#8 – Alvin & the Drummer

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Alvin knows how to rock. The drummer's a pretty cool guy too.

Alvin is the drum kit, the product of drawing a drum kit and realising it looks like a face.

Chicky-Cat Girl

Mellisa the Chicky-cat GirlOnce upon a time there was a pregnant woman who sat a knit socks in a rocking chair. And while she sat and rocked and knit. A cat sat on her head and a chicken sat on her lap. Hence Chicky-cat girl was born. She grew up, went to community college and got an awkward and thankless minimum wage job at Chick-Fil-A.

#5 Beatrice Cornflower

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Poor Beatrice was the daughter of a witch living on Rosenburg Hill. The witch was a mad, horrible woman and would beat her if her daily chores were not done properly. Eventually, the villagers lynched the witch to death and killed Beatrice as well; but the strong magic of the hill’s garden, where she spent all of her free time, tied her spirit to a scarecrow her mother had made some years before. Now she lives in isolation tending the gardens, happy in her secluded life with nothing but the plants and animals of Rosenburg Hill’s great and beautiful garden for company.

# 8 – MoonMan

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

In spite of his name, MoonMan is actually a Plutonian.  “MoonMan” is actually a title for those who hold a position in the Galactic Law Enforcement Corps.  His assignment is to guard the inner planets from the Creatures and other threats.  Although he is rather short – four feet, ten inches – he is a formidable opponent, and his staff can emit a variety of forms of energy.

[In 1974, at the age of 12, I drew a series of “comic books” detailing the adventures of Merrill, a 15-year-old human boy, in the Other Land, an invisible dimension which co-exists with our own.  The characters I am submitting throughout the 30 Days are the inhabitants of the Other Land.]

#4 Lord Drennos

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Lord Drennos is an old and powerful demon. His name is unknown to mortal demonologists for his machinations are much more secretive than those of his brethren. He is one of Satan’s right hand men.

My challenge for this character was to essentially make someone who was very strong but also very old.

# 7 – Jesse

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

This dude is Jesse, and as you all can see, he has six arms. He is not a superhero or a hindu-god (he would most likely be plenty successful in both areas, if he just tried) – he’s just studying to become an engineer, and has no interest in joining his fellow freaks in the hero- or god-business.

May the winds carry me safely across the sea to deliver this cake recipe.

Of course it isn’t a map, that’s far too cliché.

#5 – Mr Tay Stee Fish

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

The irony is he's serving fish fingers.

A distinguished gentleman of the highest calibre. He enjoys caviar and sushi.

#4 – Uncle Roger

He's great with the kids.

I’ll probably draw his owner next. Mr. Tay Stee Fish.

02 – Kesari Singh

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Kesari Singh is the latest bearer of the ancient weapon known as the Divine Rod.  It is an incredibly potent artifact, created over 1200 years ago by some of the holiest men in the world, distilling a tiny portion of the essence of their Gods into a staff.  It’s powers are vast – it grants the bearer superhuman reflexes, and automatically guides the movement of the bearer to the point where a weilder could stroll forward into machine gun fire and the staff would deflect every single bullet.  It is also capable of prolonging a bearers life indefinitly, breaking any substance short of something similarly divinely infused, absorbing energy (divine, magical and natural) and banishing monsters and demons from this realm.

It does have one rather specific requirement though – it cannot be used to kill nor be used by a killer – in the hands of such a person it is merely an ordinary staff.  While this doesn’t include accidents, it is specific enough to include that a bearer must have never knowingly consumed meat.  This tends to be the way through which the staff is passed on – eventually a bearer tends to encounter an evil which no other can defeat, and can only be ended with it’s death, and so they unleash its awesome power once to end this evil, but in doign so become unworthy of the staff.

Kesari is the current bearer of the staff, having bourn it for twenty seven years now – she was raised from birth to be worthy of it.  Now she walks the land vanquishing evil and protecting the innocent wherever she goes.

This was an attempt to use a challenging colour palette for a painting and I don’t think it necessarily entirely worked.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, as you can’t really improve without pushing your boundries.  Slightly more irritatingly, focusing on the colours caused me to mess up on the anatomy a bit, but nevermind.

#4 – Ariella Kipp

Ariella Kipp is a nasty girl. She like to abuse others as a sick form of entertainment. She doesn’t have any friends that are alive, but see is very friendly with the deceased.

#8 Monkey-Wolf

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

The monkey-wolf was not created in the typical horror way, he was developed in an ENEMY lab. He can transform between a regular monkey and a wolf monkey hybrid. The heightened senses come at the price of having less restraint… he’s given to more of his animalistic impulses in hybrid form

#6 – Ian Fellows

| November 8, 2011 | 2 Comments

Hipster lent our prized vinyl?  Ian Fellows never returned it.  Hipster wants bohemian brownstone apartment downtown?  Ian Fellows will never vacate it, he has rent control and pays the same per month as he did in 1975; he will die there.  Hipster seeks out sweet vintage clothing?  Ian Fellows pillages all sweet threads from Goodwill, before 11am.  Hipster plays the accordion?  Ian Fellows plays it better.  Hipster is cool.  Ian Fellows is a nerdy old man.

#8 Man-Flu

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

The scourge of MANkind, able to bring any man to his knees. Know to be defeated by cuppasoups and a soft blanket on the sofa though.

He has a weaker version – normal flu, which women can fight off with ease!

#8- Gretchen the soloist

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Gretchen used to be a cellist in the National Orchestra of the German Democratic Republic. One day, her fiancé got arrested by the Stasi, never to come back. She knew what had happened in the interrogation room, and took to pulling the strings on some high-ranked officers.

After her revenge, she had to escape to the U.S. Knowing she would never be able to walk onstage again, she took up a new job where she could employ her newly acquired abilities with the strings.

#8 Miranda Glynnis

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

In the world of Elhi, everyone knows 3 things about Mermaids.

1.Because they don’t have souls,Mermaids,and Mermen,cannot die.

2.If you possess a Mermaid’s comb, she must do your bidding.

3.Whatever name she gives you is a false one.Land dwellers CANNOT pronounce a mermaids true name.

70 years ago the mermaid known as Miranda Waverly, had her comb stolen by Herminia Ingraham, owner of Ingraham’s Traveling Oddities, and was forced to perform in her show. She spent night after night sitting in a murky tank, and flirting with whatever rube happened to tap on the glass. After 7 years of this the show pulled into the city of Purgatory, nestled at the base of the Tarrasque  Mountains and split into 3 parts by the Alighieri river. It was supposed to be a 2 week stay, but a fire at the theater ended the life of Herminia and the days of her traveling show.As the rubble was cleared Miranda stayed at the site, searching desperately for her comb, for without it she can’t return to the sea.She never found it,nor has she discovered it’s whereabouts in the decades since.

Miranda’s skin is pale like Mother of Pearl, and she has deep blue eyes, and hair that, like the ocean itself goes from light blue green to stygian black as it cascades down her back. Her tail is bands of blue and purple and ends in bright blue fins with black tips. She has adjusted to life on land, though she must spend one day per week completely submerged in salt water to maintain her health. The local population of RiverFolk have unofficially adopted her as one of their own, though some of the Nixies still snub her.

#08 – Tractor Horribilus

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

While ostensibly driven and maintained by his owner-operator, Tractor has a life of his own. He’s a herald, and is pretty much one-dimensional, since he exists solely for races and competition. Mostly a herald, he’s also an ally in his limited world. Could be developed along the line of Cars (though their treatment of tractors, notwithstanding).

#7 Professor Pinn

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Professor Pinn is like the Q (from 007 movies) to Agent Acorn and the Animal Elite. Pinn is the genius behind the clever gadgets and weapons used by the agents of the Elite. Along with being the Chief Weapons Expert of the AE, Pinn is the Head of Intelligence. Sounds like a lot of work and responsibility for an animal as slow as a turtle but Pinn’s brain works faster than his body does. Let’s just say there are a lot of gophers in his lab…literally.

#7 Lord Sapien

Lord Sapien

Lord Sapien

All Hail His Endlessness, Lord Sapien, The Exemplar, Sovereign of Mankind, Fount of All Blessings, Arbiter of History, Killer of the Giant Squids, Terror of the Gigamerican Republic, Emperor of Alpha Centauri and France, Protector of the Fabled Fountain of Youth, and the Right Hand of the Howling Void. In him and only him, the seed of the superior being, and among his enemies the wailing and gnashing of teeth. His is the face too great to be gazed upon by human eyes. Who is worthy of him but his once and future love, The Bride from Outside Time?

Half-Spanish, Half-Seminole slave who escaped from Spanish conquistadores and found fountain of youth. Killed anyone else who came near it, and has jealously guarded it ever since. After a few centuries of study, training, and contemplation, he named himself Lord Sapien, and decided he was the Sovereign of Mankind, adding the title Arbiter of History for good measure. After killing or incapacitating the elder immortals, he set about to rearrange history to his liking. In this, he was frustrated time and time again by the Tomorrow Detectives, a group of elite operatives from the 80th century who protected the proper flow of time.

Eventually, he was able to hijack one detective’s transport tech and enter the Tomorrow Fortress. He laid waste to it, killing all of the detectives save one and razing most of the fortress to the ground. Emira, the last surviving Tomorrow Detective, defeated him in single combat and sent him back into the timestream, where he reshaped civilization to his dark, twisted liking. He became smitten with Emira Last, and has repeatedly offered to make her his immortal bride. He has sired many, many children over the millennia, and most of them despise their father’s eternal immaturity, even those who fight by his side. He is beset on all sides by intrigue and falsity, and he sees in Emira’s defiance and purity his only hope of escaping the darkness he has created, and that has now trapped him for all time.

Over the years, he has added a variety of nanotech and cybernetic enhancements to defend against his myriad children, powered by the reactor in his chest. His mask is bolted on to his head, to prevent against what he believes is the imminent theft of his face.

#7 – Tiffany

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Tiffany didn’t have all the breaks in life.  She came from a single parent home, was always wearing hand-me-downs, and shopping at thrift stores.  Didn’t get to go her senior prom, or have a full and normal life.  But now she’s putting her past behind her, and working her way through law school.
