The Scarlet Fiend

This is a new hero for my roster. She prefers being in her full body suit due to her skin “condition.” Working on more details.

#8-Jet Disco-20 years later

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Jet always knew he was special. He just thought it was something that he had to create. And growing up with no chance at being special at pleasant, worthwhile things, Jet became the biggest drug dealer in Verde City. He thought it’s be easier anyways, and it often was. Over the years he had found himself in many tough situations, especially after the rise of the Pusherman, that he thought he had just narrowly escaped with luck, but it turns out it was all skill, and it finally hit him full force. And with his new power he did what he could to prove to everyone he was special, spread his tyranny as far as he could, killing and enslaving at his will. After all he’s special, apparently the most special of all, shouldn’t that be what he should be? Ruler? God? Destroyer? He’s currently leaning towards Destroyer, what with being trapped in a the Elite Force’s special containment bubble under miles of Earth. He will make them pay for this, especially him.

Not a big fan of my sketch for today, but it’s my first night to relax in days so I was kind of quick about it. Enjoy the little description at least. And I don’t have a power set in mind for Jet. Just strong and fast at this point, a little Akira tribute maybe, who knows?

#8 Grandfather Sionnach

Grandfrather Sionnach is the Grandpa to Aven Sionnach. He’s taken care of her since she was young and her parents disappeared. He owns a mechanics shop which Aven and Felix help out around. He adopted Felix into his home  after Felix was released out of the hospital, since both he and Aven had grown close to him. Mr. Sionnach has recently been commissioned  to create a device to detect stowaways and smuggled goods on trains.

“Is that a fire alarm?” Reynold barked to the oblivious team of programmers and bio- engineers. A soft whirring sound, hardly an alarm at all- but to shock someone badly in this facility, while handling certain materials and causing a spill, would be worse than any fire. “I believe it is,” Kelly Anne said slowly, as the rest of the team began to raise faces from the soft glowing monitors, a soft and stunned look on all of their faces.

Reynold hated this place, these people. Not because he was a capable millitary man, a veteran of several, special missions, and undeserving of such a tedious posting, but because these people were weak. not just physically, but everything about them was soft. It was hard for him to imagine that these people would eventually help change the way wars were fought. How could people who were on the cutting edge of gene manipulation look so… useless, as they do now, staggering to their feet, unused to movement?

“Where is the fire?” one of the chemists, Charles Walton, mumbled, as Reynold looked to the computer surveillances for answers. ” Looks like it’s over by the, what do you call them, K- Class levels? Yeah, over there. No problem, my men are already on the scene”, Reynold preened, satisfied that the few millitary men he did have under his command were in control. Patterson and MacMillan. Thankfully, these men were a seperate, autonomous unit.

Of a sudden, Col. Frances Patterson’s EKG and Bio- reader flatlined. These scanners glitched all of the time, but the Bio reader stayed dead- the sound much more startling than the fire alarm. Reynold frowned, grabbed a headset. “No joking around, Ace. What is happening there, over?” Suddenly, the line was full of voices- scientists and workers from that section all crowded the com systems. Bedlam. Chaos.

“Dammit, it’s just a fire, what the hell is going on down there?!” Reynold growled as several scientists gathered around the communications array. Suddenly, with a horrid shriek of pain abruptly cut off, MacMillan’s EKG flatlined, making all of the scientists jump, and sending tendrils of worried mumbling among the rest. Reynolds turned to the others. “Stay here, I’m going to see what is going on down there. It’s just the fire has damaged something, that’s all.” None of them looked like they believed that, they all looked like they had seen a ghost- or were already dead. “Don’t go down there, sir”, Mary Anne softly said. Slowly, Reynolds turned to her. She gestured weakly to one of the surveillance camera feeds, a small monitor. All eyes went to it in mute horror.

The experiment was supposed to be the beginning of a genetic manipulation of insect life to create modified signal carriers, incorporate the latest in nano computers as well as genetics to help reduce collateral damage in major combat operations, by designing animals that could home in on a mobile target’s position and leave special bio signals to allow for pinpoint eliminations. The animals, insects, were decades away from the final stages of development, the target generation from being born.  But what was swarming out of the lower levels of the research compound was a horror, monsters- a shadow the size of a man, bigger, and laden with talons.

These things were made to do the eliminating themselves.

In the final moments, as the steel doors buckled to the labs and the screams rose higher, as the shapes blurred into the room, Reynolds wondered, with a detached sense of betrayal, at what the lower labs had been making, all these years…

#7 Alice Paca

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

#7 Alice Paca (fantasy) Alice is an anthropomorphic cartoon alpaca. She is stylish and modern, even though she still has to deal with the animal aspect of her species — just like the rest of us. 🙂

My wife, brother-in-law, and I visited an alpaca farm just a few weeks ago. They are fasinating animals, each with their own distinctive looks. As our 30 Characters Challenge was just a couple weeks away, I started thinking about how these alpacas would look as cartoon characters. They would all be long necked, barrel chested & skinny rumped, and have those long legs on the bottom. I could see where Momma( the breeding female of the group) could end being a fashion model of the alpaca world, floppy hair on top of her head and all — thus, Alice.

Day 8 - Big Nose McPherson by George WardBig Nose McPherson is a farmer who is also one of the strongest men around.  He likes his privacy and only goes to town to sell his produce and pick up supplies.  He used to get into fights when people made fun of his nose but, since he usually won, he doesn’t get picked on anymore.

#5 Kevin Keeling

Day 5:  Kevin Keeling

Project:  Something for a friend, actually.

An art school student, Kevin Keeling studies in the fashion department.  He struggles with his own homosexuality and his personal need to distance himself from gay stereotypes, often condemning other gays for being “too gay.”  Kevin is a bit of a loner, very focused on his work and seldom makes time to hang out with his friends or meet new people, but his designs suggest that he is a romantic at heart.

This character is not one I plan on using myself.  I invented him for a friend who is starting up a character/relationship-focused project about art school students and asked me to create a character, and I thought it would be a good impetus to help me catch up on the 30 Characters challenge.  As such, I’ve kept the character bio light on the details, to make sure he’s flexible to whatever he needs to use him for.

In any case, enjoy!

#8 Queen Persephone

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Again only a sketch, I#m not feeling good today.

Today I tried to draw Persephone, queen of the netherworld and ruler of spring as well. She was an important NPC in a pen&paper RPG I took part and because of that I tried to stick to our game masters drawing style a little. I failed, to be honest  ^^° Her dress will be black and green and it was described dfferent than the one I’ve drawn, but I thought it would be nice to draw one based on greek fashion.

Persephone is a responsible, sometime “mind twisted” queen, but she will always keep her word. She believes in the loyality of the children of Nyx, the inhabitants of the netherworld (mostly deathspirits like Thanatos, Ker, Charon,  …), but she had to learn, that they are loyal to their duties and nothing else.

That’s all so far, see you tomorrow

#8: Spare Change

| November 8, 2011 | 2 Comments

Name: Jason Freeman
Aliases: Spare Change, Treasurer, Meter Master
Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Height: 5’7

Weight: 155 lb
Bio: Jason was born in Norfolk, Northern Virginia in 1986. Coming from a lower middle-class family, Jason graduated high school and found work as a parking enforcement officer.  In 2009, he attempted to ticket super-criminal Black Hat, and was kidnapped and held by the Union of Superior Individuals for eleven days before their Norfolk base was raided and Jason was set free.

Having now been given a frontline view of the Bureau’s combat strategy and technologies, Jason was conscripted into Operation: At the Gates.

Powers: Jason has powers tied to coins. They are as follows:

Pennies: Jason can accelerate these to Mach 2 when he throws them, making them an excellent anti personnel weapon.

Nickels: Jason can expand the nickel into a shield roughly a meter in diameter. The shield is estimated to have twice the strength of a kevlar vest.

Dimes: Jason can force these to detonate after a set amount of time. The explosion is equivalent to that of a fragmentation grenade.

Quarters: Jason can transform these into knuckles, allowing him over ten times his natural strength in his hands.

Half-dollars: Jason can transform these into swords, stronger than steel and attached to his hands.

Dollar coins: Similar to dimes, Jason can activate a large explosion with these.  He refused to test the coin, claiming the testing facility was too small to contain it.

#8 Kargoth The Unrelenting

| November 8, 2011 | 9 Comments

As far as Orcs go, Kargoth the Unrelenting would be considered the Alpha Orc. What he lacks in brains he more than makes up for with brute strength and ferocity.  Hand to hand combat with Kargoth is pretty much  a suicide mission.  Magic Missile attacks only make him angry. So unless you have 18/00 strength and at least a +3 sword DO NOT tangle with this dude. Listen, and understand! This Orc is somehwere in that dungeon.  It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Kargoth also loves puppies, show tunes, and long walks on the beach.

His turn offs are rude people and high level magic users.
