#3 Corvid Seraphim

| November 3, 2011 | 5 Comments

From a prompt by John Nakamura Remy:

Crow-seraphim: crow’s head and feet, six crow wings, human torso and arms, wielding a sword with black flame. guards the approach to the Tree of Death and Forgetting.

(I found myself unable to work in the extra wings and sword.  Maybe next time.)

Thank you John!

She looks like the ancient Greeks Harpies.

These all appear to be digital drawings – what are you using to produce them? Some of the details seem to be too fine to be created on an iPad (though I will say that I KNOW that’s also not really true). I also see with this image the use of a drop shadow/glow that seems to be on a layer – which makes me think that you’re using Photoshop…

    Just curious. πŸ™‚

Jacob~ yes, digital! I’m using an Intous drawing tablet (thanks to you πŸ˜‰ and working directly in Photoshop (cs3) (Saves me time in scanning etc).

This particular drawing has 9 layers (including a blank white background layer). I made a duplicate of the Corvid drawing layer and put a gaussian blur filter on it to get that smokey blurring around the edges.

The glowy white traces are airbrushed in on a layer under the Corvid.

(probably more shop talk than you were wanting…. πŸ˜› )

There is rarely such a thing as Ò€œtoo much shop talk.Ò€ It is why I asked, and I think others are interested as well – at least some to varying degrees. πŸ™‚

  4. Whoa, this is creepy and awesome. It’s almost like a really, really macabre harpy.
