30 Characters Challenger: Vito Delsante
Hey there.
So, introductions.  My name is Vito Delsante, and I’m a writer based out of New York City, specifically the Astoria/LIC area of Queens. I’m possibly best known for two reasons:
1. I wrote an issue of Superman (676).
2. I’m the store manager at Jim Hanley’s Universe.
I’ve been concentrating on a lot of creator owned work this year, and one of the things I’ve been doing is creating a Wiki for my characters…to be sort of a living, breathing, online story bible. I self published my book, FCHS, this year, so I feel like I’m going in the right direction. Doing the 30 Characters Challenge is, more or less, forcing me to expand this universe, which, in time, will be the focus of my career (I’m hoping). Keep in mind, I’m a writer, so there won’t be much in the way of artwork with my posts, but there may be a surprise or two. I’m not adept with pencils, but I’ve been known to sketch here and there.
Other details…I’m married to a wonderful woman (ie, she loves comics too), named Michelle. I have two dogs, Kasey and Kirby.
Thanks, and see you in the funny pages.
EDIT: I should have followed Joey’s lead initially and added my Twitter info…here it is. Please follow me! (10/30/10)

Welcome to the challenge, Vito! I like the Wiki for characters idea…may have to steal that idea for some of my projects, especially as I work with collaborators…we should all have access to that info handy. Look forward to your posts!
Good to see you stepping up to the challenge Vito 🙂 I’ll keep an eye out for your stuff.
What breed of dogs?
@Tyler, it came to me, literally, in a dream. I work with Jay Piscopo, who if you don’t know, you should (http://jaypiscopo.blogspot.com/) and we’re working on revamping a few public domain characters and the idea was to help me keep track of the ones he created. I just applied it to my own “universe” of characters. So, feel free to steal it!
@Daniel, Kasey is a 14 yr old blind cocker spaniel. Kirby is a 4 year old pit bull mix.
I haven’t met Jay, but I work with someone who’s a friend of his, and follow his stuff on Facebook.
Fellow #30Characters challenger Greg Giordano has also done some cool stuff with public domain characters. Check out his blog: http://flameape.org/category/art/public-domain-superhero-day/
Oh, me and Greg go WAYYYYY back! I’m well aware of his public domain characters! 🙂
