03 – iSlayer

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

There are, in the upper ends of society, a lot of people who sometime want other very rich people dead.  Sometimes they want to steal each other’s information.  Sometimes they just want to torment someone.  The more “in” gadget for these and more is the iSlayer, a gadget from the (utterly coincidentally named and branded) Ananas Corporation.  Now in it’s seventh incarnation and standing at 2ft tall, it features a practically indestructible ceramic body, a retractable titanium blade, a grappling hook arm with a 150ft cable, automatic hacking systems and a large brace of darts which can be modified on the fly for adjusting to any scenario.

This latest version has a 28% longer battery life and significant upgrades to the dart system.  The darts can be loaded with a huge range of payloads from an internal library including EMPs, over kinds of nanite and over 1000 poisons.  It can be programmed to use specific “playlists” to blind, paralyse, knock unconcious, cause vomiting in or kill the target.  The most popular feature of this model is the new “shuffle” option which will randomize the poison payload of darts so as to make recovery all but impossible due to multiple exposures.

iSlayers can also be used for personal defense against human and robotic opponents, and can connect to a network to co-ordinate with multiple iSlayers you may own.  Retailling now for a mere $3,500,00 each!

For my third entry I wanted to produce something inorganic, and decided to produce a robot in the current fashion-technology style.  I have to say, getting legs to look right on robots is never easy and this could probably have done with a “floor” to improve it.  I would love to see someone produce one of those Apple adverts for this thing with the kind of things the little side panel shows, it would be great fun.

#8 – Salvitore Al-Adir

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Salvitore is a man who reserves his words until he can speak succinctly. He came into The Word of magic older than most apprentices, around the age of thirteen, and his mother was so fed up with him stalking around mimicing the town’s resident Wizard that she finally dragged him to him and forced him off on the same Wizard as an apprentice. His master was not a kind man, nor was he cruel, but he was certainly very just and a more than adequate teacher. From that man, Salvitore gained an appreciation of other’s worth, and learned to gauge others by effort they put into their life. When his master began to weaken five years later, Salvitore was surprised to find that not only had he left nothing to him in his will, he had in fact written out a letter for him to take to the Academy at Rougebern that he needed to spend a few more years in service before his ‘debt’ was paid off.

This was Salvitore’s first run in with the debt of knowledge that all young Wizards are burdened with, and though he quickly learned and prevailed in the strict environment of the far away school, he always had to fight down his dislike of their treatment. He was soon a master in his own right, and since he already had formulated many new theories on magically-induced growth, and shown himself to be a capable researcher and friendly enough to handle the various comissions that came to the Academy, he was mostly left to his own. It was during this time that he continued to specialize into living things, and their manipulation. Soon that specialization began to affect his abilities. With his master’s seal already in hand, he paid it little mind despite what he already knew about Elementalists. It was during this time he took on Leandra as an apprentice, striving to be at least as fair and even-handed as his master had been. Within another two years, his new abilites were truly blossoming, and he welcomed the half-hearted expulsion from the Academy that was served to him.

He proceeded to the coast to see a busier city, and within a month has already shown himself useful enough to the local nobility to be given more than enough land for his uses, and within another year, he was happily married to the Duke’s daughter, and his first Arboretum was built to house his new creations and his plethora of experiments. He had almost completely forgotten Leandra’s predicament during those years, until she finally caught up with him at his arboretum, bearing a ring all to similar to his own binding guantlet.

Day 8 – Creator

Creator of worlds

He stared at the world’s which sprang up within his hands. Worlds he had unknowingly created through the years.  He looked in amazement and horror with the realization that he must now take responsibility for all the souls he has created.

Sometimes it’s a drag to be the mouthpiece for a god.

The light show you can put on more than makes up for it, though.

#8 Inx, Fallen Angel Politician

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Fallen angels broke their halo’s to signify their allegiance. This had an odd effect on them, in Inx’s case it turned his eyes crazy and gave him ashen skin.

Fleeing from the lovecraftian apocalypse that befell Heaven, Inx took up residence in the Void Commonwealth. He became intent on improving the living conditions of the commonwealth, and so went into politics.

However he is met with suspicion at every turn, apparently no-one trusts a politician.

3 into one to help me catch up. Not happy with this pic. Its just something I doodled at work then finished on the computer. They don’t actually have any names, they’re just heroes. Also no background. If anyone wants to think of names/background for them, be my guest!

Deviating from the car theme again and swinging back into fae territory.

Ron keeps around the various research stations in the Antartic and takes on what hunters there are in the area.  Has a bit of a fascination with one of the meteorologists at the Halley Research Station.

SkyFunk is the type to stay in the background and take careful observations. Carrying much more intelligence than the other Terror Birds, she is patient and will strike at the most opportune moment. SkyFunk NEVER fights a losing battle.

#8 Miss-American

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Another goofy character from a ridiculous story I am working on. This is one disappearing act you might wish would never be invisible, Miss-American:

She started off as Miss Kansas and then went on to win Miss American. Her stunning smile and chilling performance of “God Bless America” hooted beautifully on an old jug made her an easy winner. Sunny and ever optimistic, Sandy Stillwell came from a family of overachievers. Specializing in the sciences of agriculture and technology, the Stillwell’s were wealthy, wise, and wonderful. Struggling with a touch of jealousy, Sandy’s younger sister Sally excelled the most in the area of high-tech science and development. Just arriving home from her Miss American tour, Sandy was horrified to see her family’s homestead in the country ablaze. She immediately called 911 and then went in looking for survivors. Reaching Sally while she still had a few last breaths, Sally revealed that masked men had broken in looking for her latest device’s schematics. The men made off with them successfully, but failed to acquire the device for which they were drawn. The size and shape of three small jewels, Sally had created a trio of powerful magnets which, when engaged simultaneously, could trigger a small distortion in the magnetic field around them, causing them and whatever was within their frequency to seem invisible. Handing a small box containing the magnets, Sally then died in her sister’s arms. Grieving the loss of her family, Sandy remembered the box and opened it. Inside were the three jewel-shaped magnets and a piece of information intentionally left off of the schematics. In order to be activated, the jewels needed to be connected by a special metal – the very same one that Sandy’s Miss American tiara was molded in! Inserting the magnets behind the jewels in her tiara, Sandy was able to make herself disappear. Now Sandy continues to fight for the US in style as the ever beautiful and sometimes invisible Miss-American!

What do you do when a rival family comes along on the most important day of your life and murders everyone you know and love?

Make a pact with the devil and go on a centuries-long killing spree of revenge? Sounds about right.

Having the powers of the sun has some advantages, you always have a bitchin’ tan and don’t have to worry about bleaching your hair, you can act as a flashlight, you always stay warm…

But there are the downsides. Bleeding the sun rather than blood might sound awesome, but it’s just a mess and everything ends up catching on fire.

#8 The One-Hoofed Okapi

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

There is no real picture of this monster, for all who have seen its true form had died before they get to describe it.

This is only one of the many interpretations of the beast, hiding in an abandoned house that only shows itself to those who are curious and willing enough to see it. There is a rumour that you shouldn’t look directly in His third eye. Others say you shouldn’t look at Him completely.

Regardless, it wouldn’t matter. He’s a shapeshifter.

And the body He had been born with was gone before the humans had existed.

He admittedly enjoys walking around the Earth in this form just to watch mortals suffer. If He decides to travel to other realms, it would make sure to use a form that isn’t extremely radioactive.

Then again, other beings in different realms aren’t invulnerable to His sadism. Even Geri Mareth wouldn’t dare to stay if He’s around.

If He takes an interest in you, please try to avoid Him as much as possible.

Days 3 and 4: Corsica and Lillian

| November 8, 2011 | 2 Comments

Titani Corsica Teumess

A lordly huge bitch. She was arranged to marry Obero Teumess, whom unfortunately really loved ladies that were not her. She grew bitter and cold, taking out her anger on the servants and her husband’s illegitimate child, whom she made her sons’ whipping girl.

Day 4: Lillian

Originally a singer and dancer from the 20’s, she had an unfortunate run-in with the mob courtesy of her husband/stage manager. Both were shot and killed.  Several years later Lillian woke up, reanimated although she knows not how, and went back to work as a singer in a horror-themed night club club in Manhattan. She can still sing to an extent although she has trouble hitting the high notes now.  Most people don’t have a problem with her being a zombie, and aside from the odd complaint of a missing cat she’s not too different from any other New Yorker.

#8 Malcolm Crow – Rider

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

The desert unfolds underneath the tires of my bike, stretching as far as the eye can see. I’m the only living thing for miles around, except for scorpions and sagebrush. Some people say that isolation isn’t good for humans, that is makes us forget how to be human. But that’s not what being alone does to me. It reminds how to be a human.

From my viewpoint, I’ve always been alone. My father left before I was born, my mother checked out soon after. She was still there, but not in any way that mattered. So I raised myself as best I could, which wasn’t really all that good to be honest.

I starting out making bad friends, which led me to make bad decisions, and those led to bad situations. By the time I was thirty, I was so deep in there were only two ways out, death or prison. I guess that I was one of the lucky ones that made it to prison.

A decade inside taught me many things, but the most important was that I wasn’t going back. I took my forty dollars and got on a bus. I didn’t get off until I ran out of money.

And now I’m here. Alone in the desert, making ends meet through odd work here and there. It’s nothing like it used to be, when I walked the streets like I owned them. But it doesn’t matter. No one cares about me here me. They don’t even remember me when I’m not there. I’m just one more drifter traveling through the desert, trying to get by.

#5 Morlocks

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

From the journals of the Templar Order:

Morlocks have been constant threat to man since the earliest recorded civilizations.  They are a wild and unpredictable race that seems to only care about satisfying their never-ending appetites.   Though they appear human, they are far more bestial and animalistic than any man I have ever encountered.  Morlocks tend to live underground and, as such, have keen eyesight in the darkness.  Despite their lean bodies, they are incredibly strong, and any Hunter who encounters them should beware their claws, which can cut through one with ease.  Most importantly, one should always remember that a Morlock is part of a pack; they never hunt alone.  Thus, where there is one Morlock, there will also be many more…

Not much to say about this one. He’s…he’s low res?

Day 8: Chet and Chad

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Chet is a little afraid of her best friend. He doesn’t seem dangerous, he’s just a little overly dead for her tastes.

Chad has come back from the grave to uncover his killer. He doesn’t remember much about how he kicked, so he sought out his best childhood friend for a hand. Chet was surprised, not only because Chad’s a ghost, but because they hadn’t hung out for much of highschool. It didn’t seem to matter to Chad, and he bugs her to help him out.

Unfortunately for Chet, the circumstances that allowed Chad to come back aren’t random. There’s a force pulling supernatural strings, and the pair we’ll have to do more than get their Scooby Doo on to learn the truth.

#8 Ribbit

Ribbit is a slightly miserable frog who resents having to be saved (often) by the gang of superheroes. Grumpy to everyone, he has few friends, but those who do get to know him appreciate his realistic outlook on life.

#3 Gorgona

| November 8, 2011 | 5 Comments

Art by Michael Powell (@mpowelljr)
Words by Rolando Garcia (@roshow)

She was born and bred a rich, spoiled brat. She was a selfish little monster of a girl, hiding her nastiness behind a button nose and her long curls. If you didn’t give her what she wanted, or even looked at her funny, an earth shaking tantrum was sure to follow. And right behind that tantrum were daddy and mommy to give their little princess whatever she wanted.

But even the meanest little girls don’t deserve Leukemia at the age of 11. No matter how rich mom and dad were, they couldn’t spare her the pain of treatment or the humiliation of losing her gorgeous hair. The poor little girl wouldn’t even look at herself in the mirror anymore.

In a desperate attempt to save her life, her well connected father got his hands on an experimental treatment his friends had cooked up in the most secret of government facilities. What they didn’t tell him was that the “treatment” was actually a living creature of unknown origin that could bond to and heal human bodies.

The “treatment” was administered to the little girl while she sleeping. As the creature took hold, it searched her feelings and thoughts. What no one knew was that this living, fully conscious thing fed off human feelings of happiness. When it found what the little girl desired most – her beautiful hair – it completed the bond and took the shape of her locks.

The girl woke up the next morning to find herself not only feeling much better but with a full, luscious head of hair that was even more beautiful than she remembered it. She was overcome with happiness… and the creature fed. Not only that, the creature realized that to continue its own existence, it had to help her get what she wanted. And the little girl slowly realized this little-known-fact about her new head of “hair.”

Now she doesn’t need daddy to give her what she wants. The creature does whatever it thinks will make her happy. Like get her pretty new jewelry without paying for it. Or take that new sports car she saw some loser driving. Or hurt people who look at her funny.  Or whatever else Gorgona damn well pleases.
