#4 Blue eyes dragon

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

This guy is totally blind, those eyes on his hide is just markings. He has better hearing, though, and can sense movement more than anything by picking out soundwaves with the disks portruding from his back. Blue is an agressive type and will not back down when he has something to say but is more than ears when someone else speaks. Be careful though, He almost never likes what he hears.

I think I’ll make a little series of these kind of characters, I want to work with more vivid colours.

#7 Red Killmaster,Freelance Secret Agent

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Red was hired by bored Trillionaire Percival Gaylord Foggybottom to be his bodyguard. While traveling in France, Red thwarted an attempt to steal the Eiffel Tower, and replace it with a copy made of licorice,by killing everyone involved in horribly violent ways.Inspired by this and wanting to “give back” to the world Percival started his own spy agency to “protect” the innocent. This protection usually involves dropping Red in,having him rip the front of the troublemaker’s head off,and punching them directly in the brain while their children watch and cry.He then deflowers all the “innocents” he can before collapsing in a drunken coma until the next mission.

#07 – Stan the Ram

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Stan’s another ally. Of course, he’s into the approval/social scene, but is there for you (as long as he’s treated with good manners). Can be a bit stubborn at times. but mostly just around to help. Loves to eat, just about anything. (No, tin cans are an urban legend.)

#6 Flinch

| November 7, 2011 | 1 Comment

Ever heard of the phrase “Crazy like a fox”? Well they must have been referring to Flinch. This self proclaimed “Master of Mass Murder” is as deranged and psychotic as they come. He takes immense pleasure in the hunt of his victims. A trained killer, who works for the highest bidder, Flinch just might be the most dangerous animal being alive. Despite his nervous twitch (hence the name), Flinch is also an incredible marksman but prefers to get up close and personal with a knife.

#7 – Shallia

| November 7, 2011 | 1 Comment

“Follow me, if you would see the Ruins,” She breathed to me, her body glistening in the blinding light of the hazed skies above. I had never before seen such a beauty. Slowly she strode into the water, heading out into the grey lake.

“Will… will He be there?” I asked, knowing that those ancient standing stones were supposedly at the base of the greatest mountains of old, the ColdThrones- mountains said to be guarded by an entity since the mountains were first spoken of. The water was freezing, but I tried my best to follow the bronze- skinned woman who had led me this far. Shallia, so enigmatic, had claimed that she had met the being. Being entranced by her voluptuous physique, I believed her, but now found myself doubting.

“How came you to see what it is said cannot be seen?” I asked. She laughed over her shoulder as a cold breeze rippled the lake’s waters. “I think that it wanted to see me, young mage,” She sighed, the waters seeming to hold her close to the surface, as if her sacrifice of allowing them to lap at her legs was a favour rewarded by defying it’s own nature. I began to realize that I was in to my waist now, and having trouble with my footing in the numbing depths. ” I can suppose why,” I said wryly, but suddenly found her stopped, looking back at me, a faint smile on her face, the first of the ruins beckoning from just beyond her shadow.

With a gesture, an eldrich flourish of witchlight sprung from her hand, catching in the depths of her eyes. My breath rushed out in a gasp.

“Indeed,” she murmured. “He could sense great potential in me, could see the power in me, when I made this trek, three hundred years ago. Now, it is your turn, as I too was guided, so I guide you, and He shall judge for Himself.”

The rest of the journey found me much more… humble.

#5: Vera Connelly

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

This is Bernard’s mother, Vera. She died in a car crash along with his father when Bernard was 10 (he now lives with his grandparents).

Vera couldn’t stand being still, so she was always dancing and moving around. She was very optimistic, and was generally well loved by most people she came across. Her nature did tend to get her in trouble sometimes, however, because she was also a little naive.

Bernard and Vera belong to my comic, Oneiric.

#7: Shawn McGreggor

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Name: Shawn McGreggor
Age: 17
Likes: Parties, music to party to, having a good time with friends, parties, and the items found at parties (heh, heh)
Dislikes: Parents who bust up parties, cancelled parties, weekends with no parties

Character info: Shawn is a secondary character who will first show up in “Simon Says” #5. I just recently did a rewrite to the script and this character initially wasn’t in it. However, I took a few lines from other characters, borrowed the basic look and personality from a character from a story I wrote when I was a teenager, and Shawn McGreggor was born. It also helps that Shawn is loosely based on three different guys I knew when I was growing up. Since Simon Says #5 and #6 will be started soon by the artists, I had to whip up a sketch of what this character will look like. He’s THE party guy in Eastlake; he knows about all the parties and is invited to all the parties, regardless of who is throwing them. He always knows his way around. He’s the guy you knew in school that was waiting for the big blast to hit on Friday or Saturday night and knew how to score something for it. What you see is what you get with that sketch above, haha. For more info on Simon Says, check out preview pages for issue 1 here.

#8 & 9 — Mr. & Mrs. Smiff

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

More Doodzes. Here we have two more of the Bamboora village elders, Mr. and Mrs. Smiff. Unlike the other elders we’ve met so far, these two are old but not cranky and bitter.  Maybe that’s because they have each other.  Imagine the sweetest, cutest old couple you’ve ever met. This is what Mr. and Mrs. Smiff are like.

Number 4: The Creater

Full name: Unknown
Alias: The Creater
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Allignment: Mercenary
Race: Unknown
Height: Unknown
Abilities: Can combine his arms together to create different weaponry. Single- handgun/knife, Double- SMG/shield, Triple- shotgun/shortsword/hammer, Quadruple- assault rifle/longsword, Quintuple- LMG/greatsword, Sextuplet- sniper rifle/giant hammer

Appearance: Six arms, long black trench coat, low hooded face, glowing green eyes
Bio: Little is known of the gun-for-hire simply known as The Creater. It is rumored that he is a demon sent from the Underworld to wreck havoc on Earth, but nobody knows for sure. In fact, his name and his skill are all that is known about him. It is said that when a client gathers the resources the pay for his services, The Creater will appear and take the job regardless of the details, demanding half his pay up front. After carrying out his mission, The Creater may or may not collect on the rest, but as far as anyone knows, he does so completely arbitrarily. One thing is for certain, though, The Creater is not a rational being, he lives only to cause mayhem for whoever pays.

#6 Gabriel Hearstfeld – Crusader

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Angels first came on Christmas. I watched them descend on pillars of heavenly light. They were the most beautiful sight that I had ever seen. And I called out to everyone to come see the wonder and glory of them, but no one came. Nobody would answer my call, for they were all too busy and wrapped up in their mundane affairs.

My own children pushed me aside, ignoring the divine presence before them in favor of their temporal pleasure.

I knelt before the angels and I prayed. I prayed for many days and nights, sustained by nothing more than their presence. And the Angels answered my prayers.

They said that I must carry salvation out to the masses, because they would not hear it for themselves. They armed me against the opposition I would face, for there are many agents of the Evil One that will stop at nothing to prevent the Holy Message from being heard. They provided me with a sword which could pierce any armor and a shield that would never break or bend. The Angels promised as long as my faith held, that my mission would succeed.

The Great Work was long and difficult. The servants of the Evil One were clever and devious. They took on the form of those familiar to me, attempting to discourage me with pleas and begging. But their tricks were weak, and my arm never faltered. I left them lying on the ground.

Nothing would impede my Holy Quest to carry forth the message of the Lord’s Angels, no matter how many had to fall before me.

#6 The Wheel

The Wheel

The Wheel

Soledad Spears was raised by her parents to be a bullet aimed at the future. They trained her to hunt, cook, fix things, fight, and use every weapon, tool, artifact or vehicle imaginable for the liberation of the common man. They taught her to track, to think critically, to read, and to understand her dreams and respect the words of the prophets. They sent her off to school, which she hated. But when she came back for vacation, they were gone, their camp destroyed.

She dropped out, and went underground. Now she drives for criminals while fighting for the people and exposing crooked politicians and police. While driving for the MEDUSA LEAGUE, she realizes that the car she’s using is an experimental prototype, that will be used for evil. She takes off with it, and the MEDUSA LEAGUE gives chase.

A chance encounter with EZEKIEL, the last of the renegade prophets, results in them teaming up to escape the religious assassins of THE ELECT. Although The Wheel is more skeptical of the partnership, Ezekiel sees in a dream that they should stay together, fighting crime and exposing magicians as they search for clues to the location of the elusive School of The Prophets.

(notes: original text from my notebook: “He’s a renegade prophet, she’s a hellcat getaway driver - together they fight crime!  EZEKIEL AND THE WHEEL)

07 – Soul Fire by Beausephus

| November 7, 2011 | 2 Comments

CHARACTER NAME: Soul Fire
DATE OF CREATION: 1992-3

CONCEPT: A group of young mystics seek to gain supposed “true power” and wind up trapped by the very forces they sought to control.  SOUL FIRE, along with THUNDER CROSS found themselves without a physical bodies , consumed by the power they sought to control.  SOUL FIRE rededicated himself to his study of magic and the mystic arts, determined to control the power that was literally destroying him.  He discovered a way to hinder the energy but not how to cure himself.  Bound in blessed metals and enchanted symbols, SOUL FIRE can now control the elemental energies, but he has seemingly forever lost his true human form and like the chains that bind his burning form, so too is his humanity trapped inside the inferno that engulfs him.

____________________________

The original idea that became SOUL FIRE and THUNDER CROSS and his friends started during a period of really looking into and observing the Ditko Doctor Strange and the Simonson Thor runs.  Magic versus humanity.  So I took three selfish young mystics training to in some secret art who desire more and endeavor to find ways of achieving more raw power.  In a Faustian accident brought on by their hubris they find themselves dominated and possessed by the elemental energies they sought to control.  In the end, they decide to redeem themselves by using their powers for good before the energies that grant them their abilities consume them.  This basic origin created three characters – VENGEANCE, THUNDER CROSS, and SOUL FIRE…. magic based spandex superheroes. A recreation of the original design is below.

So when I went to re-envision these designs for the new century, I took everything down a more sinister path.  Instead of the characters merely gaining abilities they have questionable control over, the mystic energies possess and destroy everything that they believe makes them human.  Instead of donning metal gloves and a Ferro-Lad inspired helmet, THUNDER CROSS, must use physics, electonics, and rudimentary magic to create a harness that will allow him to keep a mostly human shape while he seeks a way, with his peers, to pay for their vanity and hopefully restore themselves to their true forms.  Instead of donning an obviously inspired Gambit style costume, SOUL FIRE, like THUNDER CROSS, is immolated by energy and mystical forces, but SOUL FIRE turns to the the truly mystic and magical to control his form.

If the exploration of a hero’s jounrey is what makes one a hero, I believe one first must rediscover who they are.  THUNDER CROSS and SOUL FIRE are examples of a characters whose choices damn them but force them to rediscover their beliefs right  down their very concept of self…. with a bunch of explosions and magic battles thrown in to keep things exciting.

The image above is a new take on a basic spandex superhero, but in all honesty, I like the original design below more than the revamped design above.  While I like the new direction of the characters’ stories, I feel the new THUNDER CROSS design is far superior to the new SOUL FIRE design.  Rethinking the design may be in order…perhaps an update will soon follow….

#7 Aubrey Amiroo

Airship captain with a greeting-card worthy grin.

Death Winds Pilot

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments
A genocidal pilot with a jetpack who sprays towns.

Sprayer of soils and soiler of lungs.

When the public finally became aware of the NATO Program called “Hazed Earth,” the concentrations of barium and soil bleaches were increased nearly tenfold, transforming the hazy white seeding trails to a ruddy, blackened smear.  The consensus was reached by the global economic powers to begin spraying at the lower elevations, merely a few hundred feet above the fields and homes of the Western world.

A pioneer of the early demograph duster pilot program explained his motivation in this manner:  “You see, the developments in unmanned aerial vehicles were disregarded at the time because of the sheer costs involved in manufacturing so many machines.  It was easier just to build the tank and propulsion system for a single pilot, ironically in a reversal of the original purpose for going unmanned.  When we moved the forced labor system to being universal for all mankind, well, everybody could see the sense in volunteering to be taken care of and allowed to live through the purge in exchange for helping in the killing.”

4 – Silas – The Brigand King

| November 7, 2011 | 1 Comment

“Every man has fallen off the ladder from time to time. You dust yourself off and climb back up… but sometimes you forget why you were climbing in the first place.  And when you think about it… you come to one inevitable conclusion. That’s not your ladder, and the top doesn’t exist.  We do what we must to operate in a world of ladders. We shake them… we may even tip a few over. But in the end, there is a shining tower at the top, and it is ours. Believe me when I say, that we will do whatever it takes to get there.”

#6 – Sick Dog

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Continuing off the inspiration behind designs 3-5. This is a feral canine that was not immune to the disease. Being a smaller animal, it’s almost completely overpowered and transformed. It is far along in its development as it resides close to the site of the alien’s first arrival.

It often trips over its weakening paws, and drools consistently. If a pool of sticky ‘water’ is discovered, one of these guys is more than likely just around the corner. The saliva is not acidic, but it does carry the disease and has a horrific smell.

This would be a common but easily overpowered enemy minion of sorts.

The lizardman known as Spektras has been summoned from the Southern seas by the new brigand king. An assassin for hire, he has offered his services to Silas in exchange for one thing… the head of Gregodis. With the ability to blend in to any surrounding and the lack of any moral compass, Spektras makes for a sharp new thorn in the sides of the heroes.

#5- Invisi-Cop

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Invisi-Cop may or may not exist. Some theories go with the idea that “Invisi-Cop” is what he claims to be: a powerful, invisible, mute force aiding the police department that operates out of Portland, Oregon.  Others think Invisi-Cop is a powerful telekinetic mutant who sits in his home, using his powers from afar.  A third theory is that he is simply a myth created by the Portland PD. With the only credible documentation of the hero being a video tape mailed to the police department of objects being thrown across the room and voice filters on the sub-titled screen, there may never be any way to tell.

#3: Elena “Lanie” Flynn

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Another member of the Teen Girl Squad Band, the keyboardist!

Lanie was a private school kid up until seventh grade and is still licking the wounds in public high school. She’s naturally shy, sometimes insecure, and when faced with a conflict she tends to be passive aggressive. However, she means well and can be a loyal friend—she is, in fact, good friends with Tesla, who stood up for her against some bullies back in middle school before they learned they shared a similar sense of humor and a love of classic rock and Pokemon.

#6 – Haltenti, the Wizard in Pink

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

(click the link-through picture if you care for some other goofy sketches that I had to crop out!)

I seem to have an affinity for short, bad-tempered people with an affection for the color pink.

This is Haltenti Varcerone Pan Gherten the second, to you anyway. People who know him well refer to him as Tenti. If you refer to him by anything other than “Sir Pan Gherten”, you’ll probably get a pyroblast to the face.

Haltenti is incredibly vain, to put it mildly. He seems to have this idea that he’s the most beautiful and desireable man in the world, and that he should be treated as royalty. He’ll treat himself every day to special “beautification spells” that don’t really work… in fact, as a side effect from applying these spells to him since a very young age, he’s permanently stunted his growth. Don’t try to tell him that, though. … Seriously, don’t. If you’re still standing after he’s done throwing his tantrum, you’ll get to see a tiny fabulously dressed midget run off sobbing dramatically, which I’m assuming is something you don’t want to see. If it is… you have some strange hobbies.

Needless to say, Sir Pan Gherten doesn’t have very many friends, or even a girlfriend. When he does try to pick up himself some ladies, he’s usually incredibly stupid and obvious about it. Haltenti is a bit cursed when it comes to women; he can’t even catch a mild gold digger. He has a nasty habit of always picking women to hit on who are already married quite happily to large, beefy men.

The Wizard in Pink himself is not born into a wealthy family, but he does live quite comfortably due to his very high proficiency in magic. While he may not be able to keep himself young forever, he certainly knows some of the most complex spells of the day and age. For some reason, people find magic incredibly useful! Haltenti thinks most spells that aren’t used to make his hair gorgeous are a waste of time, but he has to make a living somehow. Expensive spa retreats don’t pay for themselves.

As for his favorite spell? He prefers the one that trails falling rose petals wherever he walks.

Day 6: Robo-Monk

| November 7, 2011 | 5 Comments

Robo-Monk

Robo-Monk was built in a secret underground Shaolin-like monastery. Robo-Monk is loaded with all the knowledge of the Shaolin way. Although Robo-Monk knows all Shaolin styles of combat, he is programmed to not attack any humans. It only serves as a guide and helper to the monks of the monastery.
