#6 – Bandages

Just some doodles in my sketchbook. I don’t really have much of a personal art style, everything I draw looks different!

hemlock, elven assassin

hemlock, elven assassin

Hemlock, she goes by this name as her real name is very much a secret and in all honesty perhaps even forgotten, is part of a cadre of elves that perform political assassinations and other crimes for the feuding families-all for a price of course.

I’m really bad at coming up with names, I have no idea what to call her. (Any ideas? 🙁 )

But here’s a cute illustration of a witch! She’s part of a project I’m working on in my Narrative / Children’s Book Illustration class I’m taking.

#9 – Dormere Velhandel

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

“Trust me, sir, if it weren’t for the fact that your magic pays for my chiropractor, I wouldn’t be here picking lint out of your toes.”

Dormere Velhandel is the right hand man to Haltenti, or at least, when Haltenti remembers to pay him.

Dormere suffers from a myriad of personal and medical problems. Along with a really bad hunchback (and a bad back in general), he suffers from anger mangement problems alongside depression. Doctors have put him on all sorts of medications for these problems… and it just creates more. His current set of pills has him in a sort of numb stupor, while his anger problems are not quite as surpressed as they should be.

So, the result is that Dormere has a very dry, passive-aggressive attitude and contempt for the world. He usually takes it out on the arrogant twit in pink who he has to take care of. He loathes Haltenti and makes no attempt to hide it – as long as he doesn’t make fun of Haltenti’s height, everything he says just bounces off anyway. However, Haltenti pays well, and Dormere is devoted and loyal to those who pay his bills… and only when they pay his bills. Spouting his dry, caustic demeanor and verbal abuse towards Sir Pan Gherten seems to be almost cathartic for Dormere, and perhaps is the only thing getting him through his daily hell of being Haltenti Pan Gherten’s paid assistant.

Dormere is capable of magic, though he knows very little, and he does not make a very good bodyguard. Instead, he merely serves as Haltenti’s personal assistant, doing anything and everything that Haltenti wishes at the time, as long as Haltenti doesn’t try to make him find more beautification spells, or women for him to try to date. He’s only an assistant, not a miracle worker.

Dormere enjoys seafood, rainy days, and holds a secret desire to be a painter. Not that he’s any good at it, but he tries.

#9: Judgement

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

Real Name: Unknown

Age: Unknown

Powers: None; vigilante crime fighter

Character info: Judgement was a character I created when I was around 12 years old. He was a true vigilante character…he made my “darker” superheroes look like wusses. He was a “shoot-first-ask-questions-later” kind of guy. Judgement always found himself doubted and questioned by other heroes, but, as much as they hated to admit it, he was a skilled marksman, good in hand-to-hand combat, and got results. I never revealed any secret identity for him, but there was speculation in my comics that he was a former superhero that was thought to be dead. He even had a strained romantic relationship with a female superhero and she ended up pregnant with his child (yeah, I wrote some very soap opera-esqe comics as a pre-teen).

Even though he’s got a stereotypical vigilante look and backstory, I always really liked the character and I’ve wanted to bring him back for sometime. I might find some way to work him into one of my comics and so much of me wants to leave him just as I created him almost 20 years ago!

#8 – Becca Hellhound

This animal only drinks oil, which explains the continuous fire in its belly. The tail is there only to serve as an exhaust pipe. Normally, the front incisors would be longer on this type of canine, but because of its ability to breathe fire their usefulness was removed via evolution. The facial markings of a smile are made from its main choice of food, which is charcoal and other such black minerals.

#7 diver 6

chita montez is diver 6

chita montez is diver 6

Chita Montez is a professional diver, she makes her living escorting rich tourists out for different dives. She is a former olympian(bronze medal) and also a former member of the CNI(spain’s version of the cia)-she left the CNI after a dustup in somalia left 3 of her comrades dead. Now she conducts dives off the coast of brazil-the fashions are rather liberal ^^; in this part of the world.

She was contacted for a dive(along with 5 other divers), the party who rented the boat was a bit odd-3 americans and 2 colombians(she could tell by the accent). They were typically boorish and arrogant and she had pegged the americans as either cia or working for some other intel agency. Nonetheless, money is money…after a few hours of conch diving(and a few caparinhas) and fishing the americans and the colombians were settled on the deck discussing business with some urgency. Chita continued to dive and as she was underwater heard a tremendous commotion and saw the boat catch on fire. Surfacing briefly she saw a hail of gunfire as 2 assault helicopters strafed the boat and another lowered armed men into it… She saw the other divers shot dead as they surfaced. In the confusion she managed to swim far enough away to avoid the men and the copters…She is now being pursued as the only living member of this sea party. She is known as diver 6 by the us govt agency trying to kill her.

This monstrous bird was once thought to be a feathered dragon; however, after realizing that it could not breathe fire nor did it have any sort of canines, the theories were dismissed. It uses its powerful tail and spinal scales for mating rituals, as well as to defend its nest.

#6 – Floozy

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

A rather cute creature in looks and nature, it depends on the bubblefruit for sustenance. Using its long tail (which seems to be its only appendage), it pierces the skin of the fruit and uses the tail’s internal esophagus to consume the contents over a long period of time. Needless to say, if the contents of the fruit are rotten or dry up, this animal will die.

#9: Master of Coins

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

Name: Unknown

Aliases: The Master of Coins

Hair: None

Eyes: Black

Height: 5’2

Weight: Unknown

Bio: There is no confirmed information about The Master of Coins. We only know he has spent much of his recent life in Peking, China, before emigrating to the United States in 2004. All information on his passport has been rendered irrelevant by massive plastic surgery.

Powers: Utterly unpredictable. The Master can transform any coin he is holding into the Omni-Coin, and each time he flips it, he manifests a new power.

Depending on the flip, the Master can either be a match for altered humans like Hedgehog or for physical gods like Entropy.

The Master is physically in his 80’s, though we suspect him to be much, much older. As such, he is rather frail in combat without a flip.

05 – Pato and Miss Jennifer

| November 9, 2011 | 1 Comment

When, at the age of 97, the incredibly successful amateur detective Mrs Sycamore passed away, she revealled in her will that over the last ten years she had had a correspondant with whom she shared ideas, and indeed had helped to solve many of her most difficult cases.  They were addressed to someone called Pato, and Mrs Sycamore, having amassed a decent little fortune over the years, had left a large chunk of it to Pato “in the hopes he would be able to make good use of it”.  So, the executors headed off to the small village of Oldbrook-in-the-Willows to locate, Miss Jennifer Nettles – a woman who apparently managed Pato’s letters.

When they got there, they were in for a surprise – they found Miss Jennifer easily enough, an intelligent young woman a few years out of collage and she agreed to take them to Pato.  They were however greatly surprised when she took them down to the village duckpond.  Pato it seemed was a little white duck.  Although the people were aware that this was preposterous and the duck was infact saying “PatoPatoPatoPato”, they somehow realised they understood him to actually be making astute comments in a sophisticated and good natured way.  Miss Jenny, it seemed, would come and do the writing for him, as there are some things to which it is too much of a strain on a duck’s anatomy.  With the newfound wealth, Pato hired Miss Jenny to be his personal companion and assistant, and they set off on the 3 o’clock train that afternoon for London, and then preceded to travel far and wide across the continent by train, unravelling crime and solving mysteries as they went as the worlds greatest detective and his best friend.

Thankyou to Megan for her part in the birth of Pato!  While on holiday in Seville, we noticed the word for “duck” in Spanish was “Pato”, which is a great sounding little word.  It is perhaps the similarity to “Poirot” that led to Pato developing in this direction.   I image Pato is very much in the Agatha Christie school of crime solving – it would always end with the remaining suspects in a room where Pato reveals how he deduced the murderer, with some help from Jenny of course!

Process work

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

Not an official entry but here’s some black and white process work I did for practice. (Negative space and all that). It’s really fun to do! This really helps me come up with new ideas and I would recommend this method to others.

These were for my earlier robot designs. (Click for larger size)

Should I develop any of these profiles farther?

#9 Coffee Boy Scott

| November 9, 2011 | 2 Comments

Scott Schroeder is a 19 year old student at Coolidge Community College where he is studying  Marine Biology. His passion is SCUBA diving and dreams of opening his very own Dive Shop in his hometown of  Las Vegas Nevada someday.

He works part-time as a coffee boy at the local Starbucks where he has become known as “Coffee Boy, The Bravest Man in the World.”

Why?

Because he has the steely nerve to charge four bucks for a cup of coffee and still gesture towards a tip jar.

Bravest man in the world indeed.

#3 – Even more robots!

| November 9, 2011 | 1 Comment

Okay, this is my last official submission with robots. For now… (but really, I’ll be exploring other kinds of characters in the future).

I’m not sure if these should count as multiple characters but I think three groups of robot pictures should be enough, haha.

Which one is your favorite? 😀

#9 Negotio, trainee of the Moira

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

Again someone with curly short hair. But that’s just because I used some reference material and this was the common hairstyle of greek pupils ^^°

The name of this young boy Negotio and he is one of the many sons of  Zeus. His father wanted him to take over a worthy job and so he asked the Moira, the female gods of the destiny, to take him as a trainee. The three Moira were not happy about this but did their best to educate Negotio.  One day he should learn to spin the destiny of human but e did a little misstake which had an enormous impact on the destiny of a few people. Because of this he became the personification of coincidence,  pictured by a tossed coin.

Negotio is a clumsy boy, who always tries to give his best but often fails. Hardly anyone can be angry with him. The coronal and his green stole reminds the other gods, that he is a son of  Zeus.

The design of Negotio is based on some pictures of an  encyclopedia about the ancient  greek. I’ve found a picture of a school day where the pupils were wearing their stoles like this. His cloth is a bit longer than usual for young boys because he is the son of  a god.

I’m trying to create a new drawing style, but I’m really not happy about his face
