and creating a weapon with nothing put pure thought, he defeats the bandits who’ve preyed on his town. His folks, and the other villagers, are thankful but also a little scared and worried. They consult the town’s rusty old infobot, who tells him to go to The Eternal City, a utopian metropolis (according to the robot’s outdated databanks), and speak to the Bureau of Memetic Transmission. They should have answers. But his family don’t trust the city, and tell him to be careful and come straight back. As he begins his long journey, following the Gilded Highway to the Eternal City he learns more from the book. The book does not only help him to create constructs and make his mind faster than bullets, but it also whispers dark truths about the world that kind of disturb him. He starts to wonder, is this how the wider world truly is, or are the ideas in the book just colonizing his mind for their own purposes? Hopefully the Bureau of Memetic Transmission in the city will be able to take the book back and sort all of this out…

GUNSMOKE JONES WILL RETURN IN “GUNSMOKE JONES AND THE ETERNAL CITY”

Cog is a robot in a world of robots (who built the robots or where the creators went is left unexplained, as is common in these kinds of stories), who has left his job of manual labor in order to become a fiction writer. Hour long days of drudgery give his mind time to wander and contemplate the greater world and convince himself that he is a veritable fountain of stories that need to be told, held back only by the time he needs to put them to (digital) parchment. Upon finally leaving his job, his goal to stop being a Cog in the system (name drop) is halted as he can’t seem to think of anything to write.

Spoiler: Cog is me.

Day 17: The Electric Girl

| November 18, 2011 | 0 Comments

Character #17, “The Electric Girl”. No, this is not something I just whipped up, I’ve held onto this idea for a while and this is how she’s supposed to look.

The Electric Girl was originally the daughter of a scientist. When she went into a coma, the man tried all he could to be able to get through to her. At last, he made this giant machine and hooked her up to it, it turned her brainwaves into electricity. The girl found out her conscience could control the electricity, and with her body knocked out, she could communicate with it. The Electric Girl everyone sees is just for show, an electricity generated image she displays as herself. The girl enjoys to make things out of the electricity, and she can generate anything she can think of into electricity. However, her space is confined to a large glass dome with the electrical receptors hooked up to it, she can’t go anywhere outside it.

#16 Space Tourism

| November 18, 2011 | 2 Comments

A space pirate poses for Eclipse Getaways’ automated souvenir camera after having boarded the ship high above Saturn’s south pole, venting the atmosphere and looting the ship. They will no doubt re-purpose the craft in their fleet or, failing that, send it into the gas giant. Space pirate attacks on commercial spacecraft are rare, but they are always tracking a good number of them, and as soon as one is vulnerable, they strike with speed and cunning. The space pirates mostly operate in “clusters”, small, decentralized groups of spacecraft with complementary purposes. These clusters roam throughout the rings, periodically setting down on the pirates’ many, many lunar bases.

Pirates are a serious thorn in the side of the Saturn Authority. The Jovian Conglomerate has demonstrated a heavy-handed approach to the matter, which appears to have been effective enough ,but Saturn lacks the resources and intent necessary to such drastic measures. Saturn’ perceived inability to deal with it’s problems has earned it a great deal of criticism from the other governments, who have declared that “…the Saturn Authority is demonstrating weakness to the subversive elements at large, and is therefore jeopardizing the entire political order of the solar system!”
