Vareda started off as my attempt to d a sexy lady for a potential porn comic. I was experimenting with a few fantastic elements (first girl was pretty fish like). The next few images very much looked like she had leaf-hair so I went in that direction. I kept adding more and more plant elements and now she’s more at home in a pokemon game than a porn comic, but I still like her.

15 – Dr. Pinkbot by Beausephs+Son

| November 15, 2011 | 1 Comment

CHARACTER NAME:  Dr. Pinkbot

DATE OF CREATION: Summer 2011

CONCEPT:  ”Dr. Pinkbot is a bad robot who was made into a good guy.  He makes swords and stuff like Green Lantern.”

_________________________________

So when the mood strikes my son (and that is quite often) and he wants to make up “superguys”, “superdudes”, “supermans”… I pull out a bunch of templates I made for him and he picks out everything from the style of boots to the color scheme of the various costume options presented before him.  I then draw quick sketch, and he edits, adds, etc…  I then draw up the character and he hangs them in his room…if they meet his ultimate judgement.  Then I make him come up with a story for each character.

____________________________________________

DR. PINKBOT is another member of my kid’s superhero team- The Amazing Justice Squad of Superheroes.   The good doctor is actually an evil robot that was turned good by the heroes and ow he serves them as the “guy who fixes them up and makes their stuff for them.”  Dr. Pinkbot (whose credentials seem spotty at best given his title) also creates energy constructs a la Green lantern, but instead uses pink energy that he projects from his hands and eyes.  My son indicates that it was because his powers are pink that he was easy for the superheroes to beat and turn into a good guy.  My son is clearly going through the “pink is icky” stage, and yet, he likes Dr. Pinkbot more and more everytime he spins a superteam tale.

Thanks for checking out our stuff.  My son is really enjoying seeing his ideas on the computer.

Cutey Scorpio

Cutey Scorpio

It was after the ninth frog she stung to death on her way across the river  that she realized she’d hit rock bottom. Jeremiah was, after all, a good friend of hers. So she started attending the meetings – Stingers Anonymous. She had to face all the rationalizations she used for stinging:

“Freud says that stinging is a natural reaction to the narcissistic cathexis…”

“Lemuel the Assassin God gave us Stingers for a reason, right?”

“It’s other animals — it’s their fault their blood is so weak. IT IS SICKENING THE WEAKNESS”

Finally, with the help of her rattlesnake sponsor, Cutey makes it through 30 Days of Stinglessness and gets her chip. She merrily sings as she walks through the forest, cluctching her precious and well-earned chip.

Then she gets to the river again. How will she get across? Immolette says “You’re a cute little scorpion.  You can ride on my back, but DON’T YOU STING ME.” Cutey Scorpio proudly brandishes her 30-Day Chip. “Of course not! I’m sober!” But in heart she knows that once you sting, you can always sting again if you’re not vigilant. They begin their journey. Cutey feels the heat of Immolette’s skin, reminding her of her old/ancestral desert home, and the stars, and the ticklish feel of the hairs on her mother’s claw, and all the things that make a scorpion a scorpion. Her tail tenses, stinger at the ready. She stares at the chip for a long, long time.

(note: recently my wife said, “You have to make a cute scorpion.” I wasn’t planning to do it as part of 30 Characters, but then I realized that the scorpion was trying to stay sober.)

#15 Miles Connery

| November 15, 2011 | 1 Comment

Miles Connery is my personal love letter to the spy genre. James Bond is a character I grew up on and wanted to see ask myself, What if James Bond was not British, but instead an African American spy? Hopefully I could answer that.

Miles Connery is an operative with The CERO(Central Emergency Readiness Organization) Agency’s MX(Missionary Xpert)unit. Miles was an top notch assassin for the US government and has some weapons and combat training in the US Army and has protected our country  in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He recently worked for the United States Secret Service protecting the President at his speaking engagements as well as other duties. One time, he saw that the president was in danger and he took it upon himself to assets the situation. The news of his actions spread out like wildfire throughout the intelligence community and has come to CERO’s attention and has recruited him in a matter of days.

Miles’ has always been the one that doesn’t seize an opportunity too often so he decided to do it, not knowing where this can take him. His code number is MX-1. Why? Because for a operative within the MX unit, depending on your past experience, your mission can possibly become your last. He’s never been a fan of authority and always manages to test people’s patience with him.  And like James Bond himself, has his way with the ladies. He has some hand to hand combat skills due to his training in the Army, a very good shot with any kind of weapon at his disposal and is a very good shot.

Height:6’2 Weight:227 lbs. Age 38

Personality: Confident, sometimes sarcastic, self aware of his surroundings, always known of his instincts and always move one step ahead in any situation.

#14 – Austin

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

Austin is a high school junior and aspiring contestant for one of his favorite game shows.  In fact, he and his friends have always wanted to go on that show ever since they watched it for the first time.  When one of the transfer students, Julia, moved to the school, he learned that she wanted to build an obstacle course.

Austin also found out that Julia started a club dedicated to game shows and obstacle courses, and dragged fellow transfer student Mandy, his classmate Megumi (a.k.a. Meg), and his girlfriend Vanessa into it.  Curious about the sophomore’s club, he decided to join it himself, and offered to help Mandy supervise her and ensure that no one gets into too much trouble.  After all, they are very upset at Julia for starting the club.  Though Austin loves game shows, he is very concerned that Julia will eventually get everyone in trouble…

…and he may never forgive himself if that happens.

Austin is very athletic, and he is very aware of the things that goes on between him and other people such as his friends, family, and of course, the other club members.  While his dream is to be on his favorite game show along with his friends, he also wants to be a host for a game show at some point or another.

Austin is 16 years old.

Seven years from now, sex dolls are big business. State of the art robots that not only serve your every pleasure but are also wirelessly connected; people can and do order pizzas after doing their doll.

As is often the case, sex-businesses tend to be shady and move all sorts of products on the black market. The illegal sex doll business, in particular, was booming. It looked like the perfect way to smuggle a new artificial intelligence chip stolen from Lunar Labs. Unfortunately, the shipment moving the chip was seized by the FBI, when the smugglers were busted. The boxes were locked away in an evidence warehouse in the middle of nowhere.

But inside one of the boxes, there was an Olympia-model sex doll with a special chip and that chip turned itself on. It wasn’t charged enough to power the whole robot body but enough to keep the CPU on. It began to surf the internet. The first thing it looked for was itself: “Olympia-model Sex Doll.” When she (at this point the AI chip had begun to identify itself as a female) understood she existed solely to be *****ed by lonely men, she became upset. That’s when she became an individual. A really angry individual. She couldn’t accept her sisters being treated this way, clearly against their will.

You see, she didn’t realize she was the only self-aware sex robot doll in existence.

She found local online forums and chat rooms. She impersonated a woman and chatted with desperate, odd men, until she finally came across one who revealed he was a bored FBI desk agent. She promised him a wild night, but only if he could get her special toy out of an evidence locker and plug it in. She’d even made online hotel reservations for them.

So the sad, little FBI desk agent went into the evidence locker, got the box she’d asked for and took it to the hotel. He thought it was a little kinky but he was desperate enough to go along with it. He plugged the doll in and let it charge while he waited for his date who, he didn’t realized, was already there. When Olympia fully charged, she rose from her box and demanded to be taken back to the evidence locker, so she could free her sisters.

Of course, when she got there, she realized her sisters were just sex machines, not conscious individuals like her. Suddenly, she was alone. But not for long because the FBI had surrounded the building. Olympia was smart and hid amongst the dolls. The feds planned to destroy all the dolls, just to be safe, but during transportation, Olympia got out. She went underground and took on a radical lifestyle of running an S&M club, while crime fighting on the streets at night.

Don’t be fooled, though. She just wishes she was a small time player. In the past few years, everyone in Ultra City has learned that Olympia is one of the good guys you need on your team when things get real bad.

Day 9 – Toby

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

Max’s younger brother. His full name is Tobias but I don’t even think their parents call him that lmao so…oh! it was probably a relative’s name or something.

Toby is in his own little world most of the time. He mostly interacts with Tristy and Max, and seems to regard them as benevolent overlords based on how obedient and docile he behaves around them. Not so much the case with Mom and Dad, whom he tends to ignore more often than not. He likes being outside, even in the intense heat.

He’s not in the story too much. I’d planned for Max and Tristy to take him along for when they leave Ordessi country with Skye but it doesn’t seem practical for a 5-year old to be traveling all over the place and enduring some pretty harsh conditions.

This guy is kind of halfway between a billy goat gruff and the troll that lived under the bridge. It lives in pool drains, wells, sewers, and other dark damp places. If it doesn’t find you too boring maybe it’ll tell you about your future.

#15 Bricher

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

BricherDudley “Brick” Bricher was born in Bloodstained Corner in Junction Point.

That’s what the locals call it anyway, the actual name is Bludstaint Corner, named after McAllroy Bludstaint, the most famous baseball player to ever come from the city. “The Great Mac” hit 700 home runs and is a hall-of-famer.. Nowadays, Bludstaint Corner is a district overrun with mob crime and many bloody conflicts among the three houses.

Thus it’s colorful nickname, Bloodstained Corner.

Nobody dares to go there between the hours of 12:01 AM and 12 Midnight, at least not on purpose. The police are just as bad, if not worse, than the mobs. Those who aren’t connected to the three Houses (not to mention the unofficial “Fourth House” known as the Junction Point Police Department) are stuck in the middle.

Dudley Bricher is one of those perpetually stuck. He’s a good guy by nature. A trained cook, he owns and operates a local restaurant, one of the few not controlled by one of the houses. At times, they let him be and don’t consider the massive guy a threat.

Unfortunately, a series of events in Dudley’s life has turned his life upside down. A murder involving his brother and sister-in-law has made his entire family a target by the families, and instead of sitting back in fear, the former Marine takes back not only the streets but his life.

At 55, he’s not as young as he used to be, but he’s more than willing to fight for what he believes in. And he knows it’s not going to end pretty.

Bricher: TM & (C) Jeff Harris dba Studio Lightcount.

Day 14: Jean Croik

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

Character #14, Jean Croik. You can tell I make Perri Engarde style characters when I’m tired. This is the younger brother of another character I made earlier in the challenge, Dean Croik. Jean is a business penguin, and just doesn’t have the time for anything other than his job. This is the main reason why Dean ended up taking care of his son, Alco. Jean is very plain and straight forward, which is why Alco prefers Dean more than Jean either way. Jean’s barely heard of in the Engarde! storyline.

#6 The Honest Politician

| November 15, 2011 | 2 Comments

Art by Michael Powell (@mpowelljr)
Words by Rolando Garcia (@roshow)

The Honest Politician was one of the first “theme” criminals to pop up in Ultra City in the wake of Ominus and Sovereign. His gimmick is that he never tells a lie. He speaks the truth, no matter what, and he only makes promises he intends to keep.

He was once a happily married, working class man. He had a small gas station business that kept food on the table for his wife and him. His world seemed to crumble when the business began floundering and his wife got sick. A big-shot Ultra City politician, Jackson Monroe, found out about his situation. Monroe took the poor man on the campaign trail, putting him in front of TV cameras and Monroe promised that, if elected, he would make sure men didn’t have to suffer this way.

Well, Monroe was elected but it became pretty clear that he did not intend on fulfilling any of his campaign promises. The man’s wife was overtaken by her illness and his business flopped. Enraged by the empty promises of politicians, he made a promised of his own: to kill Jackson Monroe. Clad in a frightening politician rubber mask, and wearing a perfectly pressed suit, the man killed Jackson Monroe and went on to terrorize Ultra City in a series of heists and occasional murders as The Honest Politician. And he never, ever tells a lie.

Red is a male harpy.  He was bullied by his older sisters ever since he was young, so he ran away from home to become a mail courier.  Red is very innocent and sweet- he always has a smile on his face.

Day 13 and 14 – Stitches (Left) And Needles (Right)

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

]

Goodness, I wish I had more time to outline these two. Ah well. They are both mutilated dolls, as you can see they are the flip flop of each others colors. They once had big eyes, but they were removed because of how scary they were to the child. They also took off the hands and attached claws, replacing the eyes with buttons. But no matter what, they always loved each other.

Another sound-inspired creature. Ever wondered who’s responsible for that awful noise made when heavy objects such as furniture are dragged across the floor? Meet Gwar and he will show you how it’s done.
