#6: Aeon

“Wake up, Mr. Jenson! There’s still much to do…”

Aeon is a strange being, given the power to wake up people right before they die, and help them tie up any loose ends that must be taken care of. Some of his clients, however, are not entirely pleased with his meddling…

#1 - Hope - Jay Faulkner

Elana Verros woke in the middle of the night, throwing on a pair of old jeans and a faded summer top even though the autumn air was cold.  Half asleep she left her family home – her son and daughter in law and their three children – behind her and trudged across the countryside to the cliff tops that she had spent seventy years exploring.

Moving around and through the familiar rocks she came to an opening that she had never seen before – an opening that no mortal had seen for close to three thousand years – and, without conscious choice, she followed it down, deeper and deeper, not noticing that no matter how far she travelled it never got any darker.

When the ground flattened out, and she could go no deeper, she found herself standing beside a marble funeral bier, the porcelain features of a beautiful woman as clear as the day that they had been carved.  Elena’s eyes were drawn to the small wooden box that rested on top of the bier, between the stone hands.  Reaching out she felt a tingle of electricity as she ran her own hands over the wood, feeling the engraved name on the top of it.

With a smile she lifted the box, gently opening the lid, and marvelling at the lights that dance out of it – flying out into the night and bringing Pandora’s final gift to the world … hope.

( yeah i kind of don’t want to follow the template because it just takes too much time for me to do and i don’t have much of that hahaha )

#6 “Cirrus” Katherine ‘Rin’ Windinsky

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Universe/Storyline: The Band

Universe details: In the isolated city of Crescent where these characters live, superpowers spring from close encounters with death. Only people born in the city can gain these powers, and since this is a relatively new settlement, the first generation of people born there are just starting to show signs of super-fication. This means mostly kids and teens. Of the teens, Camille, Max, Amelia, Walter, and Rin decide to team up and form a band. They take it upon themselves to help other kids who are just getting powers/dealing with death. Eventually, when The Band realizes that everyone deserves to be informed about the city’s unique predicament, they try to reach every kid in the city at once by putting on a live concert.

Height: 5’ 3”

Body Type: Very petite, thin.

Hair: Short, straight, very light blonde almost platinum. Some bangs, short and stringy. Eyes: Green, bright, and small compared with her teammates. She wears glasses with thin, oblong, unframed lenses.

Race: White, possibly of European or Eurasian decent.

Age: 14

Attire: She is never seen without her bright yellow waterproof poncho, which hangs over her arms down to about her wrists, and hangs lower in the middle, to about mid-thigh. She keeps the oversize hood up almost all the time, even indoors. The hood helps to hide her face/identity. The rest of her costume is made up of a skin-tight dark blue body suit (like a wet suit, shiny and rubbery) and yellow galoshes with black accents.

Superpowers: Weather control, Conscious and Subconscious, Emotion triggered (primary). Here are some weather effects and their corresponding emotions: Happy=Sunny, Focused=Hot, Relaxed=Cold, Distant/Shy=Cloudy, Confused=Foggy, Alert=Windy, Upset=Rainy, Depressed=Snowy, Hurt=Hailing, Angry=Stormy (tornados, hurricanes, dust storms, lightning), Serious=Dry, Fun=Humid, Unsure=Overcast, Sure=Clear, Afraid=Dark Clouds, Curious=Misty. Without thinking, these effects extend over Rin’s general location, usually to within a few feet of her depending on the intensity of the emotion. By concentrating she can extend these effects over far reaches. She can also focus on a particular emotion in order to call out a desired effect. In extreme situations, she can also call upon tornados, lightning bolts, and other disastrous weather, but she has very little control over them.

Time travel, subconscious (secondary). Stress, grief, and/or a desire for understanding can send Rin hurtling back into her past. She learns the hard way that she can’t change anything about the past, only observe. Everything that has happened up to her present is set in stone.

Personality: Like the weather, Rin is unpredictable. Most of the time she hardly speaks, so she can be difficult to read. When she does speak, she can say very insightful and thought-provoking things. She gives the best compliments, but also the best insults.

Power Sources/Backstory:

a.      Weather Control (localized or broad with concentration, fluctuates with emotional state)- Katherine was a witness to her brother’s murder of her mother.

b.      Time travel- When Rin’s brother is found dead, she feels responsible for not guiding him back to the path of goodness. She wishes she could go back to him and change things, thus triggering her first trip to the past.

Another one of Mizuki’s elites, Robin is charming, social and level-headed. She handles the diplomacy issues and generally boosts the morale. She hides her involvement with the gang very well, belonging to a group of socialites on the side.

#6 – Bromella Zenthhfyr-Durst

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Bromella is Kendric’s mother, and the head shipwright of the Islander’s fleet. She has been even busier since the assault on Himmerd, and so hasn’t had the time she once had for her sons. When she isn’t working, she can be rowdy, even lewd and boisterous. Though Kendric adores his mother, this can sometimes make it difficult to be around her. Especially when she is making some kind of comment to her many children about their loves and friends…

As head shipwright, she’s in charge of keeping the public skyships in good condition. Now that they have been retrofitted for water use, she has run into more problems than she ever imagined, and is additionally burdened by the commisions her people have tried to take on at various ports to build new ships, which are often backed out of by local nobility and merchants due to the Islander’s dubious political position.

She tries to look at everything with an equally objective and optimistic air, and when she isn’t busy fixing, retrofitting, or tieing something back in place, she revels in many un-crafty relaxing passtimes. Like drinking, snuggling with her husband, drinking with friends, and enjoying her well-trained husband’s cooking. Her husband is actually a year younger than her, and their friendship began when they were young teenagers, and she dragged him off into a field to play because she was tired of watching him standing around while the other children ignored him. After that day they because fast friends, and he slowly became bolder because of her inflicted friendship. When they were older, they were eventually married, and to her husband’s dismay, they had many children together. Even at 50, she is still running around the ship like a teenager, into crawl-spaces, up to the bird’s nest, and back. He has to worry all the time though, because despite her high spirits, she may run as fast, but she certainly doesn’t heal as fast.

#6 Barbarian

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

This is just a barbarian woman, sort of.  This is going to sound very strange, but i had a dream the other night i WAS a barbarian woman, using only axes (they called me Axe Mistress).  Wielding a huge 2 handed war axe, and small throwing axes, in my dream i fended off a small group of invaders to a village.  The interesting part was, after the raiders were driven off, i tried to help the local people, and discovered a small artist studio, and realized this huge muscular barbarian was also a lover of arts and an artist herself. (kinda like me ;D).  Anyway, there’s todays.

#6: Avery Mutuus

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Name: Avery Mutuus
Aliases: N/A
Height: 6’2

Weight: 161 lb

Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Bio: Avery was born in 1992 to an upper middle class family residing in Florence. She is the older of two twins, the other being Paul Mutuus.

Avery graduated high school and was accepted to the University of Florence on athletic scholarships. The tall and muscular

Avery had been a star forward for her school’s soccer team, leading them to several regional championships.
In 2010, Avery and her brother’s parents were killed during a home invasion. With no way to pay their tuitions, both dropped out of college and sought employment.

They were approached later in the year with an offer to join Operation: At the Gates. The stated goal of the tests was to see the effects on twins and other closely tied individuals. Avery had served as the caretaker for her sickly brother for their entire lives, and the two were noted to be inseparable.

Powers: Avery possesses impressive strength and agility. Her bench press is estimated to be 1700 lb.  She can also run at speeds of 30 mph for a brief period of time. However, these superhuman traits are only in effect when she is close to her brother, Paul. The further the two are from one another, the weaker Avery’s powers are. As such, she usually carries Paul on her back in combat situations.

G. Brett Williams #5 – Cyclone’s Human Commandos

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

After the Faceless War, Cyclone believed it important to maintain human morale. Despite their diminished numbers, human beings were still the most populace race on the planet. Cyclone, unlike many Evos, still saw himself as human. Many human survivors revered Cyclone in a near-messianic way and he reveled in it. Recognizing that any remaining humans who weren’t evolving would be dealing with increasing stress and depression in a post-war world, he decided to create “human only” police units to protect his provinces. These civilian soldiers are fiercely loyal to Cyclone and his regime.

When Team Chutzpah’s goalie fell ill, Coach Rabbi Futboliwitz took dirt from the playing field and created the Goalem as his replacement. Nothing can get past its rock-solid defense.

G. Brett Williams #4 – The Faceless

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Faceless are the alien race that invade Earth and are eventually repelled by Cyclone and his armies. It is revealed through study of the Faceless dead that they actually share much of the same DNA as humans and appear to be an evolved race of humans that left the planet and colonized space millenia before, thus making the Earth much older than previously believed. The Faceless have the most in common with Evos possessed of telekinetic or telepathic abilities and it is this fact that gives rise to widespread human distrust and Cyclone’s campaign of hate against psychics in the wake of the Faceless war.

The Faceless have staggeringly strong psychic abilities and it is theorized that they eventually evolved their complete lack of eyes or mouths because they no longer needed them to communicate or perceive their environment. The true extent of the Faceless’ abilities isn’t known, but their ability to completely dominate weaker, less-evolved minds is quite strong.

Day 6: Alco Croik

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Character #6, Alco Croik. I honestly have no idea where his name came from, but it just stuck. This is Dean Croik’s nephew that he’s stuck with, but Alco’s a friendly little kid, so he doesn’t mind.

About the cast, Alco somehow ends up in accidents constantly. It’s a running gag where he’ll always have a broken left arm, and it’s from a different reason every time. That’s why his cast is a different color every time, it’s a different cast. PS: Every time refers to every episode or installment he’s in.

Once again, being Dean’s nephew, this implies Dean has some sort of a sibling. And from Dean and Alco sharing a last name, one can assume Dean has a brother. Alco’s father is irresponsible, so Alco prefers Dean taking care of him.

#5 and #6 She and He

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

#5 She

She sat in her darkened living room and knew herself to be lost.  She could say, without equivocation, that she had no idea why or how she got to the point that she was in.  She knew the road she needed to take to get out.  Almost as certainly as she knew the trail of disaster she would leave in her wake if she were to walk away.

So she sat in a dark room and waited.  She wondered daily what the hell it was going to take to make good enough okay.  What the hell was wrong with her that she couldn’t be happy with the things that everybody said should make her happy.  She simply couldn’t figure which was more disloyal; to stay when your heart wasn’t one hundred percent in it, or to call it quits on something just because it was less that perfect.

But these moments would come up, no matter how hard she tried not to let them happen, where the air became tense and uncomfortable with the things she wouldn’t say because they were unkind and the things he wouldn’t say because he always wanted to say the right thing and had no idea what it was she needed to hear.  And she couldn’t help but wonder, in those awkward spans, if there was really anything he could say to fix this part of her which she suspected was and had always been fundamentally flawed and irreparably broken.

She dropped her head into her hands and perched her elbows on her knees, thinking of silence.  Nothing but silence.

#6 He

His heart ached to make it better.  It drove him nuts that she wouldn’t just tell him what the problem was.  If she would just tell him what he was doing wrong, then he could stop.  He could make her happy.  And the truth of it was that he’d gotten himself so tangled up in her that he didn’t entirely feel like a man if he couldn’t make her happy.

If she would just look up at him and smile, thank him and slide her little body into his arms, he knew he would be happy.  Or, at least a lot happier than he was.  But she wouldn’t say, and that left him guessing.  Worried that the next thing he said was going to be the wrong thing to say, all the damn time.  As nervous as a virgin in a room full of cheerleaders.

And there was no use asking.  He had, one too many times, and it had become the wrong thing to say entirely.  He watched her fold herself up inside and put on a clueless face like some women put on makeup.  Her performance was flawless, impeccable.  Everything was fine.  Except that they both knew it was a lie.  Somedays it made him want to hit things.  He would walk around with his hands in fists, wishing he could just figure out how to break through that silence she was carrying.

Even though he asked himself, almost every day now, why the hell it was she didn’t leave, he didn’t once, not for a single moment, as himself why he stayed.  He stayed for all those times she would smile in that bright little way, or lean against him in a crowd, or moan his name with a quiet little whisper, and he felt like he was… real.  He wanted to be inside her.  Inside her heart, inside her mind, and inside her body as much as he possibly could because that had become… home.  In those moments, he felt he was no longer lost.

#1 The Scorpion

| November 6, 2011 | 4 Comments

Art by Michael Powell (@mpowelljr)
Words by Rolando Garcia (@roshow)

The U-City terror known as “the Scorpion” is hailed by some as a hero and by others as a raving lunatic with guns. Regardless of who’s right, both agree: the Scorpion changed the way laws were enforced in the world.

The Scorpion was the first masked crime fighter to successfully help the police close major investigations, including the arrest of four serial killers. In the 30 years since he first appeared, his true identity remains a secret to the public.

The Scorpion has been seen less than a dozen times in the past two decades. Still, his success created precedence, paving the way for vigilantes like Ominus and later Revenger, who help the police by operating outside the law.

Behind closed doors, the Scorpion is a moderately successful voice over actor in animated movies and television shows. His stage mother pushed him into that day job when he was only 7. What he really wanted to be was a cop. Being the weird, hard headed teen he was, he started teaching himself. The voice acting job was flexible and undemanding yet paid him well enough that he was able to pursue his other life as the Scorpion. He never married and never had a family of his own.

He’s currently retired, although he follows the current generation of heroes in the news, obsessively.

#6 Private Killshot and his Hyper-Sonic World War I Death Ray

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

“At one moment, you are crouched next to a fellow soldier, huddled in the trenches, shivering in the cold European snow.  You turn your body for a second to fetch a cigarette from your satchel, or to check the clip in your rifle when you hear it, a subtle electrical buzz muffled beneath the heavy winter air.  Then you smell it, the smell of burning hair and rotting teeth.  You turn back around to see that the soldier sitting next to you, the man whose name you hadn’t even bothered to learn yet,  has been reduced to a pile of smoking ashes.  As the black and silver flakes float off with the wind you slink even lower in your hole, pressing your back even tighter against the sand bags and dirt, you then begin to curse him aloud: that damned American, that damned Private Killshot and his Hyper-Sonic Death Ray…he is single handely turning the tide of this war…”

All Quite on the Western Front

#6: Brown Thrasher

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

  • Name: Steven Holt
  • Age 19
  • Height: 5’9″
  • Weight: 153 lbs.
  • Location: Liberty City, USA
  • Costume: All brown
  • Powers: Has bird-like wings on the underside of his arms to allow flight.

Character info: The Brown Thrasher was a character I created when I was around 11 or 12. For some reason, I had a lot of bird character and I felt the need to add another back then…maybe I wanted one that was a villain. He pretty much looks exactly the same as he did back then. David, Brad, and I were discussing some future villains to use in The Adventurers of Liberty City and we came up with a good team to have our heroes battle. Brown Thrasher will be a member of that team!

#6: The Prince

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Well mannered and quiet, he walks in the night.

His raiment is neat, his buttons done tight.

Wandering, always he looks to his ring.

He twists it and watches for light’s dancing sheen.

Smoky, gas streetlamps or windows from taverns,

Tailing watchmen and sailors with lanterns.

But sometimes he sits in the truest of dark,

no moon, nor the stars, or any small spark.

The ring he holds tight to his lips and he smiles

A solitude stronger than distance in miles.

His night is spent waiting for first break of day

He turns into a pendant, and ’till night he will stay.

#6 Professor Tupelo and Luka

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

NT: Hello there!
OT: hi
NT: My name is Professor Tupelo.
NT: That is not strictly correct. I will be Professor Tupelo once I complete the requirements.
OT: what should i call you then
NT: Nissa would be fine. Now, are you a boy or a girl?
OT: um
OT: i dont feel comfortable anymore
NT: Wait! I don’t mean it like that.
OT: i am going to get my mummy
NT: Please wait. I just want help with my research. You’re ten, aren’t you?
OT: um
OT: how do you know that but not my gender
NT: My thesis advisor is Professor Juniper. She was able to grant me access to the League Database of potential trainers. You applied for a trainer’s loan five months ago.
OT: oh yeah
OT: mummy said we couldnt afford a normal trainers license
OT: so this is how i might get a chance to be a trainer

NT: The database doesn’t provide a lot of information, to be honest.
OT: i can tell
NT: Do you still want to be a Pokemon trainer?
OT: yes but if i dont get a loan in a month then mummy says i have to go back to school
OT: i dont want to go back to school

NT: School isn’t that bad.
NT: Anyway, to become a recognized Pokemon Professor I need to guide and support a new trainer in their journey for a minimum of one year or until they participate in a high-level competition, like a Grand Conference or League Competition.
NT: Instead of choosing a potential trainer nearby to where I am completing my research, I wanted to give someone else an opportunity.
OT: why not them
NT: They are pampered rich kids who are still suckling the silver spoon. Their parents hired veteran trainers to travel with them. They don’t need my help and support. The list of children who need loans to start off on their own journeys is a longer, worthier place to look.
OT: ok i guess
OT: i am still not going to tell you if i am a boy or a girl

NT: That’s OK. That’s not necessary for your trainer’s license. I don’t even need to put down your real name, if you like. The license will be bio-tagged to your genetic code, retina, and fingerprints.
OT: i only know what one of those is
OT: so when do i have to pay you back for all of this
OT: mummy says i have to make sure i know what i am getting into finanshally
OT: financially*
OT: mummy also says that she remembers seeing you on tv two years ago when you were still a coordinator

NT: Oh gods
OT: she says hi and she is ok with this
NT: Right. OK. Tell her I say hi, I guess.
NT: Anyway, now that I have your mother’s permission, I should tell you that this is a grant, not a loan. I don’t need this paid back.
OT: you dont
NT: No. What supplies and money I give you to help you start out are a gift. The only thing I want is for you to do well on your journey.
NT: Do you think you can do that?
OT: i think so
OT: i havent thought about it much
OT: do i get to pick my starter pokemon

NT: Whatever you want. Once you are officially licensed, I will send one to the nearest Pokemon Centre and set up your trainer bank account so that you can purchase supplies. Your mother will be able to help you with that.
OT: can i have a hydreigon
NT: Maybe not whatever you want.
OT: but you said i could have anything i want
NT: Hydreigon are final forms of Deino. No one can give you a final or secondary form as a starter Pokemon.
OT: i want a deino then
NT: Deino are also not recommended for beginning trainers.
OT: fine
OT: can i have a lucario

NT: Those aren’t native to Unova, you know.
OT: i know
OT: i still want one

NT: I can send you a Riolu, the baby form of Lucario
OT: i guess thats fine
OT: even though its not what i really wanted

NT: You have to work hard for that. I am not just going to hand you everything you want. What you want and what you need are not the same thing.
OT: i know that
OT: mummy tells me that every day
OT: so when do i get to start

NT: As soon as you tell me the name you wish to use on your trainer’s journey.
NT: Choose wisely, though, because you won’t be able to change it.

SEAMUS:  Okay, you sure you’re not gonna talk about that shite David, said – right?

SEAMUS:  ‘Cause if not, I’m out again.

SEAMUS:  So, Kenneth.  Ken’s a nice guy and all – for one of them Yanqui’s – but…

PSYCHIATRIST:  But?

SEAMUS:  He’s sarcastic, and brooks no shite from anybody.  If he thinks someone’s full of it, he calls them on it, and he calls them loud and in front of everybody.

SEAMUS:  On the outside, he looks like a nice guy – a mate, y’know?  All clean-cut and everything.  But man, is he black on the inside.  It’s like coal.

PSYCHIATRIST:  Is that the sarcasm, or something else?

SEAMUS:  Oh, that’s the ‘something else’ all right.  That’s just – he called it something once, what the hell was it?

SEAMUS:  ‘Disappointment in the whole human race,’ I think.

SEAMUS:  The sarcasm thing can be downright brutal, when it’s focused on you.  When it’s not, it’s really fucking funny.

PSYCHIATRIST:  So, it sounds like it doesn’t have much of a good side, then?

SEAMUS:  Good side?!  (laughs)  Oh, that’s brilliant, there.

PSYCHIATRIST:  Meaning?

SEAMUS:  Mate, what I just told you about him is his good side!

SEAMUS:  Thank god he doesn’t drink anymore:  drinking brings out his dark side.  Everything I just told you about the sarcasm and the blackness and all; that’s nothing compared to when he’s got his drink on.  I’ve seen what he’s like then.

SEAMUS:  I hope I don’t see it again…
